View Full Version : Favorite George Michael song?
Hey Y'all,
George Michael had a strong solo career in the 80's after Wham! and carried over into the mid 90's here in the US, what would you consider his best song from the 80's?
Iluvthe80s 3-28-02, 06:48 AM I voted for "One More Try".
80sTrivia 3-28-02, 06:49 AM I voted for "Faith". This song really established George as a solo pop superstar and gave him an entirely different image than when he was in Wham! :)
Roemello 3-28-02, 07:56 AM Never was too big a fan of his, but I guess I'd have to go with 'Faith'..pretty cool tune
I voted for Careless Whisper!
Steve Savicki 3-28-02, 03:09 PM "I Knew You Were Waiting (w/ Aretha Franklin)"
George Michael stunk solo and was a nobody without Wham so Aretha Franklin actually boasted a talented song to his {ahem} solo credit/effort/flop/whatever you want to call it.
Just to be contrary I was going to vote other because I love "Praying for Time". But I thought, no, in all honesty, "A Different Corner" is my favourite song of his. So "A Different Corner" it is.
space-invader 3-28-02, 07:43 PM i went for careless whisper...tho i don't really know too many of his songs
Careless Whisper without a doubt.
80s hair 3-29-02, 08:48 AM I picked the "Big" single and video "Faith". Most of his music did very little for me, but this was his best!
angeleyes25 3-29-02, 01:27 PM I'm not a big George Michael fan,I thought he had better songs when he was in Wham but I do like "I want your sex!"
Christine 3-29-02, 03:10 PM Definitely "Careless Whisper" - I love this song. :thumb: :D But "A Different Corner" was #1 in the UK the day I was born. I've never heard that song though.
Ted Nugent 3-29-02, 03:13 PM I'm not a big fan of his but, "Faith" is a pretty good song. :)
I went with Careles Whisper even though it was a Wham song. Was a great song though.
I went with "I Want Your Sex". I think, besides it being fun and funky, it promoted the shift that was occurring toward having safer sex. His video said, at the same time, "Have fun with sex, and be monogamous."
I like almost all the songs listed, though. I would have voted "Careless Whisper" like my Sis, but she's right, that's considered a Wham! tune. ;)
I vote for the best song from 'Faith', "Father Figure"! A damn good song from Mr. Michael
80sSmurf 4-02-02, 02:56 PM Faith :p
I remember his jeans from the video...I thought they were sooooo cool
ImSoooSure 4-02-02, 09:43 PM I want your sex! That is such a catchy tune.:)
Anything by or with George Michael is great. I voted for Careless Whisper. His first solo single and it's still a brilliant song. I also like Recker's Wham medley which I can recommend to all Yahoo Messenger users. ;)

Maybe next time I get to voice chat! (Do we still have voice chat here??) And as long as I can prevent from cracking up laughing while I'm singing it!! :p
This was impossible. I voted for Careless Whisper, but I like all the other songs very very much. He is so talented.
A Different Corner is brilliant but then again the man himself is brilliant so what can you expect? :) I Want Your Sex is brilliant for a more upbeat tune :)
"Father Figure" got my vote among these great songs :)
BlitzKid 6-13-02, 07:21 AM Different Corner is my favourite George Michael song, sad but beautiful.
whistledog 9-19-04, 09:40 PM had to go with other. I really liked his Elton John duet 'Wrap Her Up' :thumb:
app4dstn 9-20-04, 01:39 PM "knew you were waiting"..... love the hook
Well crap. I voted "other" because I forgot that Freedm 90 came out in (duh) 1990. :(
So, will have to go with my 2nd favorite song from him, Father Figure.
Once again other...Cowboys and Angels is a classic by him...
DJ Midas 10-17-04, 03:51 PM "A Different Corner"
Tanya1976 11-12-04, 02:46 PM One More a Try followed by Monkey and Kissing a Fool
bookmistres4ever 11-21-04, 03:53 AM Father Figure is my fave, along with Careless Whisper. I can still remember my best friend, after she moved from Ohio to Virginia, calling me all excited and telling me to listen for "Careless Whisper" *sigh* lol It did turn out to be a great song too. My friend also introduced me to Duran Duran, so of course, she had great taste in music. Thanks Patty (wherever you are!)
Cool Hand Logan 11-21-04, 01:15 PM Wham's "Careless Whisper"
One More Try, followed closely by Careless Whisper, Monkey, I knew you were waiting and Kissing A Fool.
