Favorite Outfielder of the 80s

Of these outfielders who made 5 or more all-star appearances, which is your favorite?

Even though I liked Tony Gwynn as a baseball player, I would have to go with Rickey Henderson.

Because of the maximum 11 options for a poll, I couldn't inculde all the outfielders that had 3 or more all-star appearances like the other positions. So just for information sake here are the other outfielders that made at least 3 sll-star appearances:

Al Oliver
Ben Oglivie
Dave Parker
Eric Davis
Fred Lynn
Harold Baines
Jose Canseco
Kirby Puckett
Willie McGee

Although at one time Jose Conseco was the best player on the PLANET, I would go with Darryl Strawberry. Such a shame he was a crackhead. BTW, Darryl is the only player to play for all 4 of the "original New York" teams. Mets, Dodgers, Giants and Yankees.

Dale Murphy, a couple mvp's, good power, good average, above average speed. his number's are consistantly higher than strawberry's and he played all of the 80's unlike Canseco.

Henderson and gwynn were also great but in different ways that Murphy, and if I'm a GM, I'd want power, average and RBI's over average or speed

Just to compare some stats averaged into a 162 game season.

Murphy .265 Batting Average 30 HRs
130 Strikeouts .346 On Base %
.469 Slugging %

Strawberry .259 Average 34 HRs
138 Strikeouts .357 On Base %
.505 Slugging %

Jose Conseco .266 Average 40 HRs
167 Strikeouts (OUCH) .353 On Base %
.515 Slugging %

But, strawberry and Jose have something Dale doesnt. World Championships.

Jasper are those 80's stats or lifetime, from 88 and into the 90's murphy was declining, while Strawberry and Conseco were in their prime. No Murphy didn't have a world championship but he did have 2 mvp's in the 80's, Conseco had one. Murphy also didn't have the support that the other had

here's why i picked murphy

MVP's 2 1982, 1983
came 9th in votes in 84, 7th in 85

gold gloves 5 1982-1986 (actually there not too important for an outfielder when i make my picks)

top ten in batting twice 1983 302 (6th) 1985 300 (10th)

5 years he was in the top ten in onbase percentage
6 years he was in the top 7in slugging , (twice he was first)
7 years he was in the top ten in runs scored (once he was first)
3 times he was in top ten for hits
6 time top ten in rbi's (twice he was first)
9 time in top ten in home runs (twice first, 3 times second)
7 time top ten in walks (first once)

now Strawberry (who to be fair was often injured/stoned and didn't start until 83)

finsished in top ten of mvp balloting twice
finished in top ten slugging 3 times
top ten in runs twice
top ten in homeruns 7 times (finsihed first once)
top ten in rbi's 4 times
top ten in bb 3 times
top ten total bases twice

now conseco

mvp 1 (1988)
top ten in batting 1
top ten in onbase percentage 1 (fisnshed first)
top ten in slugging 1
top ten in runs 1
top ten in hits 1
top ten total bases 1
top ten home runs twice (first once)
top ten rbi's 3 times (first once)

Conseco and strawberry were great players, (especially offensively) but much of heir numbers are from the 90's and Canseco became so bad with a glove by the early 90's he was dh ing
