I voted for Expose as well. They were the hottest freestyle of the 80's in my opinion and the most successful! :thumb: Gioia was hot! Unfortunately when she left the group, I lost interest!

That's ok :) I don't know if I could choose a favorite...when it comes to the women of freestyle, to borrow a line from daffy, they're all my favorites! I'm torn on a 3-way tie on this list between Expose, Sa-Fire and the Cover Girls :p

All these names are great. But, of these choices, I picked Safire.. So many songs I really love.. George Lamond would come in second (out of this list). They both still perform and have new albums.. I saw George Lamond a couple of years ago. He's doin' well..

I do have more favorites.. Freestyle music always puts me in a great mood...

I'm gonna have to go with Stevie B on this one.

Stevie B (Party Your Body, In My Eyes, Dreamin Of Love, Spring Love, I Wanna Be The One, etc) was pretty awesome, too.. Along with Johnny O (Fantasy Girl, Highways of Love, Memories, We Can't Go On This Way, Dreamboy/Dreamgirl with Cynthia, etc). Between them two and George Lamond, I could probably pick any of them for #1 male Freestyle Dance vocalist... Then you have Tony Moran (Dance With Me), Noel (The Question, Silent Morning, Child At Play, Out of Time, etc)...

Then you have the women.. I can go on forever with them so I'll just leave that for another time...

I voted for EXPOSE. I saw them play live, and their band was terrific, and they sounded so much better live. Ann was my favorite, but they all were HOT! Great show, great tunes, and it didnt hurt that I was one of maybe 12 men in an audience of about 3000 people. It was a VERY good time.

I saw Expose perform live at a club back in '88 as well, Jasper! They were performing with Company B. (Gioia was still singing with the band at that point...) Expose really rocked the house and you could hardly move on the dancefloor it was so tightly packed with people! Company B weren't nearly as good at performing live, but they looked good in their vinyl mini-skirts, stilletto heels and tinsel wigs, so they were excused!!! :)

Here in Corpus Christi, back in 1988 there was a perfect attendence and writing campaign in all the schools in town, and if you won, Expose would come play at your high school. Our school really didn't try that hard, which piss'd me off to no end, but a school across town won and they performed there! I would have liked the opportunity to see Expose that night, but alas, I didn't know anyone at that school who could say, "Come Go With Me!" I know, lame! :)

Yeah! I'm glad that someone voted for the Cover Girls, as they really had some great Freestyle dance tunes out in the late-80s/early 90s, as well as some great, sweet ballads. :)

I had to vote for the Cover Girls! "Show Me" brings back instant memories of when I was finally allowed to go to the new teen dance club and "All That Glitters Isn't Gold" and "Inside Outside" are some great tunes! :)

Out of curiosity, what genre would Nu Shooz fall under?

Roemello
4-17-02, 08:58 AM
I'd put nu shooz in the freestyle category as well....'point of no return' is soooooo freestyle :D I'd say 'I can't wait' is pretty much there as well

I am so glad to see that there are so many Freestyle fans here. I sort of thought no one cared about Freestyle. I was recently introduced to it by a friend here in NYC and I really love it. It is so different from the music that you could hear in Europe around the same time. I voted for Expose, but I really like Stevie B too. This is really cool. I had no idea that I would stumble over a Freestyle poll here. :) :D

I love Expose's Exposure CD. I had it on tape when it originally came out and my tape went blamo so I recently purchased it on CD. I listen to it at least once a day!!! "Come Go With Me" and "Point of No Return" get me grooving every time. I also love "I Know You Know" and "December"... great songs, all!!! :)

Well, I would've loved to have been able vote on this Poll but it was impossible for me to choose a "Favorite" out of the Options you listed, I Love all the Artists you put in the Poll Except Nayobe and George La Monde, I was never really a big fan of those 2, plus you did not add a "Other" option as there were other Freestyle Artists you left out :( ok, I'll stop whining ;)

Great Thread though :)

still around & kicking strong - she released a greatest hits cd last year entitled "bringing back the groove". all her dance & crossover hits, including "boy ive been told", "thinking of you" & "let me be the one" among her many hits have been updated to fit perfectly into todays club scene. she also includes new music. great dance cd.

check out her website at www.globeentonline.com for more info on this classy dance diva.

It's good to see some Freestyle fans here.
As of right now I can say that Gioa Bruno just signed to Koch Record Label albumdue out in August I believe.
TKA is also in the studio recording a double album, but know they have added George Lamond to the group and still go by TKA. So now it's Tony,K7 and George Lamond.
Bad Boy Joe has also in the past months released a double Freestyle Mega mix cd with 1 cd mixed with all the classic's and a 2nd cd with all new Freestyle by new artist.

105.9 Latino Mix in NY plays Freestyle every weekday from 12 noon to 1:00pm for those who are not in the NY area you can listen via web stream click here and when the site opens click on start http://wcaa.netmio.com/listen/0,2248,SI10-LGen,00.html

You can also call in at 1-888-684-1059 ask for Diamond and request your favorite Freestyle track .
Every Tuesday on Latino Mix it's all new Freestyle, by all new Artist.
They really need every one who loves this music to call in and support.

Really good to see some Freestyle Fans here.
