80sTrivia 1-25-02, 03:00 PM Does anyone remember the group Linear? I only remember them having one hit song back in the late-80s, "Sending All My Love", and it was a great freestyle song. I've not been able to find this song on any freestyle compilations, unfortunately. I remember that the guys in the band were all related (brothers or cousins) and that they were of Portuguese descent. Anyone know what happened to them? :)

Linear's song "Saving All My Love" was one of my fave's from the 80's. I have it recoreded, but have been unable to locate it, or my 12". As for what became of them, I would like to know as well.

I'm glad that someone else remembers Linear's "Saving All My Love" and I'm not surprised that it's you, Wonder Twin. I think I had this song taped off the radio on an old cassette, but I've been unable to locate it. I would love to find it on a freestyle compilation CD someday!!!

djdaffy1227 2-02-02, 06:39 PM Actually the song is from 1990 and they had two follow up singles after that but I'll be darned if I can think of the titles :)
Sal Collaziano 2-06-02, 03:52 PM I definitely remember them. I remember my ex-girlfriend and her best friend and I all watching MTV when the song/video came on. They couldn't believe they were metal heads, actually. It was a cool Freestyle song played by a metal looking band. :) Sending All My Love was a cool song. I think it was actually a remake (a good one, though). Am I correct?
Therrall 6-17-02, 06:07 AM I remember them as well, Linear was a Great Group, "Sending All My Love" was a Great song too, as for thier other hits, the only other Hit Single "I" remember was "Let's Go All The Way".
DJ's right though, they were a '90's Freestyle group, and as far as I know they disappeared from the Freestyle scene after thier Debut Album, which was a bummer, I thought were pretty talented :(
As for where you can find the song "Sending All My Love" it Is on quite a few Freestyle Compilations, the Best Compilation I've seen (and own) is the "Freestyle Explosion" Series, there is 6 Volumes in this CD Compilation Series, the Vol. with this song on it is Vol. 1, it's also Available on "Freestyle's Greatest Hits" Vol. 1 which has 4 Volumes in it's CD Compilation Series, as well as other Compilations I've seen, most Record stores should have these, as well as most online CD stores, try CDNOW or Amazon.com for starters, hope this helps out Michael, Scott, Sal :)
Now Sal, "Sending All My Love" was Linear's Original song, but I do know it was remade later by several Freestyle Groups, including TKA as well as another Group called Tolga(if I remember the name right), and a few others, most were CRAP and others were good, but nothing beats the "Original"
I thought this was pretty funny, just the other nite in chat Roemy and I were singing this song together
80sTrivia 6-17-02, 06:59 AM Wow! Thanks for all the information, Therral!!! :)

Yes, I do remember "Sending All My Love," too.
samboragirl 1-03-03, 12:49 PM I think this was actually 1990, but does anyone know whatever became of the 3 guys in the group Linear (pronounced "Lin-eer")? They had a hit dance single called "Sending All My Love." I have their tape and it's kinda goofy, but overall not bad. I found it the other day and it got me wondering whatever happened to them. I can't find any info online...
Thanks in advance! And I apologize if this topic's been covered, I did try a search and didn't find anything, so...thanks! :D
Roemello 1-03-03, 03:15 PM I'll give ya an A for effort in researching before posting ;) But here's the original topic...I'll merge this one over with that one after ya see this :)

samboragirl 1-03-03, 06:09 PM Thank for the info. I have the cassette from back then so I'm not looking for the song. I really just want to know whatever happened to them and where they are now. That really isn't addressed in that thread. Just wondering if anyone knew??? Hmmm...
Thanks again.
Roemello 1-03-03, 06:52 PM Well, just heard you got the info ya need from a certain Mistress in the shadows of the Xchange  So I'll merge this on over...:)
samboragirl 1-03-03, 09:54 PM Thanks to both of you! :)
DARKCHILDSXM 6-06-03, 12:33 PM I have the 12" single on vinyl. Let's go all the way was a single by Sly Fox, who also did Como to te LLamas.
Later..
Ah yes...I remember them..:) I still have both of thier cassettes..lol..and their autographs!
LOSTNTHE80S 6-06-03, 07:22 PM Sounds familar but just can't place them at all.
DJ Midas 8-13-03, 06:24 PM I traded my 12" of the 1990 club mix quite a few years ago for either F242's "Headhunter" or Messiah's "Temple of Dreams." Anyway, just found a copy online & burned it, although whoever recorded it jacked it up to 105 BPM...
kangaRoos 8-14-03, 01:07 PM I remember them. Didn't they have long dark hair, kinda like mullets? I used to think they were hot.
80sTrivia 8-14-03, 06:53 PM Yes, they did have long, dark hair which they wore in [modified] mullets!
PromoGuy 12-02-03, 10:51 AM Probably the best mix of this song was by Cameron Paul when he was running the Mixx-It remix service.
If you can track down his mix you won't be dissapointed!
BTW, I have it the original on 12" and the Mixx-It remix on CD and 12"
New to this forum, but really like it. Going to be reading a lot here, and post if I have anything of value to add!
80sTrivia 12-31-03, 06:44 AM Welcome to the forums, PromoGuy. I actually head Linear's "Saving All My Love" played on the radio just the other day, which took me by complete and total surprise! Even more so because it was played on a small-town radio station way out in the boonies!!!
So yeah... I see a couple years worth of Linear talk. I am also an 80's freak and get all I can find. I hate the compilations they sell though. ALways the same set of songs. Irritating. Like anyone know Breakfast Club's 'Right on Track'??? YOu know the band.. Madonna was a drummer in their early days. Great stuff like that is rare on compilations.
Somone mentioned mentioned Linear doing the song 'Lets Go All the Way'. I am fairly certain it was a group called Sly Fox.
I have found a lot of old great 80's goodies on half.com. Like Howard Jones and Joe Jackson.
So yeah.. Hope all are having a great weekend.
jillybean 2-21-04, 08:52 PM I used to drool over these guys back in the day. I only remember their one song, tho.
rayfan36 7-24-04, 07:43 PM I was pretty close to Joe Restivo's family. He has not been doing too much lately. Wyatt Pauley got addicted to drugs and Charlie has been floating about. There was talk a few years ago about reuniting but nothing came of it because the guys keep fighting. As far as I know the are all still in Coral Springs, Florida. They were not related though just close friends. If any of you have more questions about the guys let me know and I'll see what I can find out. Haven't seen them personally in 3 years but they seem healthy and happy. Wyatt did complete rehab successfully.
DSMRoadster 8-21-04, 10:19 PM this is my first post....this is awesome, I never knew there was section for mullets and tube socks. j/k. I'm a leftover of the 80's child, lived through it enough to remember what was cool though I was only in elemtary school. Billy Idol still rules. I was just searching for Linear because i just DL there sending all my love song and was wondering what happened to them when I came to this page and found out. This is awesome. my apologigies for ressurrecting a post that should have been dead.....well...this is the 80's site, so it's probably cool.
I have Linear - 'Sending All My Love' on my MP3 Player... :thumb:
I also though the song came out in 1990 though. I never seen the video... I will sure love to see more freestyle videos played on VH1 classics.... Why are they been ignore? :bs:
Well maybe one day VH1 or some other channel will play them all for people who want to see them... I have my hopes up! :)
Tanya1976 11-12-04, 02:16 PM I vividly remember "Sending All My Love". I loved this song!
I used to listen to Linear back in the days. My favorite song was "Surrender Your Heart" off their second album. Everyone seems to think they were a one hit wonder group, but actually, they also hit it big in 1992 with a second hit titled "TLC".
You could say there was a slight reunion in 1996 for Wyatt Pauley's album titled "Best of Wyatt Pauley & Friend: Freestyle from the Top". The album contains what seems to be either a lost or newer classic Linear song titled "Let Me Be The One".

industrialgeek 7-15-05, 04:47 PM I remember them. KRBE had that catch of the day (I think at the time) and it was Paul Cubbie Bryant (I believe) who made the remark "Linear, not as in Mayor Lanier".. and it sort of stuck in my head.

Gracenote mentions 2 Linear albums.

LostInThe80sGirl 9-12-05, 03:17 PM The lead singer kinda reminds me of John Stamos. But, anyway, Linear wasn't a bad group. I liked mainly of course "Sending all my Love" and "Don't you come crying".
80sTrivia 9-12-05, 05:53 PM The group members did sort of resemble John Stamos, from his mullet-headed Full House days!
Hi, i'm new here. Thought I would jump right in with the Linear talk LOL.
Anyway, I'm a Dance Music Nut. I read all the fine print and try to find out as much as I can about certain songs and artists.
As far as I know, Linear's songs were pretty much all produced by Tolga Katas - a popular Freestyle producer (& artist) from the 80's & 90's.
I remember buying a box of Pop Tarts when I was around 11. They had some deal where you could send in like 3 proofs of purchase and in return you could pick out 2 Cassette singles. Guess what..Linear "Sending All My Love" was one of the ones I picked out! I always loved that song. Long live Linear & Pop Tarts ;)
