I'm not sure if this belongs here or under the Dance forum?
Does anyone like Jellybean's collaborations with various artists?
He has worked with Madonna, Elisa Fiorillo, Nikki Harris, etc...
My favorite would have to be "What's It Gonna Be" with Nikki Harris. This song makes me wanna move!! :thumb:
Roemello 1-11-02, 12:23 AM This is definitely in the straight dance category. One thing I have to wonder...that is Madonna in that song 'Sidewalk Talk' isn't it? If it ain't, he got one hell of a good duplicate voice in there...
Trixter, I knew it would only be a matter of time before you mentioned Mr Benitez. :)
I think his work with Madonna is excellent. Some of her best songs came out during that period. I don't think she really found a better "partner" until William Orbit. They should both be credited for keeping her where she belongs...on the top.
I liked the hit he did for Elisa Fiorillo and I think I have a 12" of the one minor hit he had himself.

I agree Flix, Madonna and Jellybean did work well together. Yes Roem, Madonna was featured in "Sidewalk Talk", good song too! :thumb:
About William Orbit and Madonna, they are a dynamic duo! The music that came forth was unexpected and fresh. Orbit broadened Madonna's outlook on music as well as helped broaden her fan base. Orbit's mastery on the "Ray Of Light" album helped Madonna garner her first four Grammy Awards, that were long overdue! Madonna has still remained, as you said Flix, on top! :thumb:
Greenway88 2-25-03, 11:26 AM Jellybean produced Madonna's first top 40 hit 'Holiday'. The song with Elisa Fiorillo was 'Who Found Who' which I like pretty well. It gets some play at Flashback Radio. I've also heard 'Just A Mirage' which is decent and 'The Mexican' which is pretty darn good. But I haven't heard 'The Real Thing', a collaboration with Steven Dante I believe. Can anyone recommend this one?
djdaffy1227 2-25-03, 11:41 AM I have it Greenway, if you'd like me to send you the mp3 just let me know :)
Prefab Sprouter 2-27-03, 03:48 AM Its a good song Greenway, well worth having it in your collection!
DJ Midas 8-13-03, 06:38 PM I bought the Jellybean Rocks the House! compilation when it first came out and has pretty much all the tracks mentioned here. Great 2x12 comp...:)
I think that I may be posting too much here, but please allow me to add one of the great Jellybean productions: Debbie Harry - Feel the Spin (1985). Remember the intro? Scratchers galore used that record to play with the "Uno, Dos, Tres, Quatro" on its grooves. Also, as "The Bean" was one of the best remixers of the time, he remixed Sting's "If You Love Somebody (Set Them Free)". Anyone remember that two-track 12" of '85?

I definitely recommend Steven Dante's track, as well as Dante's major hit, "Give It Up for Love", which came out in the spring of '86 on the Cooltempo label.

I must admit I like his self titled work like his cover version of Bath Ruths - The Mexican and Jingo. I still use Jingo now and again as a worm up track. Benitez is up there with Shep Pettibone, Arthur Baker, Marshall Jefferson, Joe Smooth, Jamie Principle and Todd Terry
