Trixter 3-26-02, 09:40 AM I'm gonna duck before saying this, but I voted for "We Didn't Start The Fire", I think that songs great! The video with Marlee Matlin is fantastic as well!! :thumb: Chasey 3-26-02, 10:31 AM 'We Didn't Start The Fire' - I agree with The Trixman on this. I thought it was genius by Billy, the way the lyrics were put together was awesome. 80sTrivia 3-26-02, 12:00 PM I had to vote for "We Didn't Start The Fire". I believe this song encapsulated most of the 20th Century in a little over three minutes, which is an amazing feat!!! :) Flix 3-26-02, 01:27 PM Not sure about this one, but Uptown Girl got my vote. I have been spotted singing along to the Westlife cover of this song recently. :D scott28883 3-26-02, 02:11 PM I voted for pressure, great song and great video in my opinion. abcmcd 3-26-02, 02:12 PM No need to duck Trixter.:D I voted for "We Didn't Start the Fire" too. Roemello 3-26-02, 02:50 PM I went with 'We Didn't Start the Fire' as well  Although as a kid I remember being very fixated on the chick (Christie Brinkley if I'm not mistaken) in the uptown girl video  :D Silveradocruiser 3-26-02, 04:31 PM We didn't start the fire!! A brilliant song, from a brilliant artist! lostboy 3-26-02, 05:41 PM "A Matter Of Trust" I really liked this song ans I thought "We Didn't Start The Fire" was way overplayed. space-invader 3-26-02, 07:10 PM definately pressure from that list djdaffy1227 3-26-02, 07:40 PM "Pressure" Great song, great video! Iluvthe80s 3-26-02, 08:21 PM I voted for "Pressure". Recker 3-26-02, 08:51 PM Originally posted by Flix Uptown Girl. I don't know why Joel didn't just re-release his version! I went for "Tell her about it". I used to hate Billie Joel until I heard this song and after that I was hooked. Now I like all his old stuff too! JS 3-26-02, 09:45 PM We Didn't Start The Fire :) Christine 3-26-02, 09:47 PM My favorite Billy Joel song is "We Didn't Start The Fire", but a very close second is "A Matter Of Trust". :thumb: Steve Savicki 4-01-02, 11:02 AM Used to be "Allentown", but now is "You may be right" because "You may be right I may be crazy. It may just be a lunatic you're looking for." (http://80sxchange.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9675) wavemaster 4-01-02, 11:09 AM Am I a weirdo? Because I have always voted for "other" in the recent polls... My faves are a tie between "Leningrad" and "Downeaster Alexa"...whenever I hear those tracks, shivers are running down my spine, and that happens pretty rarely. My third choice would have been "We Didnīt Start The Fire" - a strong song with a strong message. Preppie 4-01-02, 12:35 PM I voted "other". I'm not a huge fan of Billy Joel's music from the 1980's, with the exception of "Glass Houses"(1980). I like his older stuff. But one of my favorites of his from the 80's is "Big Man On Mulberry Street". Every year at my Birthday, my friends would sing this song to me. Of course this was after we polished off our first case of Scotch of the night. ImSoooSure 4-02-02, 09:57 PM I've never been a real big Billy Joel fan but I voted for Pressure. I'm surprised it got so many votes. Sarg 4-02-02, 10:13 PM I voted for "Tell Her About It" Boggle 4-03-02, 08:10 PM I voted for Uptown Girl. "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" and "Matter of Trust" get runners-up. ValJ 4-03-02, 09:49 PM You may be right...I may be crazy...but it just may be a lunatic you're lookin' for....:naughty: Personally, though, my fave Billy Joel of all time is "My Life". Go ahead with your own life, leave me alone! ;) nolanbuc 4-04-02, 03:33 AM Very, very hard to choose, but I voted "Other" because my fave Billy Joel tune is "I Go To Extremes", which actually charted in 1990. But in the 80's my fave was "Allentown". Pippi 5-26-02, 09:33 PM I voted for Tell Her About It. His greatest hits collection is probably the cd box I know most of my friends own. It seems to be a classic among music lovers. Prefab Sprouter 7-22-03, 10:52 AM I went with "Allentown", its a great tune with a wonderful story to it. I always imagine that Bruce could have thought this one up as well! Bon Jovi 3-15-04, 04:26 AM We Didnt Start The Fire Is My #1 Fav! Followed By Uptown Girl, Pressure, It's Still Rock And Roll To Me, You May Be Right,& Allentown app4dstn 3-15-04, 10:07 AM there's umpteen great ones. but the one that stands head above shoulders for me: goodnight saigon galaga-girl 3-15-04, 04:57 PM There can only be one!!! We Didn't Start The Fire is by far the BEST song on this list!! I can remember making up my own lyrics and I love the film clip - they play this song a lot on MusicMax here and I just love the clip. Great song!! angeleyes25 3-15-04, 05:28 PM A Matter Of Trust BlitzKid 4-01-04, 02:11 PM I like most of his songs, but today I am in the mood for Pressure! :) Johnny Z 4-02-04, 08:07 PM I voted for "Allentown." I like the piano harmony in that one. Canadian80s 7-06-04, 09:51 PM Other - Scene from an Italian Restuarant .... C80's DJ Midas 7-22-04, 10:24 AM "Pressure" PaperGirl 7-22-04, 10:23 PM We didnt Start the Fire That song was awesome!!!! whistledog 7-28-04, 02:49 PM I can't choose because each Billy Joel song is equally good, so i picked Keeping the Faith solely based on the video with the courtroom and Billy throwing 45's at the judge, then dancing down piano steps. If that's not classic 80's, i dunno what is  Slayergrrl 7-28-04, 03:12 PM Other... Scenes from an italian restuarant Pagan 7-28-04, 03:54 PM From that list "A Matter Of Trust". A GREAT song who's lyrics have taken on a new meaning for me lately.... But on the whole...MANY MANY others were my favorites from the 80's.... New York State of Mind (my ALL TIME favorite) Miami 2017 The Ballad of Billy The Kid Captain Jack Downeaster Alexa There's just too many of Billy's songs that are awesome. I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's one of the greatest - if not THE greatest - songwriters that ever lived. Jeebs68 7-28-04, 04:46 PM Went with You May Be Right. I was going to pick "Other", but couldn't remember if Piano Man was 70's or 80's. 80s Queen 4-01-07, 02:37 PM There wasn't a bad song on that list. But, I went with "A Matter Of Trust." Like so many songs in The 80s, it had great memories for me. 80's fanatic 6-30-07, 11:09 PM 'Tell Her About It' was my pick. I just loved that song back in the day :D Caligula 7-03-07, 05:50 PM othe , my 80's pick is Goodnight Saigon, but overall I enjoy 70's Billy Joel the best, Anthony's Song, Captain Jack, Piano Man, etc Livinginthe80's 7-13-07, 08:40 AM What a great artist who has great songs across the decades. I voted for "You May Be Right", i may be crazy but it just may be a lunatic you're looking for. Yeah top song, that really speaks to me. "We didn't start the fire" is good too so that would have been my second choice.Another couple of great songs "Modern Woman" and "You're Only Human" (Second Wind), which i listen to both regularly. 80s Queen 7-14-07, 01:38 PM All good songs. And Hey! It's good to see you up here again. |
