View Full Version : Jermaine Stewart
Hey Y'all,
Does anyone remember or remember liking Jermaine Stewart and his one hit single, "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off"?
This song was catchy and fun to sing along with and I was awaiting a follow up single and nothing, gone. Does anyone know what happened to him?
this charming man 1-11-02, 07:45 PM I remember Jermaine Stewart, but didn't see there being much point in dancing and partying all night drinking cherry wine.
I thought he released another single in the UK which contradicted this song, but couldn't find any trace of it on the website below.

wavemaster 1-11-02, 10:52 PM At least, he was a bit more successful here...had two Top 10 hits with Get Lucky (#6) and Don't Talk Dirty To Me (#4) in 1988, I think that the mentioned song charted here, too.
Yeah, I can remember the songs, but I really donīt have the slightest inkling who that guy was.
I remember the "Clothes Off" song, but didn't he have a minor hit in a duet with Pia Zadora? I vaguely remember some song about rain.

Flix, you're thinking about the song "When The Rain Begins To Fall", by Pia Zadora & Jermaine Jackson.
Wavemaster, thanks for posting Jermaine Stewart's German chart positions. He had more success in Germany.
Oops..one out of two isn't bad. At least I got Jermaine right. Thanks, Trixter! :)
Jermaine Stewart is sadly no longer with us - he passed away last year (or the year before). I think it was a long standing illness he was suffering from....RIP Jermaine. :(
wavemaster 1-12-02, 04:54 PM Oh...that sucks. :(
Jermaine Jackson & Pia Zadora made it to the top spot here...#1, 1984. While I was writing down the German Charts, I had to be very careful not to mistake the Jermains... ;)

That is bad news Steve. I had no idea Jermaine Stewart was ill. R.I.P.
80s hair 1-17-02, 08:10 AM In America, Jermaine Stewart also charted with "Say It Again" in 1988 (#27)
I also remember a song "Jody" from 1986 off his "Frantic Romantic" album getting a little airplay for about a second.
djdaffy1227 1-19-02, 12:44 PM Don't forget his first single "The word is out" it just missed top 40 peaking at #41.
80sTrivia 1-26-02, 12:20 PM I love Jermaine Stewart's song "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off" to this day. I have to sing along whenever I hear this song played on the local 80s station. It's a great, fun song. As to what happened to Jermaine, I haven't a clue...

Dancingdoll1986 1-27-02, 12:29 AM Back then, I couldn't understand why anyone would want to have fun without getting all nakey. I was a huge horndog and I used to leave out the "don't" part of the song!!!:wildthing

I also like the song when I first heard it back in early 1986. Anyone knows where Jermaine Stewart was originally from?
whistledog 8-15-04, 02:16 AM The Word is Out was a very BIG hit for Jermaine here in http://www.webfitz.com/lyrics/canFlag.gif Canada in 1984
I personally liked We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off the best, but both Say it Again and Get Lucky were also a good ones. All Big http://www.webfitz.com/lyrics/canFlag.gif Canadian hits :thumb:
Eric T H 8-23-04, 11:06 AM Jermaine Stewart was from the States though I don't know which area
In the UK his releases and highest chart positions were as follows
1986 We don't have to -------- 2
1986 Jody ---------------------50
1988 Say it again --------------7
1988 Get Lucky ----------------13 (not such a lucky position)
1988 Don't talk dirty to me -----61
Total weeks spent on the charts was 42.
I have to admit that I never liked his songs myself.
