Is your life interesting enough to write a book? Do you think anyone would buy it? Would you take the time to do it just to keep some memories your likey to forget if you don't write them down?

I don't think anyone would really care to read my life. lol But, I would like to read through memories.

This reminds me of that line by The Doors:

The program for this evening is not new,
You've seen this entertainment through and through.
You've seen your birth, your life and death,
You might recall all of the rest.
Did you have a good world when you died?
Enough to base a movie on?

The answer is No, nobody would probably buy my book or see my movie. And thats fine with me. And it doesn't keep me from writing down a few of my memories/stories. My grand father passed away last summer and I would love to find a journal kept by him. One of the reasons he probably didn't keep one was because he didn't think anyone would find it interesting. Boy was he wrong!

Frankly, if I wrote out my life story, nobody would believe a word of it, although I can assure you that it is absolutely true and it's a huge wonder that I am here at all.

I don't know if anyone would buy it, but I would really love to do that some day in the future - write my life story. Having the memories to read and remember whenever I wanted would be great.

Nope, some of my personality is a bit weird but I haven't really done anything in my life that would be truly interesting to other people.

lol Good question here. Some of the stuff that would be in mine might not be believed. Not sure anyone would want to buy it though. Not done with my life though, so it could get better. ;)

Ask my manager - I had to promise not to tell anything before the ghostwriter have finished the book.

I think that almost everyone leads or had led an life with some interesting facts IŽd like to read - at least some points should be good for a chuckle. ;)
I have sometimes thought about writing a story with some autobiographic details (of course, it would be located in the 80s), but unfortunately (or good for the world...depends on your POV), I neither have the talent nor the patience to hang in front of the computer long enough for typing in thousands of words. But in my mind, the story really reads great... ;)

Well, I am incorporating bits and pieces of my own life in the novel I'm currently writing, so I hope people will buy it!!! ;)

no one would buy my biography, cause basically were all unknowns, however I and I'm sure most of you can tell a few stories from your past that could keep us entertained. I know my office staff likes hearing some of the stories of the crazy things I did back in the early 80's. I have thought about writing a fictional story set in the 80's using many of the events that happened to my friends and I, but thats just one of the many thoughts that enter and exit my brain on a daily basis.

Maybe a forum should be set up to tell tales of our past called believe it or not :D

ya stole my line !!!!! That was exactly what i had to say, thank you very much !!!!! uhm......Pretty much all of what's been said is true, if ya keep all the crazy times and skip the dull ones, everybody has something interesting, now if ya tell verything in details w/o skipping anything, then it's gotta be boring !

I think my life would be too depressing to read about.

But I could make up some good stories.

I don't think my life would be much of a book..........a Soap Opera maybe, but not a book.

Oh the tales I have from my life!!!

Gretchen, maybe you and I should collaborate on a screenplay for a new soap, The Lives and Loves of a Fluff Chick!!! :smooch:

I think it's a fairly safe bet that more people than Pagan and myself would be interested in seeing your life story, Gretchen!!!

I think my early life would be much more interesting as a book than my current life. Who wants to read about a suburban mom who is a part time nanny?

I don't think anyone would want to buy a book on my life story. It has been pretty normal except for '94 - '99 (those were some pretty strange years). Other than that, not much to tell.

The 90s, well..........they are more sad than anything. The 80s part would be good, and the 00s are good. If there were a drug to erase just SOME of the memory, I'd definitly take it to wipe out the 90s.

Good question Ted.
My life story would make a great book. I have had so many obstacles in my life and some I am still dealing with. The only reason I would want my life story made into a book is so it could help other young women. I am an example that women with children can make it in this world. I would want women to know that they can walk away from an abusive relationship.
My book would be about HOPE.

I love to read my grandfather's journal. I think that writing down your personal history is very important to future generations even if it's not going to be something that is interesting to the general public. I think parts of my life in the 80s could be a rather interesting story 'tho. And the way I ended up with my husband is a good story too.

I bet you'd buy it Ted. And my friends would too.

There would be two very different chapters. My personal life, and my "career" life (well what turned into my career).

Unless someone is REALLY interested in the depressing parts, and how I learned what I do in my career, I doubt anybody would be that interested.

Well, If I wrote my autobiography I'm sure the dust jacket would collect just that, DUST! I couldn't imagine who would be interested in my life, besides me and my family. Not to say my life is boring, but just VERY average! :)

How did I miss this thread? *looks around* OK, I'm here now. :D

I'd eventually like to write novels for kids & teenagers... I've kind of started one, which is right now too closely based on reality, (Bogie & Chrisscross know what I'm talking about!) and eventually I'd like to finish it. I love to write, and all writers pilfer their own personal histories for material. (and their friends') Sometimes it just has to come out, and it doesn't matter how, or who's going to read it.

I'm kind of in an "off" phase of writing right now... I was too wrapped up in it and it was affecting my present life a little too much for comfort. I'm sure I'll go back to it someday. I think I need a little more distance & space to really understand what happened. I'm still looking from too close an angle.

I was a very regular journal-keeper until I was a junior in college. (ages 12 - 21) Since then I've tried to restart my old habit, but I haven't been successful. I probably post too much online, so I have nothing to say when I get home and open my journal, LOL.

I don't think it matters who you are or what you feel would interest other people. If it satisfies something inside you to write your story down, go for it. Off my soapbox now! hehe.

I did and it became a bestseller, millions of parents with newborn children bought it and said it cured their sleepless nights. One couple had it really bad though, they had to read up to two paragraphs before the child fell asleep.
