Hey Y'all,
I'm curious to know, that is if you remember, what you used to watch on Saturday mornings while growing up? What was your routine, if you had one? Did you wake up early?
For me, I used to wake up at 5:30 am on Saturday mornings turn on the set and wait for the test pattern to clear at 6:00 am. I set up my blanket, pillow and toys around me in the den. My programming line-up was as follows:
Josie & The Pussycats
Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?
Speed Buggy
Adventures Of The Blue Falcon & Dynomutt
Valley Of The Dinosaurs
All-Star Laugh Olympics
Thundarr The Barbarian
Adventures Of Godzilla
Looney Toons Hour
Marty & Krofft Hour
American Bandstand
God bless Hanna-Barberra for their great Saturday mornings! :thumb:

I know I used to get up about 7am. I don't remember the exact order of the lineup, but here are some of them I watched:
The Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Hour
Scooby-Doo
Fat Albert
American Bandstand
...my mind is drawing a blank to the rest. I guess i'm getting old and can't remember.

I used to wake up very early too on Saturday mornings to watch cartoons. I got up around 6:00 AM. Usually, some of the older cartoons were on, such as The Archies, Woody Woodpecker, Caspar, Might Mouse, etc.
Then it would be:
Scooby Doo
The Smurfs
Super Friends Hour
The Chipmunks
Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour
Then later:
American Bandstand
ABC Weekend Special
Dance Party USA
Horror in the Afternoon (kitschy old- B horror movies) :)

There are soooooo many cartoons from that time, I can't recall them all. Saturday morning cartoons were part of my existance through the '80s, till I was about 13 or 14. By then it was basically the '90s and most of the Saturday cartoons started to really suck, and the idea of Saturday toons were slowly dissappearing from the networks too.
But two Saturday '80s toons that always stick out in my mind are:
Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends
The Incredible Hulk
Both cartoons took liberties with the characters. Spidey is a loner, but this series teamed him up with Iceman and Firestar. I still loved it though, it had the coolest music. The Hulk cartoon was pretty much on target, except for the silly way Bruce Banner's clothes would magically morph back onto him when he would un-Hulk. The Hulk series like all '80s toons, had very cool music too.
Also:
Rubiks Cube
Goldie and Action Jack (not sure of the title)
Scooby-Doo
The Littles
The Smurfs
The Real Ghostbusters
I would list Transformers, He-Man, Voltron, M.A.S.K, G.I. Joe, Inspector Gadget, and Thundercats, but those shows didn't appear on Saturday mornings. At least not by my memory. They were always on weekdays.
The '90s did however produce some top notch mature animated versions of comic book heroes on weekdays, such as the Batman Animated series, and the Superman Animated series. I recall sometimes the networks did actually line these two toons up on Saturday mornings, bringing back an '80s feel to Saturdays. And ofcourse great prime time toons such as The Simpsons, and The Critic.

Yay! Another Spidey & his Amazing Friends fan :D We are few and far between, you know!
Here's a site where you can view the TV schedules (http://www.inthe80s.com/saturdays.shtml) from 1973 through the 90s... to refresh your memory. I may come back later with a detailed list for me, but for now, I need to get some work done ;)
