Just curious, any other parka wearing, Madness worshipping, Vespa riders here?

In highschool, I knew a lot of punks, goths, preps, and other subbacultchas, but not a lot of rude boys and girls. Actually, I think I was the only rudy in *my* school.

I used hang around a bunch of punks/skins/goths when I was in highschool too. I was into all sorts of music....from punk to oi!, some ska to industrial and newwave. My ex had a Vespa, it was awesome...all cherry red and shiny. It never worked when I was dating him, so I was only able to ride on a friend's Vespa. FUN!! I would love to get my hands on one today. :) :D

I remeber going to all the punk/oi shows cuz those were the type of guys I always dated. Back then, I was a mix of things....guess I kind of still am. Still wear plaid skirts, or all black, but i'm mostly more mod/prep in my looks these days. And I still dig out my old punk vinyl records every now and then. ;)

Anyone else into this stuff???

There is a local band here called Lets Go Bowling that is great. They have been around since I was in high school. They are the only reason I know what ska is! :)

Almost all my friends in high school were into punk/ska/goth/you name it. I was more on the pop-goth end of things, but I was exposed to a lot of it. Loved Minor Threat, couldn't stand Fugazi for some reason.

I didn't get into ska until the mid-90s, :( but my favorite bands are...

The Pietasters, the Specials, the Agents, (local Providence band) Bob's Day Off, (also local) and whatever band does that hysterical cover of "Bumblebee Tuna..." oh yeah... Mephiskapheles! Well, I really only like that one song of theirs, but it's my favorite. ;)

Never had a parka or a bomber jacket but always had Docs and Creeps. Never cut my hair skin short and never had a scooter either.

But boy did I enjoy the music. In the early days there was a lot of Specials, Selector, Madness, The Beat (saw them earlier this year), etc. Shortly afterwards there was a lot of The Business floating around (Drinking and Driving is still one of my faves) and Psychobilly like The Meteors and King Kurt. This all went really well with the Pogues too at parties (an unlikely mix I'll admit). Those were fun days. :)

Fishbone? One of the best live bands I've EVER seen. :)

There was a ska band in Utah called Skankin' Pickle or something like that. In high school we had a couple rude boys!

Yay! Someone else who likes ska!
I loved Fishbone, too, and the Specials, Madness, the (English) Beat, Ocean 11, and Judge Dread.

I always considered Madness "Mod" not "Ska".
