I believe The VHS version has been discontinued , but it can still be purchased from e-bay etc, and since they are not making anymore VHS, I'd assume that there are no plans to release a DVD version..... A quick note Less than Zero is being released on DVD March 5th

I can't believe that movie is hardly available anymore..it's such an 80's classic..and the soundtrack..good 80's music!
I always think of that movie when I hear.."I know what boys like" by the Waitresses

This is not one of the better '80s teen movies in my opinion. I always thought it reeked of pure '80s cheese. I remember watching this in the early '90s and cringing through the whole film.

That is true, it wasn't the best movie..I haven't seen it in a loooong time. There was a time when some lame teen movies came out.

Like everyone has said ebay seems to be the only place to get it. Man, that was a great movie. Kinda sucked in the end, but what did you expect. Sometimes a girl just doesn't want a nice guy.(in the movies

I remember once Roger Ebert said something to the like of "from 1980-1986 every other film seemed to be a teenage How I Lost my Virginity film.

There are some great, classic '80s teen films like Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Sixteen Candles, and Pretty in Pink. These films are in their own stratosphere. These films don't have to try to be cool, they just are cool.

Then there are those movies that in my opinion are '80s teen cornball films. These films have never aged well. I remember cringing at these films by the late '80s, and definately by the time the '90s arrived. They're really cheesy and gaudy, at least in my opinion. Films such as The Heavenly Kid, Poision Ivy, Zapped!, No Small Affair, and I would definately put The Last American Virgin in this cheesy category.

My local Family VIdeo chain has a copy of it that I have rented on more than one occasion. The lady always looks at me funny when I bring it up to the counter. LOL!

I checked out the ebay auctions the other night and - wow! New copies going for a hundred bucks? Somebody bought a used one with "buy it now" for around 40 bucks.

Collectors item or something?

I mean, I'd like to see that movie again, but not that much

No DVD yet.

I must agree, this film isn't the best teen film of the 80's. It felt more like an after school special! The only redeeming quality of the film is the Lionel Richie song played throughout, I like the song! :D

Sidenote, if you want to see a good teenish 80's movie, "Say Anything" just came out on March 5th on DVD! :thumb:

NO, actually it was an artist by the name of James Ingram. The song was called "Just Once".
As for the film, it really hasn't aged very well. But that doesn't mean that I don't like it. It could have used a better director and the movie ended too abruptly just as it was getting interesting.

For those of you who don't like it. Check out a movie called "Lemon Popsicle". The Last American Virgin is virtually a remake of this film. In some respects it's actually better but still shares the same flaws of its successor.
