View Full Version : Who was your favorite Smurf character?

I was wondering if anyone had a favorite character on the Smurfs? I think my favorite character would have to be the wicked wizard Gargamel and his equally nefarious cat, Azryl. I kinda felt sorry for the big doofus the way he could never catch and keep those smurfs, either to eat or to make gold from!!! My favorite of the Smurfs would be Clumsy. He just had an endearing quality about him. Brainy would be my least favorite; way too annoying. :D

The baker smurf was my favorite, whoever he was. (Probably just Baker Smurf!) He was completely concerned with his art and his art alone. :D I also liked the one who handed out the exploding presents. (the Crazy Harry of the Smurfs)

Gargamel was one of my favorites, too... when we read through Schubert's Unfinished Symphony in college orchestra, somebody called out, "Hey, it's the Gargamel Song!" and our conductor was disgusted. Heh.

Grouchy was funny and so was Gargamel.

I actually hated the smurfs but for some reason watched them anyway. I think I preferred Hefty because he was the tough guy smurf!

Oh and I had this enormous crush on Smurfette!!!!

JUST KIDDING!

I kinda liked Hefty and Handy, and their ongoing battle for Smurfette's attention; but my favorite had to be Smurfette. One female and 99 males... no wonder they were all blue!

I loved Vanity smurf! He just killed me! Grouchy was a close second though. Hard to resist him.
My friends and I made up a couple of smurfs too. Thrasher smurf had a big ole anarchy sign on his hat, and Metal smurf had these huge spiked wrist bands. LOL! :D Wish I still had some pictures of them.

Now, why am I not surprised by that, Darla? ;)

I knew a boy in school who was an excellent artist, and he drew his own versions of Smurfs, including Psycho Smurf and Punky Smurf. His sketches were a riot!!!

There's all kinds of funny Smurf parody sites... including those that deal with the question of Smurfette's origin. (she was created by Gargamel to tempt the Smurfs! Seriously!!)

I'm just posting these for giggles.

This article collects a lot of the more popular Smurf "analysis" sites, you might get a kick out of them. *G*

This one is really the classic.

Papa Smurf was a Communist?!? So, that's why he always wore red!!! I suppose Gargamel was Stalin to Papa Smurf's Lenin! The addage "some people have too much time on their hands" rings very true to the person who created that web site!!!

You know I get the impression that Vanity is a fruit, but maybe that's why I like him. And I think Brainy is a prelude to Harry Potter. Just LOOK at him! And I liked grampa smurf...

LOL... Vanity was a bit of a flamer, now wasn't he? Grandpa Smurf was an old curmudgeon, not unlike Grandpa Simpson... maybe Bill Groening modeled Abraham Simpson on Grandpa Smurf!?!

I think I disliked the Smurfs almost as much as Strawberry Shortcake or Rainbow Bright. They were so sweet they made my teeth hurt! I'm pretty old school cartoon; Tex Avery, Bugs Bunny and the like. Actually, it was so weird - around early high school, it seemed everyone was hooked on "The Transformers." Another good one was "The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse." The character Bat-Bat and his trusty sidekick Tick killed me! Of course the Christian Fundamentalist types got their panties in a knot when they insisted the flowers Mighty Mouse was smelling weren't innocent poppies, but rather poppies that enabled him to get high. Good grief!

Yep, the Ralph Bakshi version had an undeserved bad reputation. I loved it when it was on.

I don't know how I ever missed that "Smurfs that never made it" link Roem, but I've been howling over it :D Thanks!

I guess those same Christian Fundamentalists that claimed that Mighty Mouse was snorting cocaine were the ones that said one of the Tele Tubbies was a supposed gay icon or something equally silly. I think these people have too much time on their hands...

I Remember gargamel and his cat. Probably because I havent seen the show in such a long time, maybe thats why I cant remember the little guys.

Ok, my favorite smurf was Vanity, but I thought Baby Smurf was pretty cute. I wanted to take him home with me. And nobody's said anuthing about Astro Smurf yet! I loved him!

.I forgot about the Smurflings. There was Nat, Slouchy and Sassette. I think there was another one, but I don't remember his name

Actually, Sassette wasn't a Smurfling. The Smurflings created her. The other Smurfling was Snappy.

Handy was my favorite. I enjoyed Brainy also, so freaking conceited about his own intellect!!

As far as some of the rhetoric on the origins of Smurfette, if Gargamel can create a female Smurf, why can't he just make 100 Smufs to eat for dinner and another 100 to make into gold?

Anybody remember Wild Smurf, he wore a caveman outfit a la Fred Flintstone. They found him wandering in the forest. Could there be more Smurfs?

I liked the surflings (all except baby!). Unlike the other grown smurfs ('cept Grandpa), they had as close to 3dimensional personalities that broke away from the mold as possible in that village. The first three showed that in the first episode to show them, when they were on stage playing music. As opposed to that same old song the others play. 'Course, they played the same song only more jazzier, but at least they made an effort! :)

Hi, I just joined. Even though I thought that the Smurfs were pretty silly, I liked them anyways (who didn't, lol) Hefty was one of my favorite characters, I personally have always had a thing for tough characters. Thought Smurfette was too much of a woose, wanted a more stronger female role to be played. I even created my own counterpart female versions of the smurfs. I even started writing a fanfic on that. Here is the direct link if any of you are interested:

Don't forget to review and let me know what you think.

Hmmmmmm...too many choices (I've never been good at making decisions.)

My top five in no particular order were:

Azriel the cat
Papa Smurf
Handy Smurf
Clumsy Smurf
Dreamy Smurf

Did anybody play the Smurfs atari game? That was halfway addicting!

 <--- looks like a nekid smurf (with no white hat)
