Did anyone ever watch this sitcom starring McLean Stevenson and child actress; Kim Richards back in late 70s early 80s? It ran for 35 episodes about a divorsed DJ who had custody of his two teenaged daughters.

This show wasn't aired in New Zealand until the 80s and I had a huge crush on Kim Richards who played Ruthie Alder.

It also had strong connections with the show Different Strokes. It was even said to be a bit of a rip off of One Day at a Time due to the similar situation of a divorsed parent with teenaged daughters.

Any other fans out there?

I found this out about Kim Richards:

Where is she now?: Kim Richards starred in 17 Disney movies (including Escape to Witch Mountain) and plenty of TV shows before basically retiring from acting at 18. After Hello, Larry she appeared in Meatballs II, Tuff Turf, and Escape (1990 - produced by her then-husband G. Monty Brinson and co-starring her sister Kyle). She is now 36 years old and is twice divorced and has 4 children: Brooke, 14; Whitney, 10; Chad, 9; and Kimberly, 5. She lives just outside of Palm Springs, California in a 6,000-squ.-ft. ranch-style home, paid for by film residuals and real estate investments. She is engaged to a Saudi Arabian oil man.

I remember the show Hello, Larry. It was a spin-off from Diff'rent Strokes, but it didn't last very long, as Recker mentioned. I often wondered what happened to Kim Richards. Good to know that she's doing well, and didn't wind up like some of her other early 80s sitcom counterparts, such as Dana Plato and Todd Bridges. Thanks for the update, Recker. :)

I remember watching this show every now and then. I remember McLean Stevenson's character being a psychologist on a call-in show at a radio station. He hung out with a Harlem Globetrotter on the show, can't recall his name though.
Kim Richards' career has been very fruitful indeed, I remember watching her on "James At 15", anyone remember that show??
I also remember her being blown away in "Assault On Precinct 13", one of the great John Carpenter films of all-time! That scene still shocks me to this day!!

James at 15!!! Now there's a blast from the past. I used to love this show. I had almost forgotten that Kim Richards was on that program. Now the question is, whatever happened to Lance Kerwin?

Meadowlark Lemon I believe Trixter. Lemon? Was that his surname?

I went to see the movie Tuff Turf in the early 80s just because Kim Richards was in it. She was good in that. It's a pity she never continued her career, but like you said 80sTrivia, at least she didn't go down that road to distruction like some of her friends from Different Strokes. (Who she was real life friends with apparently).

That is indeed some very interesting information about Lance, Trixter. It's good to know that he's cleaned up his act, but I suppose he's now officially retired from show biz. :)

I do remember "Hello Larry". I also remember Kim Richards being a staple young actress of the 70's. She's one of the people you always wonder what happened to them. Thanks for the updates on both Kim and Lance Kerwin, as well.

Hey thanks for the updates on Lance & Kim, Recker!
I always wondered what happened to Kim Richards. I loved her work on "Hello Larry" and "Tuff Tuff". McLean Stevenson was a very good actor and very funny. I enjoyed him a lot when he starred in M.A.S.H. when it first came to tv.
