It is 7pm here in Phoenix on Dec. 3rd 1999 and I just looked up at my calender and realised that as of today there are only 4 weeks left of the 20th century. It has been one hell of a century. We, the human race, have accomplished alot in 100 years. I have only been here on earth for 30 years, and we have done alot in that time. Here are my memories of the 20th century. I remember when we bombed Libia. I was living in England and I remember the "peace" protesters outside the gate, throwing rocks at the school bus..and carrying signs that read "Rambo..Dumbo..US Hero.." I remember my parents party on July 4 1976. I remember seeing Grease at the Drive-in. And standing in line for hours for Star Wars. I remember when roller skates were cool and in-line skates had never been heard of. I remember when people were fist-fighting in stores over cabage patch dolls. I remember garbage pail kids, we were trading those damn cards long before pokemon. I remember when JR Ewing got shot.(Kristen did it!) I remeber when John Lennon died, and my mother cried for days. I remember when, from England, I heard stories of this MTV thing. My first taste of MTV was on March 18th 1984, first video I saw was the scorpions. Yes, I remember the date, my grandfather died the day before and we flew back from England for the funeral. My 15th birthday was on the 21st of March. I spent that at Grandpas funeral. I remember Atari. I remember thinking Shawn Cassidy was cute, until I saw Rick Springfield. (I still think Rick is cute) and then Duran Duran (I am still a die hard Duranie!!) Star Wars. I remember my friend Laura and I dressed alike for 2 years. Running home from school to watch General Hospital (Rick was Dr. Noah Drake...) I remember when I moved to England in 1982 and the country and Duran Duran changed me forever. I remember watching Lady Diana Spencer walk down the aisle to marry her prince. I remember crying for hours after her death. I remember my Dorothy Hamill haircut and Jordach Jeans. Pop-Rocks Mork and Mindy. Alex P. Keaton. I remember when the challenger blew up. I remember when Michael Jackson's hair blew up. 10 cent pay phones 99 cent cigs What are your memories? ~Rain

Giving Birth to my wonderful girls!!!! Ayla
LOL, out here we had the best bush parties, a huge fire lots of beer and people, great music supplied by someone's awesome car stereo. The cops never bugged us even though you could see the fire clear across town. Ayla
Those were the best types of parties - in the summer we'd go down the shore and the cops never bothered us either except for one summer when an idiot kept smashing glass so they started chasing us (never caught us we can swim lol) and in the spring and fall we'd party in the 'pines' We still get together once a year on labour day weekend get a pig, tons of corn, a huge keg (we have a huge blue plastic container we can but the keg in and then line with ice), and other recreational items. This past year everyone brought their kids so there was less drinking etc but it was still great : )
losing my virginity (hey someone had to say it) Damn! Thanks for dredging THAT memory up from the depths of HELL!!! LOL, Just kidding. Thanks for dredging up this old post. And for reminding me once again of the wonderful and beautiful Randy Rhodes. I, too, cried forever. Also when we lost Cliff Burton. So many young talents have been lost, but never forgotten.
Yeah.. Two amazing guitarists.. I don't know much about them because they were before my music time, but I've heard their skill.. I wonder how things would have been if they were still here. I know for sure Metallica would be different.. What do you think would be different with Ozzy?
I think things wouldn't change so much with Ozzy, he's had some incredible guitar players. I think Randy Rhoads would have done alot of solo stuff, and kicked major ass. He was a great classical guitarist as well, so it would have been interesting to see where he would have gone! Ayla
Yeah, Ozzy did have great guitarists. Randy Rhodes was a big influence on Ozzy too, though. I wonder if that would have made some kind of difference.. On the other hand, Metallica would have still been a metal band. They always listened to whatever Cliff Burton said. He was the boss more or less. Mainly because he was a tough guy. hehe
I'm not familiar with Metallica (I mean I know some of their tunes) but I am not a big fan, so I can't comment on them. Ozzy Osbourne on the other hand, I love. always have, yes Randy had a very big impact on his life, just check out the tribute album, but I also think Ozzy had his own style which is apparent in all his albums. It's a shame we'll never know what could have been.................. Ayla
One of my favorite bands of the 80's was Tears for Fears. I think they were English. One of my favorite tv shows was 30something and I think one of my favorite movies of the 80's was Terms of Endearment.
