I have been searching for someone else in the world who knows ANYTHING about the song with the following chorus: River, river in a jungle river in a jungle in my dugout canoe Floating, floating down the river floating down the river in my dugout canoe That is all I can remember of the song. I think it was quite early 80's, and was in the charts here in Australia for a short while. If anyone can help me, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do!
Hi Shane glad you came : ) I'm still stumped from the email but at least with the male singer I can do some elimination. I just know someone else has this song and may even be sitting on a lovely mp3 : )
Hi, Shane. Welcome to the board! Ahh, hmm.. I'm sorry but I that chorus is unfamilar with me. This place only started a few days ago so there aren't really many people here yet. I hope someone will recognise that chorus. Sooner or later somebody will...
Shane I'm still looking but still stumped. Can you recall if the singer had an accent of some sort. Men at work have a distinct accent as do The Police if you had to pinpoint the accent could you because that may help to narrow the search a bit more : )
I wish I could.. He hasn't been around much lately.. But, it's been kinda dead anyways.. Maybe after the holidays are over someone will come on here who knows the song!
I am trying to find this song too!! (that's how I saw your message) The animals look hungry, look left look right. I love it!!!!! A Sydney band called the One Hit Wonders do a cover of it and that was my next point of call. I'll let you know if anything comes up!!!! email andysan@bigpond.net.au
god how long have I been trying to track this song down. I remember being in the kitchen of my mums house when I first heard this, I must have been around 14.
If someone can point me in the direction of the MP3 then I would be really grateful
Could somebody please send me the MP3 of King Trigger's The River. I replied to another message board only to find the email address was wrong and it bounced.
lsclayton, I got your private message but have no way of contacting you back, it doesn't have your email or anything!
It's taken me half an hour of searching just to find this post again.
Anyhoo, I would be more than happy to share the mp3, but emailing it would be a long, slow process.
Alas, it looks like Audio Galaxy do not have a downloadable version, but have you tried software such as Edonkey or Kazaa?
And I'm still interested in getting an accurate lyric sheet for this song, btw!
Hi
I'm new to this list.
I too have been pulling hair trying to find the name of this song/band.
A lucky search got me here.
Now the search is on for the MP3!!
If anyone can help it will be much appreciated
King Trigger performed this song (if I recall) during an episode of early 80s english sitcom "the young ones".
These are available on Video, so if you're desperate to get the song, you'll find it that way.
I have the 7' in my hand(!). River by King Trigger, produced by Steve Lillywhite on Chrysalis 3:38 b/w Push or Slide. Unfortunately I don't have a mixer to convert to CDA/MP3 right now, but if anyone wants the lyrics, I know them off by heart! Oh what the hell…
River - River in the jungle River in the jungle in my dug out canoe Floating - Floating down the river, floating down the river in my dug out canoe Hazards - meet a lot of hazards, meet a lot of hazards in my dug out canoe Dealing -Dealing with the hazards, dealing with the hazards in my dugout canoe -Heat steam spiders-webs, jungle creepers overhead (*2) look left look right (*2) Spied upon by jungle light - River verse again (River and Floating lines)- The animals look hungry, look left look right, the animals look hungry, look out for the man size bite. My name is Ian and I was the percussionist in King Trigger. We released one other single and an album, River was a hit in Australia but just missed in the UK, then we split in the usual acrimonious way that bands do! River was, if I remember correctly, played briefly during an episode of the Young ones but was definately on the Max Headroom show a couple of times. And, no, I did not make any money out of it!
