While I love almost all genres of cartoons, my favorites are fantasy-themed. Of course, Wildfire (http://www.castlethorinia.net) is my favorite; it had better be, after spending 3+ years creating a web site about it. :D

Let's talk about fantasy 'toons... what were your favorites and why? I freely admit to loving "princess and pony" shows like Wildfire and Rainbow Brite (http://www.rainbowbrite.net/). (Not so much into the My Little Pony (http://members.tripod.com/~ponyland/media_menu.html) cartoon, but that didn't stop me from liking the toys)

Gummi Bears (http://www.newgumbrea.com/index.shtml) had a long run, and that really allowed lots of long-term storylines to develop. I loved the storyline where they went looking for the Ancient Gummis.

I also loved Dungeons & Dragons (http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/2599/nikicavern.html), especially the episodes "The Girl who Dreamed Tomorrow (http://members.aol.com/DDrealm/index.html)" and "Valley of the Unicorns". (of course! heh)

I didn't mean to babble on quite so long... other 80s fantasy toon fans? (I know you're out there!) What are your favorites & why?

Hmmm....don't know...would Masters of the Universe fit into the fantasy theme? That was my absolute fave 80's tune. I don't know why...I can barely remember the toon now it's been so long since I've seen it. Why did they have to take it away from me....WHY?!  :p

Dungeons & Dragons was cool when I got to see it...if memory serves me correctly, I usually didn't get up in time for it...remember having just missed it most of the time :( Gummi Bears sounds very familiar...I've lost too many of my cartoon memories! :p

What else fits in the fantasy genre? I forget off hand, but I probably watched more than this...always been big on fantasy :D

I really like the animated version of "Lord Of The Rings", that is fantasy animation at it's best! :thumb: I also liked watching "The Last Unicorn". I haven' seen that film in years though. :)

Sure, Masters of the Universe fits! I liked it better than She-Ra, though I have some friends (http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Satellite/2067/) who'd thump me with their plastic Swift Wind unicorns for saying so, LOL.

Blackstar (http://www.geocities.com/granamyr/) is another one... it was Filmation's precursor to Masters of the Universe. I almost started a Blackstar site as a companion to my Wildfire site a few years ago. Granamyr's site is a riot... if you've at least watched He-Man, you'll get a kick out of it. Blackstar also had a very popular toy line.

Trixter, The Last Unicorn is my favorite movie, period. Nice to see another fan. It's pretty easy to get hold of the VHS... I picked mine up at Target a few years ago.

Dungeons and Dragons, hands down. I would set my alarm to make sure I got up to see it. I think I still have a couple episodes on tape somewhere. I tend to like just about anything in the fantasy genre anyways. :)

Jeez Roem, you must've been a heavy sleeper, because I can still remembering already being up an having breakfast eaten in time for Dungeons & Dragons to come on at 9:30.

(I can still remember at what time slot which cartoon came on... boy, I'm pathetic. ;))

You're not alone! I'm that way, too.

(with the help of this site I've remembered a few more - especially good for Boston / Worcester, MA area - http://www.inthe80s.com/saturdays.shtml )

I really need to finish my Wildfire (http://www.castlethorinia.net) site one of these years. Someday!
