Maybe it has something to do with the growing 80's nostalgia.

Ha s anybody here seen it. I heard that it is really terrible. But I don't trust critics and most moviegoers for that matter. I usually judge for myself.

I rememeber reading something Mariah Carey said about the music of the 80's being better or more fun, so this may be why "Glitter" takes place in the 80's. "Glitter" could also be loosely based on Mariah's life, and she would have been trying to break into the industry around the same time in the 80's.

About "Glitter", I've never seen it, nor do I want to! I will trust my judgement on this one! :) The film looks boring and predictable. I haven't cared for Ms. Carey, since the release of her third album. (I don't wish to offend anyone, just my opinion.)

Mariah has said in interviews that she loves the 80s and that the producers of the movie didn't want to set the movie during the 80s, but she said she would refuse to do the movie if they set it during present time. I haven't seen the movie and probably won't either, as I've heard that it's a real stinker! :p

Who knows why they supposedly set it in the 80's. What a cruel thing to do. I think I only liked Mariah's first few songs that she had in the 90's. Other than that..I don't like her music that much. Did anyone see her on Cribs?

I've seen "Glitter". It's not that bad, but it's not a movie I would watch again. Actually the movie is not very 80's at all, so don't watch it for that reason. I like Mariah Carey and her music, but I don't think she is a wonderful actress. Don't get me wrong, she is OK. If you like Mariah Carey, you will probably like "Glitter". I give the film a "C+".

Believe it or not, though it's easy to believe, "Glitter" never even opened up here in Corpus Christi! I must say I was surprised. I wouldn't have seen it anyway. :D

The answer is (drumroll) :

She's a waste of space and she was hoping to add some redeeming quality to her movie in some way

Why was Mariah Carey's Glitter movie EVEN MADE???:vibrator:

From what I've heard, it's not the most impressive film out there, but then again, I can't judge unless I go and see it.

As for why it was set in the '80's, I agree with everyone else's responses!:)
