I am a major Kate Bush fan and I'm not sure if I'd classify her as New Wave, but more so than Top 40, because she wasn't. So I thought this was the closest place to fit this in. :)

So Y'all, what was your favorite Kate Bush song of the 80's?

Gotta go with "Running Up That Hill".

'This Woman's Work' always gets to me.

I voted for 'Running up that Hill' - although my fav is probably 'Wuthering Heights'.

Definitely "Cloudbusting"!!! I love this beautiful song and the video featuring Donald Sutherland is wonderful and moving as well! :)

Kate Bush was very top 40 - In Britain.

My fave sorg of hers was "Love and Anger" with "Hounds of Love" a totally close second.

Great poll, Trixter! :)

Running Up That Hill. I absolutely love that song. I will never grow tired of the intro and Kate's voice. Beautiful song.

Thanks Flix!

Yeah Kate's great! Now that I think about it, I could have included "Wuthering Height", but was concerned because it was on her 1977 album "The Kick Inside", but she recorded a new vocal in the 80's! Doh! Well, if anyone thinks of it, it can be an 'other' vote. :)

This is very difficult for me, so it's a tie between two songs, "Houdini" and "Night Of The Swallow", both off of the album "The Dreaming", excellent songs!!! :thumb:

I went for Running Up That Hill, but This Woman's Work was probably equally as good.

Cloudbusting; anything off Hounds Of Love (http://www.cdnow.com/from=sr-181894/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=1470116616/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND/album.html/artistid=BUSH*KATE/itemid=327586) makes it the best for a poll!

"Heathcliff, it's me,
I'm Candy,
I've come home now.
it's so cold,
let me into your window..."

"Wuthering Heights"

So tough to choose. I went with Running Up That Hill. Love the extended version of that.

"come on, come on baby
come on, come on darlin'
come on, come on baby
come on, come on angel"

There was a track on the flipside of the 12" I used to have. It was called Under the Ivy (I think that's the correct title). Love that song too. Plus many, many more. :)

Her best song was her duet with Peter Gabriel, 'Don't Give Up'

This is a hard one because I have so many favourites! I really like Get out of the House, Wuthering Heights, Rubberband Girl, and The Morning Fog.

Tori Amos is often compared to her and I do find their music is similar:-)

I voted "other" because there's only one song by Kate Bush that I'm familiar with and that is "Wuthering Heights." I listened to the song to hear what the original song was like when I first learned that Pat Benatar did a cover of the song during the 80's.

"Running up that hill"... a close second place for "wuthering heights"

For me, it's "Babooshka" from her 1980s album 'Lionheart'...it's one of her most intense songs and her first Top 20 hit in Germany.

I say Hounds of Love and Cloudbusting tied! I was blown away by Cloudbusting. It sounded so....different and cool yet symphonic. Kinda like a song out of a fantasy novel. Did that make any sense? Hound of Love is fun to sing along to really loud.

So is The Big Sky and Sat In Your Lap :)

Hurray for that wavey! :D I thought I was a freak (well...) until I read that you also favoured Babooshka! I love that song - and Wuthering Heights is a rather close second!

Definitely Babooshka and Don't Give Up with Peter Gabriel.
The clip to Babooshka used to scare me a bit when I was little...weird huh? I have the video in DIVX format...cool!

Yep, Wuthering Heights is the best but it's not 80s...

it's not like me to vote for the biggest hit from an artist, but in this case, her biggest really was her best, so ... "Running Up That Hill", which BTW was originally supposed to be " A Deal With God!"

Actually, Wave, "Lionheart" came out in 1978. It was her second album after, "The Kick Inside".

I picked other, because my all-time favorite Kate Bush song is, "The Big Sky". I also love "Hammer Horror" and "Don't But Your Foot on the Heartbrake".

Oh and I thought "Babooshka" was on her "Never Forever" album. I'll have to reread her discography. :D

Running up that Hill was also the theme tune to a BBC series, so I've gone with that one!

I'm getting in that christmas mood, and was tempted to vote other: her 1980 xmas hit 'December Will Be Magic Again', but I went with 'Cloudbusting'. A classic indeed :thumb:
