Omg!! I absolutely loooooove this movie!!!!! It is so hilarious!! I loved Randy Quaid, somehow, that role kind of fit him really well. This is definitely an 80's classic that no video collection should be without.

My fave one will always be the Vegas one.....I don't know why. 80sTrivia 2-20-02, 09:59 PM I loved all of the National Lampoon Vacation movies, especially the European and Christmas vacation ones!!! Chevy Chase is so dead-pan funny!!! He doesn't do very many movies anymore, does he? :) Caligula 2-20-02, 10:09 PM I loved a couple of them , and a coulple were so so in my opinion. My ranking of best to worst Christmas Vacation Vacation European Vacation Vegas Vacation :D Iluvthe80s 2-20-02, 10:19 PM Out of all of the "Vacation" movies, the first one was my favorite. I have watched it so many times and it still cracks me up! "European Vacation" is my second favorite. aaron 2-20-02, 10:20 PM Hmmm I didn't think Vegas Vacation was as funny as the rest. The airline toilet scene was funny (I won't spell it out for those who haven't seen it). That scene almost had my pissing my pants it was so funny. Other than that, I just wasn't too impressed. Most of the others were pretty good though. The last role I saw Chevy Chase in that I thought was funny was Dirty Work. Nikki_91 2-20-02, 10:39 PM The one vacation movie that I didn't really like was European Vacation. For some reason, I just couldn't really get into that movie. The first one was my favorite. "who's the moosiest moose around...MARTY MOOSE!" angeleyes25 2-21-02, 01:37 AM Originally posted by Nikki_91 Omg!! I absolutely loooooove this movie!!!!! It is so hilarious!! Your right.I have it in my video collection.I also have European and Christmas Vaction, the only one I don't have is Vegas Vaction.I really didn't care for that one.I didn't like the new actors that played Chevy Chase's kids.National Lampoons Vaction is my favorite out of the 3. Trixter 4-01-02, 01:13 PM Great movie, I remember seeing this at the theater, I snuck into the theater without paying, but that's another story. :) I went to see this mainly because Christy Brinkley was in it and I wanted to see her acting debut! :D I thought she did great for the small part she had and Imogene Coaca was hilarious in this film!! She stole the show at times!! A true 80's classic all the way!! :thumb: Chasey 4-01-02, 01:45 PM Vacation is an all time classic. The only follow up worthy of it was Christmas In my opinion. And hey you guys - if you all thought it was such a classic how come it trailed in a poor 3rd place in the recent 'best comedy of '83' poll, hmmm? :tsk: I don't know.... (Chopper walks away muttering) Pagan 4-01-02, 04:05 PM Originally posted by Caligula I loved a couple of them , and a coulple were so so in my opinion. The moose back there should have told you." rocketcharlie 4-01-02, 04:18 PM This fantastic Chevy Chase farce is just another one of those pull-from-the-shelf comedy classics that I just can't help but love.. anything that makes me laugh THIS much deserves to be viewed way more than once. I remember it wasn't always like that for me, though. When my husband first suggested I watch this video with him (when we were first dating), I thought to myself.. "you've GOT to be kidding me.. a National Lampoon's movie?!" But being the devout, adoring girlfriend that I was, I bit my tongue and braced myself for the worst.. I've been wrong many, many times in my life. This is just one example of those times. I liked the movie immediately. I have sense grown to love it. Chevy Chase plays the bumbling, eager Clark W. Griswold, a husband and father who pledges to take his family on the best vacation ever. He decides to visit the popular amusement park "Wally World", located, unfortunately, halfway across the country. No problem! Buy a new station wagon.. load up.. and hit the road. Did I say no problem? The viewer will quickly notice that things are not going to go as planned for the Griswold family. Case in point: the new car they ordered isn't exactly what was delivered. Omen of bad things to come? You bet. Bad, but extremely hilarious. What follows for this road-tripping family is nothing short of a series of catastrophes that would send a normal group of people back to their own roof and bed as quickly as the rumbling station wagon could get them there. In fact, everyone but Clark does want to retreat, surrender, and admit defeat. He, however, will not hear of it.. and ultimately turns himself into a half-crazed vigilant lunatic on a quest for vacation justice. The Grisworld family encounters street thugs.. a hilarious visit to wife Ellen's cousin Eddie and his backwoods, nightmarish family.. the addition of Aunt Edna as a car companion.. the untimely death of her (and her dog!) during the drive.. and the ultimate horror: upon arrival, realizing that Wally World has been closed for repairs. This movie is not intended for a young audience; however, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys pure comedy without thought to the "artistic value" or "cinematic achievement" of a film. I'm sure most of you have seen this comedic gem at one time or another.. but I challenge you to dust off the video case and watch it again. I dare you not to laugh when cousin Eddie serves Hamburger Helper without the hamburger.. Even worse.. try to maintain your composure when Clark has his end-of-the-road vacation breakdown. You can't do it! CinderGirl 4-02-02, 03:17 PM This is my favorite one! Second would have to be European Vacation. ;) Polar Bear Jeff 4-02-02, 03:18 PM Gotta love the Lampoon movies!
