Who is your favorite 80's female country singer? It's tough! :)

There was one country singer I was into briefly that was 80's and that was Sylvia. Anyone remember her?

I voted "Other," and my favorite is Nanci Griffith. She got to be more pop/folk/country crossover in the late 80s and 90s, but her 80s albums are old-school. ;) My favorite Nanci album is Last of the True Believers.

Reba! Just loved the way she sang.

Iluvthe80s....Yes...I remember Sylvia...she sang "Nobody" I think I still have my 45 of that somewhere.

Dolly Parton has a wonderful voice also....she is great and seems to enjoy what she is doing.

Reba & Martina are really good too. But as I said...other is FAITH HILL who has been one of my fave's for a few years now.

Faith hill didn't debut until well into the 90's, this is a poll on best 80's female country singer :)

OOPs.....:o You're right. I just scanned through the artists and saw that Faith wasn't on there. 80's fave female artist would have to be Dolly Parton then. Or Tanya, or Reba.

Crystal Gayle. I always wanted to have hair that long. Of course, she was more popular in the late 70s. Other than her, I guess I would go with Lorrie Morgan.

I voted "Other" because one of my favorites is Chely Wright, but now I'm not sure if she started out in the 80's or 90's. My other choice would then be Reba McEntire.

Had to go with other, for 80's C&W singer. It would be the ever so lovely Barbara Mandrell! :D

I think of Lorrie Morgan as more of a 90's artist. "Leave the Light on" came out in 89, but that was it, everything else was 90's. I do like her though. ;)

Dolly Parton.

This was a very tough one to choose, Trixter. I finally voted for Emmylou Harris. I've always loved her amazing voice and her lyrics are always so deep and touching. My fave 80s song from Emmylou is "Ashes By Now", which Lee Ann Womack recently did a cover version of... :)

Rodney Crowell did the original version of "Ashes by now". He actually hit top 40 pop with it! Agreat song all the way around!

I had to go with my girl, Reba. I just love her work. And, she's from my home state which is just a bonus. :lol:

I'd never heard Rodney Crowell's version of "Ashes By Now", DJ. It is a great song. I was wondering if Rodney wrote the song "Runaway Train" which Roseanne Cash performed? That's another country song that I really enjoyed.

A difficult question to be sure! I went with Crystal Gayle because she was so versatile and had that cool long hair! :D She also came from serious country music stock, being Loretta Lynn's little sister.:)

I remember Sylvia! She had a unique voice and was quite the looker.:naughty:

Reba has very FEW songs that I don't like.. she is close to the only country I actually can listen to.. she definitely has my vote!!! btw.. anyone seen her show?

Her voice is so strong.. and her lyrics are moving.

I voted for Dolly. She has such a sweet voice!

Mine was by far Reba!!!! She was so cool and had a really powerful voice that still gets to me.

Juice Newton would be a close second for me. I absolutely loved the song "Playing with a queen of hearts". It actually got a lot of airplay on mainstream radio stations.

I like a lot of old Dolly Parton songs, so I voted for Dolly.
