Please delete all old private messages.

Is there some way I can stop tracking of messages sent? Those tracking things adds to the number of messages in the mailbox. It took me some time to figure that out. It doubles the messages in your box everytime you send one.

Does anyone else need or really use that message tracking? If not, I could shut it off...I can't do it for individual users, just an entire user group...would anyone miss it?

Maybe that's one of the things causing problems.. If nobody uses this, let's turn it off. Actually, if we didn't have it, it wouldn't be the end of the world for anybody. But, we've got so many old PMs in the system and it takes a lot of space in the database. This is certainly slowing things down. I've limited PM storage to 20 instead of 70. Once the old PMs are cleared out, this will make a big difference...

You can turn off the tracking along with the saved copy for the sent folder manually. It should be below the message box.

Actually I use the message tracking and sent messages copy, I use the tracking to make sure someone got my PM and then I delete once I know they read it, and some of the PM's I send I like to keep. I know I'm the minority but I'd miss these options.

That was quite a reduction in totals. I understand that you have to do it due to the many messages, but it is going to be tough to reach people by PM I think. Is there any way this can be changed for the moderators or at least the administrators? It would suck if someone couldn't get a PM through to you, Roem or Not Man.

I don't use the PM tracking. It took me two days (shut up, I'm computer illiterate! :p lol), to figure out why my message box at the bottom of the page said I had messages. :rolleyes: lol I never claimed I was brilliant. lol But I usually delete all my pm's after reading them, so I could live without the message tracking....and the 'sent items' folder, too, truth to tell. :)

I have another question, though. I've noticed that the little window at the bottom left of every page that takes you back to a forum or allows you to do a 'forum jump' is missing. I have to go back up to the top and use the links by the check mark box. Is this just my computer, or has everyone (or anyone, please!!) noticed this?

I don't use message tracking so I'm not going to miss it.

Yes Val, the forum jump option was taken out...just another one of those things that was tearing at the server...

I actually find that pm tracking annoying. Get rid of it.

Ok, I took it off the Love Lounge user group....see how it works out first. Also, if anyone wants their PM box completely cleared out, I can do this in one click....this of course is only if you have no sentimental attachment to any of your PM's...otherwise, go into your inbox and sent items folders and delete messages down til you have under 20....and end tracking if you still have message tracking....

If you want a complete clear out though....just say the word

I haven't used the PM tracking system at all. I've just deleted all of my old PMs, both sent and received, and also ended tracking of all messages as well. I hope this allows me to begin receiving PMs again...

I know I've only been around a month, but I was already used to being able to track PM's. I like knowing whether or not someone has received a message yet. (And it was nice to know that I could go back and delete messages before they were viewed; you know, just in case I changed my mind... :rolleyes: )

Now how will I know if "he" has read the PM and is just ignoring me, or if he really hasn't checked his messages for two days?!? :D

80sTrivia, you're still coming up on the system as having 41 PMs....if you'd like, I can clear your entire box with one click and it will definitely work for you....

That's not a problem....I know for a fact me and Sal are immune from the 20 PM limit...I got 43 in mine (I know, I got some cleaning to to do :p), and I'm still receiving PM's....

Roemy, could you go ahead and delete all of those PMs. I don't know how they could still be there when I deleted them! Thanks again for your help, Roemy!!!

I sent out an email to everybody who had private messages in their in-box. Well, atleast 7 or 8 PMs... In case you didn't get the email, here it is - it explains how to get those messages you may not see:

(removed beginning) - The trick is, you've got to go to your PM area in the control panel and look towards the topish right. Look for the "Jump to folder" drop down menu and choose Sent Messages and clear them out - then go to Message Tracking and clear them out. :)

A little weird, right? Well, this will help speed up the boards, anyway... :)

I still had some PMs showing up. Here it turns out, I needed to click on 'Show Messages From' and go back so I could delet all my PM's ;) I did this for 'inbox' and 'sent' ;)
