View Full Version : Unwind
After a hard day at work, school or at home with the kids. What do you do to unwind? What do you do to take your mind off your problems? Does it work?
After a hard day at work I love to just go home lock myself in the bathroom and run a nice hot bath and read a good book with some soothing music on the radio. I just have to becareful not to drop the radio in the tub:vibrator:*CALGON TAKE ME AWAY*
After a stressful day (like today) I like to get together with friends and just dance, joke and drink a few beers to unwind.
It depends on what has happened.
If it has been a pretty stressful day at work, a stop at the store to pick up a beer usually takes the edge off of it.
If its the kids, then I usually take a walk or a drive. That helps me keep things in perspective. I can then come back with a clear head and talk things out with them.
I like to relax and read a good book too. I like fantasy novels the best. If I can, I'll put on the headphones and read for quite awhile.
Iluvthe80s 2-27-02, 06:51 PM To unwind, I come home and get on the computer, or watch some TV, or take a hot bath.
fiya kraka 2-28-02, 06:39 PM To unwind, I turn on some tunes, light some candles and just relax.
If the weather is descent, I'll go across the street to the beach and chill. Listening to the waves always helps me unwind.
After a stressful day~ kickboxing works for me.:D
I can't let escape this opportunity of giving my own... :)
After a hard day of work (that means, when you feel you really have to kill somebody), I go to the gym to run or swin or play basketball or whatever you want, till being so tired that I cannot walk... it works...
And when I have a bad day... well , that's harder... sometimes reading a book, sometimes just walking and watching the people, the streets... I don't have a solution which works everytime. :(
space-invader 3-01-02, 04:42 AM i've always found the best way to unwind after a hard week of work is to have a huge exercise weekend so that by monday, i am totally physically exhausted (and yet my mind will be clear)
Depends on how stressful of a day I had.
I like to put on my favorite CD and surf the net. Sometimes I will put on my headphones and walk down to the dam. If it's been a very stressful day, than I go to bed...or shop!
80sTrivia 3-01-02, 08:59 AM I find that listening to my 80s compilation CDs always helps to relieve stress after a particularly harrowing day!!! It works better than Calgon for me!!!
Roemello 3-01-02, 07:17 PM Unwind? what's that? All I have for that is weekends. Take a long shower, browse the boards, listen to some tunes, go out to eat with friends and maybe catch a movie and/or go out on the town (or city rather if ya wanna get technical :p ) :)
I ususally come home and change into comfortable clothing, greet my dogs and let them outside. I get onto the internet and see what my friends are up to. This relaxes me and provides me with hours of enjoyment. Sometimes I'll come home and take a nap. Very boring eh? :)
How I unwind.... hmmm....that just depends on what events happened that day and how much energy I have. Sometimes it also depends on the green $$ situation.
I can put in 9 hours on the computer at work and come home for another 6 on mine, or I might watch a movie, or just leave. I used to rollerblade but I can't when it rains. Oregon has no shortage of rain.
Other than that... music, play a game, or go somewhere like an electronics store or just about any store.
I have given thought to taking a picture of people I come in contact with so I can print up their picture on a full size piece of paper and throw darts at it when they piss me off.
That's a nice way to unwind. :D

I tend to VENT, and vent hard, on Aron. Until he takes me in his arms and we just snuggle up. It takes a lot to bring me to that edge, (it's usually my mom), so sometimes it takes awhile to get me down. Cuddling is good for me....
If it's Aron that is the problem, I call Cindi, vent about men, and she tells me it's all normal, that I can't change it, to just accept it, and then I feel better.
Baths are the norm for just icky days.
Boards are for all the time in between, b/c this is my "happy place"!!!
The80sAngel 3-05-02, 02:21 AM My typical day's wind-down :
I turn on some tunes, usually 80's, kick back in chair, and close my eyes til Rebel's done for the day. When he's free, then we usually get together for a little sparring (that's right, I said sparring). ;) Nothing really relaxes me more than a good physical confrontation. :D It's usually karate, or kickboxing. After that, hitting the shower feels incredibly good and I feel totally relaxed and refreshed.
