Which was the worst one hit wonder? The one that you hated but it got stuck in your head and they always played it on the radio? And it made you go insane? :goofy: :vibrator:

I'm still deciding on my least favorite.

What an irritating song. It's used to bug me severely when ever it got played on the radio.

I like 80s music, but there was some crap in my beloved decade, and the worst mound of fetid shit was:

THE ELECTRIC SLIDE

Christ, that dance sucked pole, and the song was as annoying as Hell. When the movie I'm working on gets made, I've got a killer line about line dancing.

FOR THE SAKE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, LINE DANCES SUCK! WHEN YOU'RE ON THE FLOOR, *JUST BE YOURSELF*!

Sincerely,

John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

I have to agree with Recker. Maybe it was just the time when this was on, but everywhere I went, there was a boom box playing that awfull song.

Peter schilling did major tom coming home. I have to admit I like that song but that song by bobby mcfarin, dont worry be happy was horrible and the video even sucked big time.

Hard to say there were a lot of them but off the top of my head I'd have to say "Puttin On the Ritz" by Taco! I have always hated that song, so bringing it back was like a nightmare!
The only rendition of the song that's ever been tolarable is Peter Boyle's in the movie "Young Frankenstein"and as hilarious as that movie is that part always erks me!

"Get me out of here Get me the hell out of here! Don't you people know a joke when you here one? I was joking!!!"

Rico Suave was by GERARDO

However. I know it wasnt an 80s song, but it was, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION the worst one hit wonder song ever. I dont even know the name of it, but SOMEBODY will know it. It was the song by that like 6 or 7 year old and he was talking in french. The song was talking about how tough it was being a kid. SOMEBODY HELP ME OUT! THAT SONG IS THE WORST THING EVER IN ONE HIT WONDERVILLE!!!!!!!!

We are the World - that song was like drinking an entire bottle of syrup - so excessively sweet it made me vomit.

Mony Mony by Billy Idol always made me cringe too. Never liked that song at all and Idol's version wasn't any better.

Oops, Billy Idol wasn't a one-hit-wonder, so never mind.

This is hard, there are so many, many bad one hit wonders...but I'm gonna list a few:

"Don't Worry, Be Happy"...it's unanimous, high cringe factor!

"Love & Pride" - King...he just irritates the hell out of me and the song bombs big time!

"Baby Love" - Regina...used to like this song, but it's steadily grating my nerves!!

And for the record, I actually like Peter Schilling's "Major Tom (I'm Coming Home)" a great song! :thumb:

The song is "What's on Your Mind" by Information Society.

The one song that comes to my mind is "You Keep Me Spinning (Round and Round) by Dead or Alive. That has to be the most annoying song.

As for Don't Worry, Be Happy, I don't mind the song, though I agree the video sucks.

To end or increase your misery...the song you´ve meant was probably "Dur dur d´être bébé" by Jordy. As far as I know, it can be translated as "It´s hard to be a baby"...and in this case, I don´t want kids anymore. :D
It was released in 1993 and was a minor hit in Germany...and a big hit in France, I guess.

Oh...of course you are right - I would never object against your wife.
Seriously, I had taken the info from a Swiss chart page, and it claimed 1993 as the release year. Scary that even a remix of this track exists.

BTW, the CD "The Simpsons Sing The Blues" is pretty cool if you like this kind of music. "Do The Bartman" is the exception there - although I like it, too.

Speaking of the probably most hated track of the xchange, "Don´t Worry Be Happy" - I have seen an announcement today that Bobby McFerrin is soon coming to our hometown this April. Not that I have the urge to visit the concert...just wanted to let you know. ;)

Ohhh ma12lt you may have some serious opposition there! And the charts in 1984 did not agree with you. In fact FGTH had 2 hits in the top 10 at once. Relax and Two Tribes kept changing from positions 1 and 2. Relax was in the charts for most of 1984...

Oh, boy, I had to laugh at how many people dissed "Don't Worry, Be Happy" - which I hated, too. First of all, it is so opposite my personality, second, it was on the radio all the time when I was working at Ormond. Yup, three months of folding tank tops and manning the fitting room, listening to Bobby Farrin and "Red Red Wine" by UB40.

I also hated "19" by Paul Hardcastle, which I heard every time I went to the mall.

My least fave song from the 80s has to be "Shower Me With Your Love" (I think that's the name, that's the only line in the song I remember) that I heard at some bar in Georgetown. Not only did I hate the song then, I got dragged onto the dance floor by some marine I was trying to avoid, so it gained bad memories, too. Does anyone remember that song? I'm guessing 1989 or 1990...

Don't forget the shirts that said "Frankie says RELAX" and then the rebuttal shirts, "Who gives a sh!t what Frankie say?" (which got one of my classmates sent home from school for displaying obscenities). Thanks for reminding me of those shirts!

:8offtopic Brazil won its last World Cup in 1994, and before that one, did it in 1970 (1970+1994=3964).
Germany won its last World Cup in 1990, and before that one, did it in 1974 (1974+1990=3964).
Argentina won its last World Cup in 1986, and before that one, did it in 1978 (1978+1986=3964).

Following that rule, the winner for the 2002 World Cup is (3964-2002=1962) the winner of the 1962 edition... the country who won the World Cup in 1962 was Brazil.

And now the most important thing, the reason why all the Spaniard supporters are so happy... we have never won the World Cup, so
IT'S SURE THAT SPAIN WILL WIN THE WORLD CUP IN THE YEAR 3964!!!!

(Anyway, I've removed the banner from my signature... just because it's not too kind to remind you every day we're going to win the Cup :D)

Hey, at least "Boogie In Your Butt" was supposed to be a joke.

I'm late but I had to post to this thread because I just laughed like a maniac reading it. And some of these songs! Voyage Voyage? Boom Boom? Lambada? I haven't thought of those songs for ages! Maybe that's a good thing.

I have to admit I do like "Don't Worry be Happy" now. When it became a hit I knew Bobby McFerrin as a pretty serious jazz artist & was glad to see him having some fun. But man, did it get overplayed or what?

The first song I can think of that I absolutely hated is "Jam On It" by Newcleus. Wikki Wikki Wikki Wikki my ass.

But the one I hated most was "The Curly Shuffle" by the Jump 'N The Saddle Band. How in the world did that ever get released, much less become a hit?

Tom Cochrane did "Life is a Highway". I thought it was a catchy little tune, made me want to learn to play the harmonica (never did though).

The worst???????? In my humble (and sometimes wrong opinion) the WORST WORST WORST was Video Killed The Radio Star by The Bugles. That song drove me to drinking and I still haven't drank enough to kill that song permantley. Just that high pitched dual monotone singing makes me wanna go jump in front of a fast moving VW Beetle. And get this!!!!! I was a DJ at the time and HAD to play that piece of garbage!!!! Does anyone feel sorry for me??? (at least buy me another beer???) ....

Maybe not really a one hit wonder, but it was a hit and I still wonder why! ;-)

Walk Of Life by the Dire Straits

Boy did I hate that silly tune!

Alot of those mentioned..I like.

But.................. WHAT I AM...has got to be one of my least favorites. I love LIFE IS A HIGHWAY (I WANNA RIDE IT ALL NIGHT LONG...catchy isn't it? But then again..we could discuss this in the LL  )

LOL! Leave it to you to point out innuendo, girl!

As for annoying one hit wonders, I agree with the masses. "Don't Worry Be Happy" is a worthless song! They should destroy the master tapes for that song.

Puttin' on the Ritz by Taco is the worst 0ne hit Wonder of the 80s than all i've read here!! Also the song by Eddie Murphy, don't think it was a 1 hit, anyways!!

OPP-Naughty By Nature(technically its not an 80s song but still an awful one-hit wonder no less)

Come Back and Stay-Paul Young

Centipiede-Rebbie Jackson

Pac-Man Fever-Buckner & Garcia

Ride The White Horse-Laid Back

Don't Worry Be Happy drove me insane!!! And if it wasn't bad enough that we had to hear it over and over, like a broken record...everybody started wearing the blasted Don't Worry Be Happy tshirts

TTriggs, I like OPP, I even have it on my computer so I can listen to it every now and then

"How does it feel when you got no food... Paaaaass the cutchie on the left 'and side." :D

I am surprised nobody has mentioned Katrina And The Waves' "Walking on Sunshine" and the equally horrible "Shiny Shiny" by Haysee Fantasee. These two are up there with "Don't Worry, Be Happy" and "Puttin' On The Ritz."

Now, wat up wi Kaoma's "Lambada" I liked that song ;) Still play it in the car every so often. Good music vid too.

to make you sleep with me.."
Yecch. We did have fun though laughing at the video, making fun of the girl singer's huge protruding ears.

I hated "What I Am" by Edie Brickell and the Bohemians. The girl`s voice grated on me. I couldn`t understand why that song was sopopular.

How could I forget this! I still remember making fun of this, to the wrath of some other people who thought it was so cool. When she sang "Shuck me into shallow water before I get too deep" I said "There's not much chance of THAT!" They thought I was "mean."

Here's one to talk about if you're unlucky enough to have heard it: "I've Never Been To Me" by Charlene

I totally forgot about that song! Oh Boo, indeed! I know it's gonna get stuck in my head now!

What about "Dr. Mr. Jesus"? This song was awful, sung by some little kid about getting beat up by her parents. So sad, So bad.

That Charlene 'Never Been to me' song - do you mean the one that was in Priscilla Queen of the Desert? I loved that song. *prepares to be banned form this site forever* :bigcry:

That crappy murray head song"one night in bangkok". I have a version where they play some sort of like midevil stuff at the very beginning, and then they go into the song.

Puttin' on the Ritz by Taco is the worst 0ne hit Wonder of the 80s than all i've read here!! Also the song by Eddie Murphy, don't think it was a 1 hit, anyways!! You guys will get a kick out of this: I played that song of his"party all the time" a few months ago as i was a "guest DJ" somewhere??? the minute I played that song, believe it or not, the place went almost apesh*t. I just started to laugh.

You're right, "dont worry be happy" has got to be right up there at the top. I'd like to slap all the people at radio stations who helped make the song make it.

I totally agree with the Bobby McFerrin nominations.

Most of the one hit wonders I hated were the 90's. My least favorite was "Life is a Highway" song, I forgot the guy's name.
Arguably thee worst song EVER EVER EVER?????

That damn "macarena" song......ARGGGGGGGGGGGGG I hated that song and still do to this day. Those two idiots should be beaten to a bloody pulp, dipped in brown gravy, & then locked in a small room with a wolverine who's high on angeldust.

LOL! Leave it to you to point out innuendo, girl!

As for annoying one hit wonders, I agree with the masses. "Don't Worry Be Happy" is a worthless song! They should destroy the master tapes for that song.
EEK!!! wasnt that tom waites who did that???? how about that shitty song by the manhattan transfer?? That cool cool cutey tell us about the boy from NYC???? I despise that group and that song.

How about these "misses":

Tough enough-Fabulous thunderbirds
Keep your hands to yourself-georgia satellites
my sharona- the knack(if i hear that damn song one more time.....)
What i like about you-the romantics(see the last song)
pop goes the world-men without hats
Shut your mouth-julian cope
