This award is given to a group or singer who has managed to keep making albums nearly every year (from the 80's to present), tour, and have stayed in the limelight in some way from the 80's to the present. Again, six choices as always. Yes, I know there could have been more choices, but by doing some research these choices stayed working continuously the most. This voting session will end on 3/2/02.

I'm gonna have to go with U2.

It is a lot tougher for a band to stay together and go on performing than it is for a solo artist.

I think that U2 have survived so well because of the lack of egos in the group. You can see that the other members of the band are only too happy to let Bono take the spot light.

I picked U2 also, Madonna would have been the only other one I could have picked. Both have continually stayyed in the limelight since the 80's, but i like U2 and they have a way of changing their style while remaining popular

I voted for my favorite, U2.

Truth be told though, Madonna is really a close tie. She's managed to continue to gain a new fanbase in this, her 3rd decade in the music business. I still can't believe sometimes that she's the same singer that once 'sounded like Minnie Mouse on helium'. I've always been impressed with her. She's definately earned my respect and I totally get her point of view and the joke.

I picked Duran Duran. I've never been much for U2.

It's obvious who I voted for!

I voted for Madonna, she is STILL the biggest female artist in history!! She's a multi-talented superstar!
Madonna has had enormous success in her recording career, she holds several Guiness records. She's released 15 records in 20 years, toured 5 times, starred in countless movies, has the most videos on MTV, done several commercials, helped and received awards for her education and awareness of Aids, and on top of it all, she's a mother of two. That is just the surface, she's a true ICON! :) :thumb:

I had to vote for U2.
I recently read a not too flatering article on U2 after they did the Super Bowl. But even while the author was criticizing them, he had to admit that, despite a few albums that stank, U2 has been better longer than anyone else. And I have to agree.

I know you guys thought I would pick Duran Duran, but I felt someone else deserved it more. All of these people deserve it, but Tina Turner is my pick for this. She has been rocking since the 60's when she performed with Ike Turner. Even through those rough years, she kept going and landed her most successful album to date in 1984 with "Private Dancer". Plus made her movie debut with 1985's "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome".

She has managed to keep making albums and tour through the years even now at the age of 60. Her shows (from what I can tell on TV) are full of energy. I would love to see her in concert someday. She is one of my all time favorite female singers next to Pat Benatar.

u2 have been popular for a number of years too (personally though i find them boring :sleepy: )

My vote goes for Bon Jovi. What other 80's "hair band" is still around in the Top 40 and making a difference in music today? Just look at their two SOLD OUT nights at Giants Stadium, which seats somewhere around 80,000 people. They sold out Giants Stadium in 1989 and in 2001. That's all I need to say. :D BON JOVI ROCKS! :banger:

I voted for Bon Jovi, but if I could vote for two I would vote for Madonna also.

I have to agree with Christine - Bon Jovi has fit the bill since the word go. They've sold out concerts for most of their career and continuously shaped and influenced music since the 80's. I'm biased towards U2, but Bon Jovi seemed to fit the criteria better.

I went with Duran Duran. Although I like a bunch of Madonna's songs, she and Bono are too political for me.

In POP music, it has to be Madonna. :thumb:

The Cure is my favourite from the list followed by U2, but I voted for Madonna because she has been the most consistent.

I voted for Tina too!

Back in Oct of 2000 I finally saw Tina in concert for the first time.
It was truely an amazing concert. By far one of the best concerts I have ever gone too.
