View Full Version : Edgar Allen Poe
Ted Nugent 1-05-02, 05:37 PM I found a website with a complete collection of his stories and poems. The url is: "Edgar Allen Poe (http://www.gothic.net/poe/)". Somthing about the way he thinks and describes the scenes in his stories that makes me want to read all the more. I have a beautiful leather book with all his writings. He's brilliant. I never read a story of his and didn't like it.
He really is a master of words.
The grandfather of Goth Horror too. How can I not love him? My favorite football team is named after one of his stories. You are right, Ted. He is incredible. :)
Ted, I saved that link to My Favorites! I'm going to go in to check out more of his work! I have heard 'The Raven' before, so I am a little familiar with some of his stuff.
A poet I've always wanted to check out is Robert Frost. Do either of you know any of his stuff? Any recommendations? Thanx! :)

Val, you should pick up "The Collected Poems, Complete and Unabridged". It's the best collection of his poems I have seen around. That's a buy you won't regret. :)
I love Edgar Allen Poe. Remember first hearing "Tell-Tale Heart" in elementary school. lol Been a fan ever since. Thanks for posting the url Ted. :)

Jazzmyn, we read the "Tell-Tale Heart" in school too and I was immediately hooked! But my favorite work of Poe's would be, "The Cask Of Amontillado", it's erie and morbid, the way I like 'em!! :thumb:

Iluvthe80s 1-06-02, 03:17 PM Always liked "The Raven".
xistenza 1-06-02, 04:09 PM I *love* Edgar Allen Poe. His writing is incredible, so eerry creepy.....a lot scarier than some modern day horror authors. He also influenced many famous writes such a Baudelaire and Rimbaud. I think I like his poetry best. Thanks for the link, it will come in helpful while I'm at work. (shhhh....don't tell my boss)
"Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow --
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream"

Roemello 1-06-02, 10:25 PM He's most definitely my favorite poet. I've been a fan of horror since childhood, so his poems instantly clicked with me. Having to read 'em in Middle School, High School, and even in College was always a treat :) Loved 'The Raven' and 'The Pit and the Pendulum' just to name a couple. Thanks for posting that site Ted! So many of his other works I've not yet had the pleasure of checking out :D
Jazzy, Thank you for mentioning Tell-Tale Heart. I read it again today. It's a great story. :)
Glad to help ya Flix. :) I've got a need to read some of his stuff again. I'll have to go looking for my Poe book.
