Hey Y'all,

Rap and Hip Hop were born in the 80's and certainly flourished, out of all the acts and collaboration/duets during the formative years, what pairing or grouping was your favorite?

I liked Run DMC with Aerosmith singing "Walk This Way"! :thumb: This song really broke down the walls for hip-hop to become more mainstream.

 I agree, Ted. I am definitely not a fan of hip-hop, but I did like the Run-DMC version of the song.

I'll tell you what's a real shame...hearing a Led Zeppelin song (Rock and Roll) played in a car commercial....I hate that...with a passion!

sorry...didn't mean to get off on a tangent...back to the rap duos.

Funny...the original version of "Walk This Way" sounds almost the same. Okay, minus the input of RUN D.M.C., it sounds a little bland, but hey... ;)

Anthrax and Public Enemy! Yup, that was a kickass collaboration...and Public Enemy had no chance to mix in their highly annoying loop samples.

I went with Eric B. & Rakim, they had a great sound and lent it well to artists like Jody Watley in "Friends"! :thumb:

Doug E Fresh/Slick Rick were a great duo, but then Eric B/Rakim were just as great...very tough question. Honorable mention to the fun duo of Kid & Play in the late 80's. Not quite on the level of the previous two mentioned rap pioneer duos, but good none the less.

If I had to choose, I'd go with Eric B/Rakim though....often imitated, never duplicated :verycool:

I go with Eric B & Rakim but I did like Kid & Play but Run Dmc is the bomb. I think Run Dmc made "walk this way" reach a level higher than other older rock songs sampled.

Eric B & Rakim or Mantronix. I didn't really like a whole lot of Rap back then, but Mantronix always surprised me.
