View Full Version : Fantasy baseball update
nolanbuc 4-01-02, 06:32 AM The season is here! In a head-to-head league, we will all play each other by pairs each week. This week's match-ups are:
Wrigley Vines (nolanbuc) vs. The Recking Crue (recker)
'Dem Bums ( idexpectnoless) vs. Go Ravens...ehhh?!?! (flix)
Road Warriors (scott28883) vs. Lostboys (lostboy)
Pac Man Chompers (pac man Dave) vs. Vice Rules (Sonny Burnett)
Rampant Lion Red Sox (this charming man) vs. caligula's expos (caligula)
Good luck to everyone! Remember players, your weekly settings must be done by 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time (USA) each
Sunday night.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! The Recking Crue is gonna whip the butts of all of you! We're gonna put you all to shame and send you running with your tails between your legs!
And those "Go Ravens" better watch it, because when they face The Recking Crue, they're going down big time!!!!!!!
:goofy:
nolanbuc 4-01-02, 11:56 PM LOL! The smack-talk has already begun!
I watch too much pro-wrestling!
Well I did, before it got taken of NZ free-to-air TV.
A guy from New Zealand is challenging a guy from Denmark in Baseball?!?! This should be interesting. You won't have a chance, Recker. As soon as the puck is in play and my team kicks off the ball, your team will stand no chance of any slam dunks. I know my baseball. Does anyone want Barry Bonds? I am willing to trade him for someone with a cool last name.
Seriously, when are you changing the league settings, buc? It's a pain that we can only update our teams once a week.
You just wait Flix, I'm going to find the pefect Iron to serve my first delivery! And when the first half is done, I'm going to have my captain yell "Bullrush" and then you'll find every single one of your team members out for a duck!
nolanbuc 4-05-02, 07:32 PM Flix, the system won't let me change the settings until tomorrow. (Stupid rules! I am the almighty Commish! Who do they think they are?)

It works now. We can now change our starting lineup every day. Thanks, Commish! :)
this charming man 4-08-02, 04:48 PM Rampant Lion get's on bended knees and claim we're not worthy to Caligula.
Can anyone explain some of these points to help me out:
What are the nine categories that the scoring goes by? I know what the letters stand for, but what does it actually mean i.e What is a Save? What is a Hit/ At Bat? etc.
How do you know which players will be playing on a certain day? If I go to my team selection, some of them will have either capital letters or will have @followed by some letters, what does this mean?
I have read most of the rules, but these don't seem to be explained in newbie terms. It all seems to be very technical for a game of rounders, but seeing my position in the league, I think I need to learn a bit more or I'm going to be sacked pretty soon.

an "at bat" (AB) is a player's opportunity to hit at home plate.
our scoring categories are:
Batters' Stats
Run: Score obtained when a base runner safely crosses home plate.
Hit: A play in which the batter safely reaches a base after hitting the ball
Home Runs: A ball hit out of the playing field in fair territory.
Run Batted In (RBI): Statistics which shows how often a player has made it possible for his/her team mates to score while at bat.
Stolen Base: Successfully advancing a base between pitches without the batter hitting the ball or getting a base on balls.
Pitchers' Stats:
Walk: An award given to the opposing batter after the pitcher delivers 4 balls.
Shut Out: A game in which the opposing team doesn’t score any runs.
Save: A relief pitcher can be credited with a save if they can keep the team’s lead while the opponent’s tying or winning runs are on base, or if they pitch 3 or more innings without allowing the opponents to tie the game.
Strike Out (K): Out recorded by recording three strikes on the batter.
Forgive me if they sound elementary, I wanted to make sure those less familiar with the game could understand.
How do you know which players will be playing on a certain day? If I go to my team selection, some of them will have either capital letters or will have @followed by some letters, what does this mean?
The "OPP" line is the team they are playing against that day, the "@" sign means they are playing an Away game. If that space is blank, they have no game that day. As for pitchers, if they are the starter (SP's don't play every game), they should have a "^" by their name, but don't count on that 100%. You may want to check their team's pitching rotation if you are unsure.
I hope this helps, anyone can fee free to e-mail (nolanbuc@yahoo.com) or PM me if you have questions or need help.
