**STANDBY FOR SOME SERIOUS BRAGGING**
Doing a bit of shopping the other day, I came across a LTD edition vinyl pressing of 'Standing On A Beach - The Singles' by the CURE - I was completely chuffed, but that was only half of it - it's beautifuly signed by Robert Smith himself!! I was overwhealmed, but also cautious to know if it really was genuine - the seller showed me some photos of him getting it signed in the hotel room when they toured here late last year - that was all the evidence I needed - I now own a round piece of mint condition vinyl and a square piece of cardboard signed by my all time greatest 80's hero ever! am I a happy man? YOU BETCHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">
LOL.......Congratulations Retroman! That's pretty cool! Why on earth would the seller get rid of something like that???? *I'm not a Cure fan myself, I was just curious.*
That's awesome!!! WQLN, our PBS station, recently held a "Vintage Vinyl" sale at the mall and they had a few silent auction sales there as well. I put a bid on the signed Frank Sinatra album but was not the highest bidder. I was told the police gave it to them. They got it from a rade where all the stuff confiscated was stolen and they were gonna throw it out if PBS didn't want it. These stories, like that one and the one you told us, amaze me. I wouldn't sell any of my autographed stuff much less throw it out.

One of my high-school friends got to go backstage at a Cure concert once, (radio contest probably) shook Robert's hand, and didn't bathe for a week. Imagine what he'd do with an actual signature. At least it wouldn't smell like he did. <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

yeah, it's got me beat why anyone would want to part with something like it - but as the saying goes 'different strokes for different folks' - the seller obviously wasn't as insanely obsessed in the CURE as I am!
I know for a fact that I will keep it for the rest of my life.

Yeah I just had to brag! sorry, I'm so happy with my find! the chances of having the opportunity arise again it like a zillion to one! it was destiny that I found it!
