View Full Version : Favourite Thompson Twins song
A typically "80s" group, as mentioned in an old thread and one of my favourite groups of the 80s. Seeing as these poll threads are so popular, I thought I'd add this one.
What was your favourite Thompson Twins song?
I went for "You take me up". It was something a little different and there is just something about that song that makes me want to play it on a regular basis. (But then that's the case with a lot of Thompson Twins songs).
this charming man 2-15-02, 02:52 AM I voted for hold Me Now, it's a great romantic song.
angeleyes25 2-15-02, 03:01 AM Anthor vote for "Hold Me Now"
I voted for "Hold Me Now", that is just a beautiful song. "King For A Day" came in a close second, it holds some great memories from High school! :thumb:
"Lies"... I danced it to die in the 80s...
I voted for 'Doctor Doctor' although never really got into the Thompson Twins.
80sTrivia 2-15-02, 06:38 AM I, too, voted for "Hold Me Now"... this song is an 80s classic and quite timeless. I've heard it countless thousands of times and never grow tired of it. And, like Wonder Twin, "King For A Day" runs a very close second!!!

Iluvthe80s 2-15-02, 07:07 AM I voted for "Lay Your Hands On Me".
Roemello 2-15-02, 09:03 AM I went with 'Hold Me Now'....'Doctor! Doctor!' was the only other I really liked outta them :p
Roemello 2-15-02, 02:05 PM Gladly...{{hugs}} Oops! Sorry...couldn't help myself ;)
mabas9395 2-15-02, 05:14 PM My top 3, in order:
Hold Me Now
Lay Your Hands On Me
King For A Day
This band has 80's written all over it.

Me too.
Christine 2-15-02, 08:38 PM I voted for "Hold Me Now". Good song! ;)
idexpectnoless 2-16-02, 12:17 AM Gotta go with the flow on this one: Hold Me Now.
LadyMysTrix 2-16-02, 11:13 AM I voted Hold Me Now as well.
xistenza 2-16-02, 02:08 PM Hold Me Now - hands down. The lyrics, the meloday, the vocals....simply brilliant!!
:)
Shortie Blonde 2-16-02, 02:35 PM Hold Me Now is/was an 80s master piece. I chose it as well.
Therrall 2-16-02, 05:47 PM Aww yes, I voted for "Hold Me Now" as well, a great song:)
javajane 2-16-02, 06:16 PM Of course "Hold Me Now" is excellent, and I do really love hearing it, but my vote went to the lesser known "Sister of Mercy"...which I was listening too today.
~JJ
Sister of Mercy is such an under rated song I feel. I love that one too.
Looks like "Hold me now" is going to be the predictable winner of this poll.
I voted other...Their song that I really liked was Nothing in Common from the movie of the same title. It didn't get as much air play as Doctor Doctor or Hold Me Now (both excelent songs) but was my favorite.
FamilyTiesFan 2-24-02, 05:55 PM I voted for "Hold Me Now"
dischordia 3-03-02, 12:56 AM Voted for 'Lies', such a funky beat and you could dance to it.
It was hard trying to put the rest in order because I loved The Thompson Twins. I'd have to go with:
Love On Your Side
Lay Your Hands On Me
Hold Me Now
Doctor! Doctor!
It's the choruses, man, the choruses.
I voted for Doctor Doctor. :)
ImSoooSure 5-21-02, 01:12 AM King For A Day is by far my favorite. I love that song.:)
BlitzKid 5-21-02, 02:55 AM Hold me now is good, but the other songs are so much better!!! My Nr. 1 is Detective, followed by The Gap and Lay your hands.
They are all so very good.. but I voted for
Doctor Doctor!
sketcher 5-21-02, 10:33 AM Mine is um....can't pick just one! I was such a huge fan in the 80s. I'd say Lies for sure but there were so many others I liked. Like "No Peace For The Wicked".
HOWEVER...I think I am the only one who never cared for 'Hold Me Now'. Back in the 80s, liking the Twins wasn't very popular. And no one I knew cared about them. When 'Hold Me Now' cam eout, I thought "EW! How boring and dull!" but of course, everyone else loved it...
:)
fav song:
"you take me up.....
so high that I can't come down.."
I think it's really cool that the girl wrote the lyrics, he sang them, and they fell in love, and moved to Borneo or whatever, and are still together. ahhhh :)
80s hair 5-21-02, 01:52 PM King For A Day
Hold Me Now by faaaaaaaaaar! One of the very few songs I never get sick of hearing over & over again. :)
This was hard, but I voted for Doctor Doctor. It was a tie between that and Hold Me Now. They had so many hits and so many good songs. I really like the Into the gap cd.
Into the Gap was a great CD. I don't think there was a song I didn't like on that one. The title track is one of my favourites of theirs.
