The talented Howard Jones aka Ho Jo had a long string of New Wave/Pop hits in the 80s. Which of his songs was your favorite?

I absolutely love the touching lyrics to Ho Jo's "No One Is to Blame". This is certainly one of the best-written songs of the 80s and I think everyone in the world can identify with the words to the song, at one point in your life or another. So, "No One Is to Blame" receives my vote!!! :thumb:

I was such a fan of HoJo around 1985-86 that it was hard to choose just one. I went with "Things Can Only Get Better", because that song was the one that got me hooked on Howard. My absolute fave might also be the catchy "Bounce Right Back", or the original version (sans percussion) of "No One Is To Blame" Also, "Elegy" was one of the saddest, most beatiful songs I'd ever heard.

I like every song by Howard Jones. I picked 'New Song' because it was the first song I heard by him, which began my love of HoJo's music

"No one is to blame". I always loved the lyrics to this song. It was produced and drums were played by Phil Collins.

You know it! Now that I've thought a little more, my favorite HoJo song is either 'Last Supper' or 'Fresh Air Waltz'. The whole Cross That Line CD is, in the words of the Pet Shop Boys, "Absolutely Fabulous". He also had a great song called 'Blue' on a CD ("Working In The Back Room") I bought at one of his concerts.

I've voted "thinks can only get better". I like "what is love", but was so overplayed (at least in my country) that I got tired of it.

I loved the whole "Human's Lib" album - all killers, no fillers! ;)
My favourite track was "Human's Lib" for the gloomy atmosphere, and I had to admit that the first two lines of the lyrics got immediately stuck in my head, at least for the women part.

I heard a year or so back that HoJo is one of the wealthiest musicians in the UK. Seems that he had a mind for business and invested the millions he earned and lives quite well today. As he wrote, produced and played all the instruments on most of his songs, he didn't have to share his royalties!!! :)

I chose Everlasting Love. "Things Can Only Get Better" came in a close second. Howard's tunes (from what I've heard on the radio and TV) tend to have a catchy beat to them.

I'm glad that someone voted for "Everlasting Love", Boggle. What a great song! I just saw the video to this song on VH-1 Classics the other day, with the two in love mummies wandering around London... funny!

It's been awhile since I've seen the video for this song, but I definitely remember the mummies walking down the street. If I recall he buys her a bouquet of red roses. Cute video:)

I normally don't vote for the most sucessfull song of an arist as this often means it is overplayed. But in this case i had to go for What is love. It was a hard decision as I like some of the other songs very much as well. Things can only get better and Like to get to know you well were performed in such a good way by him on the Here and Now tour last April.

For me it's New Song. I can never get sick of it! And the 12" is great. I should check out the album it came from. Someone said earlier that it's all killers and no fillers (to quote) :)

I voted for What Is Love. Then again, I like all his songs, so to pick one was very tough, especially considering how many hit songs he had in the 80s. One of my favorite concerts ever was seeing him play in London in 1998. It was quite a thrill to see him do a gig, especially in his native land. My second choice would have been Life In One Day.

Don't try to live your life in one day, don't go speed your time away

Life in One Day got my vote, thanks to the very corny video.

I had to go with "Like To Get To Know You Well" because it reminds me of one of my favorite movies of all time "Better Off Dead"! :thumb: Unfortunately, it was not on the soundtrack! As awesome as the soundtrack is lacking a few key tunes in the movie! I made my own soundtrack CD using the original and adding Howard's "L.T.G.T.K.Y.W."( working on the camaro scene)as well as Muddy Waters "Mannish Boy" (camaro ready to race scene) and Van Halen's "Everybody Wants Some" (from the animated hambuger and fries scene) as well as strategically placing appropriate bits of dialog between the songs. I also mixed in the sax solo John Cusak plays in the restaurant scene during "Arrested By You"(one of my absolute favorite soundtrack tunes!) Incidentally, that IS John actually playing the sax! That's why it's not on the soundtrack version! :yesnod:

I always liked No One is to Blame. Phil Collins and Howard Jones sounded good singing together :) But I voted for Everlasting Love because it's a beautiful song and also the one song I always seem to think of whenever I hear the name Howard Jones
