View Full Version : Bananarama
BlueMolly2001 12-30-01, 02:04 PM Okay, so I don't have good musical tastes if I like Bananarama. :) I've been a fan of theirs since I first saw the video for "Robert De Niro's Waiting" on Top 40 Videos.
I think they were a great group, but got flack for lip syncing onstage in concert. I didn't really care, because their music was just great.
So who here likes them, and what's your favorite Bananrama song and album?
My favorite song is: "Hotline to Heaven"
My favorite album: "Deep Sea Skiving"
I like Bananarama a lot. I used to buy their 12 inch singles back in the 80's. I never really got an album until I picked up a Greatest Hits on CD many years later. Cruel Summer, Venus or I Can't Help It are some of my favorite songs.
I like Bananarama too. My favorite songs are "Cruel Summer" and "Robert deNiro's Waiting". I don't think I've ever heard any of their entire albums so I don't have a favorite one.
nolanbuc 12-30-01, 03:33 PM The only great thing about the 80's being over is that now you can admit to liking the music that you wouldn't admit to then. :D
"I'm Your Venus" was my fave Bananarama song. The video didn't hurt. :D Still wating for the sequel to that song...."I'm Uranus"
Iluvthe80s 12-30-01, 03:44 PM I like Bananarama. My favorite song is "Robert DeNiro's Waiting".

Another Bananrama fan here!! :)
These ladies are fun to listen to and watch!:)
My favorite album: True Confessions
My favorite song: More Than Physical
My favorite Bananarama song is Venus, from '86.
The only Bananarama album I've got is their Greatest Hits album.
Sara Smile 2-13-02, 03:49 PM I don't remember them very well. I always liked Venus and Cruel summer. I have to find a greatest hits CD somewhere.
Roemello 2-13-02, 08:56 PM All I got outta them is the Greatest Hits CD too. Fave song would have to be 'I Heard a Rumour' with Venus and Cruel Summer not far behind
My favorite Bananarama song was "Cruel Summer", I loved that song.
I liked "Venus" also. In fact, I liked Bananarama's cover a little better than Shocking Blue's original version of "Venus".
angeleyes25 2-13-02, 10:07 PM Never had any of their albums so I can't pick a favorite. The only songs of their's that I've heard were their singles. My favorite is "Venus" but I also like "Cruel Summer" a lot too!
I feel so old, most of you only had the 'Greatest Hits'! :)
I had "Deep Sky Diving", "True Confessions", "Wow", & "The Greatest Hits". But, I had to collect the vinyl for some singles as well, because I tended to prefer the remixes to the album versions. Like "More Than Physical".
Nikki_91 2-18-02, 10:52 PM I'm not even gonna lie..I usually wait until a band comes out with a greatest hits cd before I buy them. Is that so wrong? But not all the time..I have everything Lenny Kravitz has done...almost every Madonna CD..(She's cool..you have to listen to everything she's done....because SHE'S MADONNA!)
But anyway, back to the topic, which is Bananarama..I love the song "Robert DeNiro's Waiting" and "Shy Boy"..both of their greatest hits CD.
80sTrivia 2-20-02, 07:09 AM Te he! I've always liked the breezy cheesiness of Bananarama. My favorite songs from them are "Cruel Summer" and "Robert De Niro's Waiting (Talking Italian)". Their songs were always fun and very danceable!!! :)
Jughead Jones 3-14-02, 01:14 AM So, which song was your favourite?

Nah, it's cool...at least this way it'll give posters more of an option anyway.
I got their Greatest Hits cd here in the US. I was disappointed because there are several songs missing from the European version. I think there are seven songs missing all in all. :( :(
I'm not a huge fan of Bananarama, but I like some songs. My favorite is "Cruel summer", and I also like a lot "Venus".
whistledog 4-18-05, 09:51 PM When Bananarama broke through in America with Cruel Summer in 1984, they were already known here in Canada. Their 1983 hit Shy Boy reached our top 40. Kiss him Goodbye also did relatively well in the Canadian charts :thumb:
