Give up? This Friday night.......a new generation will be introduced to the 80's!!! We are having a dance at the school because it is RIF week. We usually have a theme.....one year it was a sock hop, last year it was a disco.....this year it's THE MAGIC OF MUSIC THROUGH THE YEARS....and I'm in charge of the 80's....we are displaying items from the 50's through today......I have been gathering up my items from the 80's. I even have my old rubix cube, my little squeeky pacman that used to sit on the dash of my car, many album covers, posters, my rock buttons, and even my copy of VALLEY GIRL from Frank and Moon Unit Zappa! Also, I'm in charge of the consessions that will be served from the PLANET ********(NAME OF SCHOOL) CAFE!! We will be decorating tomorrow night.......I am sooo excited. Now......remember, I am almost 40 years old~~~~~ hope I don't embarrasse my girls when I get totally loose......footloose!:lol:

Sounds like fun guy!! Wish I could be there to see the memorabilia! :thumb: And don't worry about embarrassing your daughter, no on should feel that way when they're watchin' someone ....cut loose, footloose!! :lol:

Really? You don't think they'll crawl under the nearest table in shame when even when they see me and hubby doing YMCA? :D
Seriously though.....the kids at our school are great....they love the YMCA and Celebration. Maybe I'll try to post some pics when I can figure out our new digital camera..... thanks for the encouragement Trixter.

That sounds like so much fun! I would love to do something like that. The 80s would be my first pick but the 50s would be fun too. I hope you can post some picts!

I don't think you have anything to worry about, once the kids see the fun that everybody is having they'll understand why you and your hubby are so footloose and may even decide to join in and get a little footloose themselves.:)

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the good comments. My girls (they are 6 & 8) wanted to dress for the 70's at first (disco...nothing wrong with that) but when they saw the little outfits I put together for them.....wow! They're going to be a couple of little Valley Girls! Bitchin huh? :) They've been dancing to "Dancing in the Sheets" and "Let's hear it for the Boy" from my soundtrack. I have my get up ready.... I was going to go as Pat Benatar at first (people say that I resemble her a little bit....but I have my big black shirt with the shoulder pads, pink tank top, rock buttons, madonna like lace gloves, and black skirt all ready to go!
Sure....I am excited. This is about the fourth dance that I have been in charge of the food for and I really enjoy being a part of this group of people. We are a small school and everyone pitches in, helps each other, and we all have a fantastic time for a few hours.
