Have any of you got a link to a good discography or biopiece for the band 3D? Remember them? They had a few new wave radio singles that did okay, including "X-Ray Eyes" in 1980. I could really use a discography for these guys. All Music Guide and CDDB are seriously lacking, and the search term "3D" is just too common to be of use on Google et al. Argh. :( Help is much appreciated! Thanks!

You might try the Ultimate Band List:
www.ubl.com
It has lots and lots of bands listed with information.
Stacy,
Thanks and good thinking! Unfortunately, UBL has empty entries for 3D and 3-D. Doesn't that just bite? Blah. The group was pretty cool, too; I'm surprised not to find much about them out there.
Still hunting. If y'all come up with anything else...

Hi Tvdiva,
I'm happy to help you: there are two music groups with this name: the 80's band is called "3-D" and the 90's one "3D"...
3-D made two LPs, both in 1980. But I suppose it's better you look directly there: www.allmusic.com it's a GOOD resource for 80s music.
Take care!
Guancho
Hi, Guancho,
Thanks for trying to help. Yes, I've noticed there were at least two bands with this name, and several different spellings! :) I did not expect searching for this group's history would be such a tough task. Darn!
I've checked All Music Guide. They really haven't got much. It looks like two 1980 releases; one has a tracklist. I'm fairly certain there were subsequent albums released, but what they were called or exactly when they came... I don't know. I'm guessing something in 1983 and something in 1985 would be likely, because of these singles:
3D - Nearer (Nearer 'Revenge Mix' 7" released in 1983)
3D - Dance to Believe (7" released in 1985)
So, let's try this another way. Forget the discography because I'm pretty sure it's one of those extremely rare beasts that actually does not exist online (amazing but true -- call the presses :p ). Does anyone know from which albums the above two tracks came?
Now, then... Before this thread completely crosses the line of "messages that should have been posted in 'Where Can I Find This Song'"... ;)

Hi Tvdiva,
That seemed to be easy... I've tried to get more information.
Well, as far as I know, there are only 2 LPs ("3D" and "See it loud"). Both tracklists are in the Allmusic database (you found only one?). You are right that is really HARD to look for information about this group... I have found a really poor information (but maybe helps you):
There is an UK 7" release of "Dance to believe" dated in 1984. Also exists a single with this song, an B-siding "The club". Moreover I've heard that "Dance to believe" is titling a 12"... but I couldn't confirm that point.
Moreover, it seems that exists another 12" -(1988?)- with the songs "Giddy Up" & "Once More"; and a 7" release with the song "Break a fix(ation)".
That's all by the moment. Have you thought that maybe these songs were not extracted from an LP?. A lot of singles an EPs were made as "previews" to prepare a Long Play that finally never appeared, that could be this case.
I've placed a request in an UK forum. I hope they will have better information...
Good luck!
Thank you so much, Guancho! You found a couple things I had not. Yes, I'm beginning to wonder if the two albums listed at All Music were, indeed, the only full-length releases by these guys. It's that, or they put something out in small quantity on a tiny independent label, and it's just so obscure I'm not going to find it all these years later.
The 12" and 7" you located, though, were a great help! I really appreciate it. :)

I remember from that same 3D album were other hits like "Telephone Number" and "It's No Fun"- sounding much like tunes from The Cars. Got this on vinyl the day it was released
in 1980(?)
