View Full Version : Best 80's Europop song ever? Chasey 1-24-02, 08:39 AM Best 80's Europop song ever? Silveradocruiser 1-24-02, 11:29 AM Tarzan Boy...always liked that one, very catchy!:D Roemello 1-24-02, 01:29 PM Out of those, gotta go with 'I Can't Wait' They're also somewhat in the Freestyle category with some of their music, so gotta represent :D this charming man 1-24-02, 03:42 PM I went for Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait. I didn't realise that they were Europop, I always seemed to think they were Canadian for some reason. LOSTNTHE80S 1-24-02, 05:01 PM Nu Shooz.....I can't wait. It reminds me of Tuesday nights down at "Jerry's".......25cent drafts.....$1.50 pitchers. They had the best sound system.....especially for the 80's. Later on in the evening...everyone would be totally plastered and they would get up on the tables to The Bird by......Morris Day and the Time (?) (Hope I'm right on that one) Right after that....we'd get crazy with Billy Idol's MONY MONY (C'mon...get laid get ******) I'll just censor myself if you don't mind. TopCat 1-26-02, 05:42 AM I went with, Nu Shooz. :) Tarzan Boy was teeth grinding and the other ones I never heard of. :D ValJ 1-26-02, 01:14 PM I went with 'I Can't Wait' by Nu Shooz. I thought 'Tarzan Boy' was a funny song, though. Are you sure the other three were released in the states? Chasey 1-26-02, 01:23 PM Hiya ValJ....good choice, good choice! :thumb: I have no idea if any of those songs were actually released in the US....I was kinda aiming the poll at the 80's exchange Euro community also. Dancingdoll1986 1-27-02, 12:40 AM I went with I can't wait!!! Loved that song!!! Westend Girl 1-27-02, 12:42 AM I voted for Voyage Voyage. I still listen to this song a lot. It is a great dance song too. Very good French song. Therrall 1-27-02, 11:58 PM I voted for Baltimora - Tarzan Boy, mainly cause I don't remember the other songs:( sorry, I love to sing along with the chorus when I hear Tarzan Boy,hehehe:D HEY! what are you laughing at?:p Trixter 2-04-02, 12:04 PM I voted for Baltimora's "Tarzan Boy". We used to try and sing that song in school. It was a favorite on the bus to games too! Ahhh, the memories!! :thumb: Iluvthe80s 2-04-02, 12:58 PM I voted for "Tarzan Boy" as well. I only recognized that song and "I Can't Wait". The others do not ring a bell to me. Maybe if I heard them. tripenvalgirl 2-07-02, 03:42 AM I would have voted for "Pop Musik" by M but, it wasn't a choice. So i had to vote for 2nd best...'I can't wait"!!!!!! Chasey 2-07-02, 04:44 AM Hmm, Pop Muzik by M - I've never really thought of that as 'Europop' before. I was kinda thinking more like the song that you used to hear on holiday in Europe and then bought when you got back home. Sara Smile 2-11-02, 01:10 PM I can't wait. It is still a good song to dance to on eighties nights. Greenway88 4-16-02, 07:39 AM Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait is my favorite out of this list. Prefab Sprouter 4-18-02, 11:18 AM I happen to like Ryan Paris "Dolce Vita" Other songs I would put in any future poll on this would be: Opus - Life is Life Masquerade - Guardian Angel Goombay Dance Band - Seven Tears Chasey 4-18-02, 04:19 PM Hiya Prefab, thanks for the input! I agree with you on 'Dolce Vita' by Ryan Paris - it got my vote too. Not sure that 'Goombay Dance Band' is really Europop, more of a slow samba song? And the reason why I didn't include Opus was because I loathe it......how about you? 80sTrivia 4-18-02, 04:25 PM Had to give my props to "Tarzan Boy"... such a fun song to dance to drunk... BlitzKid 5-08-02, 07:22 AM Dolce Vita is the best of theses songs! I actually like all of them beside Modern Talking, i just never cared for their music, maybe that's because i cannot stand Dieter Bohlen. sketcher 5-08-02, 08:26 AM I liked Nu Shooz but it doesn't sound Europop to me so I'll go with Tarzan Boy. The video was cheapo though :) Anyone know why the song got released with the Ninja Turtles movie? My second whould be Modern Talking (sorry Blitz but yeah, their songs sound the same) because I don't know the rest. Voyage Voyage sounds familiar, however. How do the lyrics go? BlitzKid 5-10-02, 09:55 AM Voyage voyage is a good song! It is all french and about traveling, as the title already says, but as my french is really bad, i just remeber a few phrases out of it: ...des ides fatales ou regarde l'ocean voyage voyage sur l'eau whatever, i am sure you can find the lyrics somewere online ... Boggle 5-10-02, 05:16 PM Had to go with Nu Shooz. "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora came in a close second. lostboy 5-10-02, 07:04 PM "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora gets my vote. I was never very fond of "I Can't Wait" JS 5-14-02, 10:45 PM My fave '80s Europop song is Nu Shooz' I Can't Wait. :) Pippi 5-25-02, 11:42 PM I voted for Voyage Voyage. It is one of the few french songs I really like. She had the wildest hair and the video was really fun to watch too. psychocandy 5-26-02, 12:01 AM Tarzan Boy!! OMG I love(d) that song!!! Kayenne 6-13-02, 06:39 AM I'm going to have to go with Nu Shooz :) Canadian80s 7-06-04, 09:23 PM Dolce Vita for me! ... my Mom use to make me play this over and over and over .... C80's wavemaster 7-06-04, 10:12 PM Well, umm...ya know me... :D ...but technically, Ryan Paris' "Dolce Vita" is Italo Disco, not Europop (same is valid for Baltimora's "Tarzan Boy"). Nu Shooz (from Portland, OR) were rather regarded as R'n'B - and if one is very, very correct on terms (we Germans are really good at this  ), their location alone disqualifies the track as Europop. ;) whistledog 7-06-04, 10:14 PM I LOVE Ryan Paris Dolce Vita. It's a shame it was not a hit here in North America. It was such a wonderful song DJ Midas 7-22-04, 03:14 PM Nu Shooz's "I Can't Wait" is my fave from this list, although I wouldn't consider them Europop per se... Surprisingly I heard Taffy's "I Love My Radio" this morning on Energy FM when I first got into my truck. That brought back some good memories. :) I'd consider that more Europop/Italo Disco. Harket 7-23-04, 09:10 PM Went with Desireless' "Voyage Voyage" - still like this song, and french sound soo sexy ;) 80sTrivia 7-24-04, 12:45 AM Surprisingly I heard Taffy's "I Love My Radio" this morning on Energy FM when I first got into my truck. That brought back some good memories. :) I'd consider that more Europop/Italo Disco. I love that song, DJ!!! Brand1974 7-24-04, 10:10 AM I went with Tarzan Boy by Baltimora. Nu-Shooz is okay, and I am not really familar with the other songs! AngelofHarlem 4-19-05, 06:16 PM Tarzan Boy...always liked that one, very catchy!:D I'm a little late joining in here, to say the least. DEFINITELY Tazan Boy - it came out when I was 7, I am now 20 years older, and I still can't get the damn song out of my head. I've just found it and am back in 1985! Voyage Voyage was cool - I seem to remember another French song, at least I think it was French, I can't remember thwe lyrics, only the tune and 'Ella Ella'. Tanya1976 4-19-05, 07:25 PM Out of those, gotta go with 'I Can't Wait' They're also somewhat in the Freestyle category with some of their music, so gotta represent :D There ya go! :thumb: Scot David Mason 6-12-05, 12:37 AM What about Driving in My Car by C.C. Catch? I used to hear that song all the time back home when I was a kid in the 80's :thumb: Bananabozorg 6-21-05, 02:15 PM Without a doubt it's "I Can't Wait" by Nu Shooz. Man, everytime I hear that song it makes me wanna dance! walvis 7-04-05, 01:26 AM From this list Voyage Voyage, but being an European I can think of about 100 europop songs that are way better. Best is hard to say, but I have a top 5. Random order. Matia Bazar - Ti Sento Righeira - Vamos A La Playa Sandra - In The Heat Of The Night Lio - Amoureux Solitaire The Twins - Ballet Dancer |
