Where were you when you first saw an R rated movie?

I was about 11 and it was "Breakdown" with Kurt Russell. I had seen parts of R rated movies since my parents used to take me to them when I was really little and I would fall asleep. It was only $4 or so (for the child ticket), much cheaper than hiring a babysitter (maybe $25) whenever they wanted to go out and see a movie. Yeah, but "Breakdown" was the first R movie I ever really watched.

In the cinema? ;)

Okay...there was a little cinema at the holiday park we used to visit, and the guy who was selling the tickets didnīt obviously cared who was watching the movies...otherwise, I could not have watched Mad Max with being 11 years old. :D

Who knows...if I had stayed in my seat after the movie, I might even had seen the last feature of the night, the X-rated flick...

The first r-rated movie I saw was on HBO..without parental supervision I might add. It was American Gigolo with Richard Gere. My brother and I kept changing the channel if we heard my parents coming down the hall. I want to say this was in 80/81...I was in the first or second grade.

Weirdly enough, at home with my dad, and it was more like an X-rated movie. I came early (midnight - early for me in those days) and a local TV station was showing "Emmanuelle - Story of a Woman". My dad flips over to it to see what all the fuss was about, and we ended up watching it together, laughing our guts out! Especially at the dubbed voices, that made the husband sound like he had one of the electronic voice-box thingys they give people who can't speak. The movie was so stupid that we were laughing too hard to get embarrased about watching the crappy simulated sex!

This was supposed to go in the r-rated movie thread. I'm new and don't know what I'm doing yet!

My first R-rated film was Barbara Striesand and Ryan O'Neil in "The Main Event". Cindi's parents took us to see that when we were little girls. I don't even remember the year, all I know is that I was in elementary school.

My parents used to take us to the drive-in, and we'd get to watch the first movie (which was always either G or PG), and then we were supposed to go to sleep while they watched the second movie. But if the second was a horror movie, I was allowed to stay up. I've watched horror movies as long as I can remember, and most of them are rated R.

The first R movie I ever saw on my own though was on a school trip to a small town in Ontario (Canada). The girl I was staying with had an older sister who lived in downtown Toronto, so we went and stayed with her one night. We took the subway to the movies, and saw Fatal Attraction.

I was 14 when my mother dropped off myself and a friend at the movies one holiday. We said we were going to see a particular kids movie but instead went to see an R16 - Summer Lovers (With Daryl Hannah)

It was a buzz seeing a movie like that at such an age. But today of course, it's pretty tame for an R16

I think the first R rated movies I saw in a theatre were Midnight Express and The Warriors. I was fortunate enough to find one of those old style theatre's where they never really checked age, so I was watching R rated movies since I was 14 or 15. I think back now to how I would try and pretend I was 18 at the ticket booth counter by making comments outloud , like " ah it's good to see an R rated movie is playing and not that kids stuff". ( man what a dick I was):)

I remember it well. My best friend( at that time) father took us to see Escape from New York with kurt russell. IT was like 1981 I was either in 7th or 8th grade. We wanted to see it because half of the movie was filmed in my home town, st louis. It was a great movie. Also adrienne barboobs oh sorry barbeau looked really good in that movie.  :D

My Mom was not in her right mind when she took me and my brother with her to see "Papilion" in the mid-70s. I had nightmares about that movie and cannot watch it to this day.
She also took us to see "The Exorcist". Like I said, she was not in her right mind.
Maybe that explains how I became such a Rocky Horror freak in High School!!!!!

I remember going with my parents to a local drive-in that showed old movies. The movie playing was Taxi Driver, with Bobby De Niro and Jodi Foster. My sister and I spent all of our time playing at the playground, but everytime we heard a curse word or saw a flash of nudity, we'd look at the screen and giggle!!!

I think the first rated R movie I saw was "Fast times at Ridgemont high". I saw it at a friends house when it came out on video.

I also got to see alot of R rated movies prior to VCR's because one of my friends father was in the Navy , I guess the entertainement section ?. He used to get movies to be shown on ship or the mess hall etc, and bring them home to watch for a night. We'd have to sit set up a projector and change the reel of film every 40 minutes or though, but we were getting to watch movies at his house that had basically just left the theatre's a week ago. Boy we watched alot of movies on the wall of their livingroom.:)

I was about 15 and had met my friend and her dad at the mall to go spend the night at her house, but we were going to see a movie first. Her dad told us to go watch something PG because he was going to see "Risky Business". When we got to the ticket booth 'tho my friend said "Three for 'Risky Business'." Her dad just rolled his eyes, but didn't say anything, so we got in.

I don't really recall how old I was, I had to be pretty young. My father use to take me to see Kung-Fu movies everyweekend. Some of those actually had alot of violence and nudity. Needless to say, some of the opening movies were pretty bad themselves.

Most of my rated - R movies were all horror films.

The movie was "10" with Dudley Moore still one of my favorites beacouse of "first time". And Bo Derek WOW!

I can't remeber, I was always allowed to see R-rated movies if they weren't too bad, I saw that movie "Species" at age 8 or 9. Of course my mother wouldn't have allowed that. lol but, she wasn't home. :D

DC Cab, Willowbrook Mall. My friend Mariah's mother bought the tickets for us. I don't remember anything about the movie, though. :)

I didn't go to the theatres, but when I was 12, I rented Lethal Weapon 3...nice way to break into the "R" rated genre.

Not like my friend whose first "R" rated movie was SHOWGIRLS!:goofy:

Like some other people that posted, our family would go to the Drive-In during the '70s, so I can't even remember the 1st "R" rated movie I went to. I do know that I talked my stepmonster into taking me to see "Walking Tall Part II" because Leif Garrett was in it! I'm guessing that was around 1976 or 77!
Was "Jaws" rated "R"? I went to see that in the theatres when it came out ('75)

I think the first one I saw was "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", when it was on HBO late one night. I was probably 9 or so.

We had HBO so I would sneak and watch R-rated movies all the time. Late at night. I guess the first one I saw was Revenge of the Nerds. Angel Heart was also one of the first.

Actually, Jaws is rated PG! (I'm pretty sure.) I've never seen it, because I know I would never go swimming again!
