Ok below is the timeline...
Atari Football ... Techmo Bowl ... Madden 2002
Where do you fit in as to when you started (if you started) and where do you perfer to reside.
Remember the black and white X and O's of Atari (circa 78')... I thought is was the bomb and still like it.
Techmo Bowl rocked and I remember pounding my lil' sis into the dirt all the time after school on it. (Only time I could win at it, my friends beat me)
Madden 2002, cool and all, but to much hype and features.

I played Intellivision football, I really liked Coleco Vision football except it was a little unrealistic, if you kept rolling the roller long enough you could throw it 100 yards. I used to play Sony Playstation Madden 2001, thought it was awesome;)

For me, it was Techmo Bowl. It rocks! My cousin and I would play this for hours on end. I had almost forgotten. Thanks for the memory jolt Gman! :thumb:
Techmo Bowl here as well. I only play Sega's NFL 2K2 for the PS2 today. Faster than Madden with better playbooks.

I had forgotten all about Atari football. I had the game for my 2600 where each team had three guys and the ball was a little cube.
In college, I got hooked on Cyberball and C-ball 2084 at the arcade. They kicked us out a couple of times when they were ready to close.
About the only Football game I liked was "Joe Montana's Sportstalk Football" on the Genesis. My buddies and I would spend hours playing that one. I loved the commentating.
You guys have filled in the gaps with games that I had forgotten about. I had the Atari system, then my friends had Coleco and Intellivision. We just rotated houses eating junk food, drinking soda and playing away on the consoles... :)
I have that handheld football game (Green,White, etc) I play it from time to time :)
I got my frist one in the 80s and it was green,i found one recently (Last year) that is White but its exactly the same as the one i had in the 80s :)
