Angry Gas Prices!

If you're like me, everyone who drives a car here in the U.S. are pissed about these Gas Prices. I know this has been discussed before and that the folks in Europe and surrounding countries feel the effects of Gas prices to be already higher here in the U.S. ... this clip below is circling around the net written by someone who lives in California. I just can't imagine paying $3.00 per gallon.

These are not my words, it's just an idea to maybe consider. I don't know if this would work but I'd be willing to try anything to keep Gas prices the way they are.

Great IDEA
Subject: GAS PRICES...THIS COULD WORK

I hear we are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon by the summer. Want

gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some united,

intelligent action. Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day"

campaign that was going around last year. The oil companies just

laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt"

ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than

it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up

with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50

is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $1.97 for regular unleaded in my

town. (California). Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at$1.50-$1.75 we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the

marketplace ....not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see

the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not

purchasing THEIR gas!! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, starting as soon after April 1st as possible,

DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp

out at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach

millions of people!! . I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of them send it to 10 more (30 x 10 = 300) and those 300 send it to at 10 more (300 x 10= 3,000) ... and so on, by the time this message reaches the sixth

generation of people, we will have reached over 3 MILLION consumers!

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes only one level further, you guessed it.....THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!. All you have to do is send this to ten people. That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... well, there it is, in black and white, so trust me on this one.) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MI LLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days. I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you? Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE GIVE IT A TRY UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK IF WE DON'T DELETE THIS AND KEEP IT GOING. DO IT NOW, WHILE IT IS IN FRONT OF YOU. WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE AND WE'VE EVERYTHING TO GAIN AND START IT YOURSELF WITH YOUR NEXT FILL-UP.

Here in South Texas, our gas prices haven't reached astronomical! We had been at $.95 a gallon and just jumped to $1.29 which isn't too bad. We've been hearing about the people in California paying almost $3.00 a gallon, crazy! Last time gas prices skyrocketed, we only went up to $1.39, so I'm hoping it stays the same this time.

I just filled my tank up at Citgo and gas there was $1.36 per gallon. Not too outrageous, but a big jump from when it was only .88 cents per gallon a few months ago!!!

I remember reading this letter last year. I haven't seen any gas prices that high yet. I've been paying bet. $1.61 and $1.75. I read that gas prices will go up this summer but will still be an average of .08 cents a gallon cheaper than last summer. We'll see....

Well, it was worth a try.... I guess no matter how you look at it, they got us by the you know what until Car manufacturers make a decent hybrid car that's powerful. I think if were not so dependent on oil... things would be better in many aspects in the world. Oil = Evil!

A few months back, gas was about 97 cents a gallon. Right now, it is averaging about $1.29 a gallon for regular unleaded here in Austin, TX. We are pretty fortunate here in Texas because we are usually one of the lower priced states compared to most other U.S. states.

We have been fluxuating between $1.39 and $1.79 (big fluxuation, huh?).. I never know what the damn price is gonna be when I wake up! It's NEVER under $1.39, though... and that's still too high, in my opinion... I don't buy gasoline at Mobil or Exxon anyway, so it's a perfect boycott for me

I envy you guys that pay $.98 Thats nuts!! I haven't seen that price in about 5 years!!! Geez!!!

The prices shot up over night. It went from .99 to 1.35. I am going to do alot of traveling this summer so the thought of the prices going up scares me.

In my town in Illinois....it's staying pretty much between $1.27-$1.36 per gallon. Our average I would say is approx. $1.25 so it's not too bad. On 9/11...it jumped to $1.89 a gallon....we were lucky...a few towns from here, it went to $3.50 a gallon. By the next day though..it was back down to norm.

Once again...ask anyone from the UK and Germany...and smile next time when you´re filling up your car at the gas station (currently, 1 gallon of regular is about $4 here).

The idea of boycotting certain companies is not new, it was also discussed often in Germany. Unfortunately, it won´t work, since many users of fleet cars are also using fleet cards linked to a certain company to refill their cars; besides, taxes are making up the most of the actual costs (w/o fuel and ecological taxes, fuel would be about 1/3 of the current price).

This is just sad. I honestly don't know what gas costs in Phoenix. I have gotten so used to just having to pay whatever they charge that I just fill it up and go.

An intriguing idea, but probably very hard to pull off.
We need to get very aggresive about exploring alternative fuels that will (in the long run) be cheaper and cleaner burning. Gas prices aren't going to get much better, they will continue to rise until we are forced to try somethig new.
