Anyone else enjoy these authors? Being born in Maine I am a natural Stephen King Fan and have most of his novels (he's a very nice man in case any of you are wondering, he's a great person) My favorite novel of all time is Contessa--it's based upon real life events of pre revolution Russia before the Communists took it over--very opulent lifestyles for the rich and disgusting condtions for the poor, and interesting study.

Don't know this one. Sounds good though. It was definitely a fascinating period.

If you like that kind of thing there are two wonderful novels by Mikhail Sholokhov.

The Don Flows Home To The Sea
And Quiet Flows The Don

It's a saga about a family, and by extension their village, of Don Cossacks. Follows them through World War I, The Revolution and The Civil War that followed. Mostly a peasant/soldier perspective on that turbulent time but beautifully written and moving.

Oh, I forgot. Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago is a good one too. :)
