Okay, I don't have much time for anything anymore so I don't know what's going on.. I saw a special on Ozzy this afternoon. Actually only a little while (figures) but it was on VH1. I remember, 10 years ago, VH1 being for the old people. hehe I guess that's me now. hehe ahh. Is this where all our favorites are now? I thought there was a special on Cinderella or Poison on VH1 lately as well.. MTV is basically all rap and everything, right? Is VH1 our place? Otherwise, if it is. We should all get together and write to VH1 or go to their website or somthing and ask for a full week of our 80's stuff.. Once we get big enough here - and have enough members, maybe we can do that. I'd love to get a chance to record all my favorite videos from the 80's...
I've always felt so left out of the loop when it comes to music stations. First it was MTV now its VH1. Canada has MuchMusic and they occasionally have 80s weekends but nothing sucks more when a 19 year old vj doesn't know his/her music history. Now we have MuchMoreMusic (which I don't have yet either lol) and it was supposed to be the same idea as vh1 but.... Celine Dione and company (sappy whiny 90s rock) are played on overkill.
Not trying to offend anyone but I hate all this garbage the so called female Musicians are putting out. Here's a few good ones. (Lita ford) (Tina Turner) (Vixen) I know Tina is a little out of place, but she's one of my favorites her songs hold some good memories for me.
No offense taken. Lita Ford is one of my favorites with Kiss me Deadly and Close my Eyes forever. : ) Also Tina Turner fits in a couple of decades but I think she was amazing during the 80s. She's a role model really, she's in amazing shape, she kicked the loser to the curb and she's got such energy be it on stage or just in life. i admire her. Lee Aaron was great too. Now I'm dying for an 80s weekend lol.
Okay, I know about Lita Ford. She's great and I love those songs you mentioned.. Vixen, I don't know much about.. Tina Turner, there's plenty of good reasons to like her. I used to have a Lita Ford album and her Close My Eyes Forever (w/Ozzy) single but I don't know where those are now...
Behind the Music is sort of a biography of the band and there lives as musicians and what they went through, all the ups & downs. Here's a list of some good ones: Poison Def Leppard Mötley Crüe Ted Nugent (The GREAT one) Alice Cooper Quiet Riot Metallica Black Crowes Ozzy Osbourne This past week was "Bad Boys Week" on VH1 and it was LOADED with good stuff! There are a few of the "Behind the Music" shows I missed, but I'll get 'em on tape eventually. Have you seen "Where Are They Now"? (The one titled 'Girls, Girls, Girls' had Lita Ford and there are a few ones titled "Bad Boys" that mostly focus on the bands of the 80's). Or "Pop-up-Video"? (They have 'Metal Mania 1,2&3' which has nothing but good videos). This is just some of the good stuff on VH1. <img src=http://www.animfactory.com/animgifs/misc/nature2/redroseCLR.gif>
I think I saw "Where Are They Now" on MTV or VH-1. If anyone hears anything about another one of these coming up, let me know. I'll try to record it. I think it would be really cool if these 80s bands that are touring now do really well. Poison seems to have done great. If this starts a trend, we'll see new groups form just like them. I wouldn't mind that at all...
Platinum Blonde just released their greatest hits (a must have for hair/glam rock lovers). The big blonde hair is gone but the sound is still fantastic. They are touring!!!!!! I don't know if its a complete reunion or just a couple of months. One of the band members owns a bar in Toronto, the others not too sure. : )
*Platinum Blonde* Standing in the Dark Situation Critical It doesn't really matter Somebody Somewhere Not In Love Sad Sad Rain Crying Over You They are a Canadian Band but I'm sure they've had some international play. They were all over much music in the 80s.
Remember when MTV rocked!!!??!! Anyhow, I remember when VH1 was nothing but Kenny G (blehhk)...yuk. Anyhow, now VH1 is the ONLY music video channel I watch (since I don't get M2 and all the other channels in my area are country music). I have a question for you all... What happened to MTV's "The Idiot Box" with Alex Winter??? That was such an awesome show! I can't find it on MTV.com's archive shows list either. I think they are purposely hiding it. I want copies of this show. Does anyone have a clue how I can go about this? Thanks, Mirdonamy
Unfortunately VH1 seems to have gotten just as bad as MTV. While I enjoy the Behind The Music series, I'm sick of seeing that show broadcast 10 hours a day. VH1 used to have these great 80's weekend (and weeks!) where they would actually show videos. Too many Where Are They Now? and Flashback shows. Show some videos!!!
Hi, Br4flair. Good to seeya here.. I haven't been watching much television lately so I don't know what's going on... VH1 is crap now too? What about this other MTV show they have now? Isn't called "M" or something? Is THAT any good? Somebody definatly needs to make a new video oriented television...
MTV's other station is "M2". I don't have it on my cable system, but got a month long preview of it a couple of years ago. 24 hours of videos, no commercials. They play everything on there: metal, hip hop, pop, country, 80's, you name it. Too bad it has only caught on with satellite systems.
