Sal Collaziano 11-02-01, 01:29 PM This is a section specifically designed for you to rate albums of the 80's. Each topic (album) in this section will get its own individual web page accessible from the 80sxchange.com front page. The information in this section will become a major new section of 80sxchange.com
Please participate as often as you can...
Roemello 11-02-01, 03:14 PM Ok, this is interesting...so how's this gonna go? Someone puts in a new topic reviewing an album...got that part. Then what happens? Is this automatically gonna generate an individual page accessible from the homepage? Couldn't imagine you making individual pages manually....too daunting :p
Iluvthe80s 11-02-01, 04:03 PM That sounds like a great idea, Sal! I know I will definately be participating on that part of the site a lot. I own LOTS of 80's albums.
Sal Collaziano 11-02-01, 06:36 PM First.. Cool! Thanks ILuv80s! Second, yes Roem! Hah! I'm going to be creating these pages manually! Uh, the grunt work! Well, one day, when I figure out how to program in Perl (that day is coming) I will have this all automated. Until then, I don't feel we can do without having this new section on our site. It's something that nobody else has - for the meanwhile...
smalltown 11-02-01, 07:38 PM Hey Sal!
Great Idea! Do you want us to start listing our favorite albums, or how's this going to work?
Rock On All!
Sal Collaziano 11-02-01, 07:55 PM Hi smalltown! Welcome aboard. I'm glad you've come this way so early in your travels here. Yes! Go right ahead and start a new topic for each of your reviews.
Let's say, for instance, I'd like to review Guns 'n Roses Appetite for Destruction. I'll start a new topic and review the entire album. From there, other people can also add their opinions and reviews.
This way, we get a broad set of opinions; good and bad. How's that sound?

Oh man...you're gonna have your hands full there...lol ;) It is a great idea though and with all the combined 80's knowledge on this board, I'm sure it'll be a big undertaking.
"It's something that nobody else has - for the meanwhile..."
LOL...yeah, keyword is meanwhile...I'm sure the 80sxchange chameleon out there'll be sure to adjust accordingly sooner or later... :p
Scandal 11-02-01, 10:20 PM Good idea Sal. There is a lot of good music you can include. In my opinion, you should try to hit on a variety of albums. Heavy metal, hair metal, thrash, classic 80's rock, pop, dance, etc. Hopefull we can get a strong list of a variety of music styles and help promote 80's music.
smalltown 11-02-01, 11:02 PM Sal
We might as well start with the best! Here are my choices!
1. Joshua Tree--U2
2. Born In The USA--Bruce Springstein
3. Scarecrow--John Cougar Mellencamp
4. Pyromania--Def Leppard
5. Bon Jovi--Slippery When Wet
6. Motley Crue--Girls, Girls, Girls
7. Guns and Roses--Appetite for Destruction
That's a start. Thank you for letting me contribute!
wavemaster 11-03-01, 01:45 AM Sal...I hope that all your efforts in this site will pay off one day. Great idea!
A few questions from me: is this section also supposed to feature reviews from releases which are containing music from the 80s but were made in later years, e.g. 'Spirit Of Disco', a DCD set with Italo Disco mixed by Ben Liebrand and released by ZYX in 2001?
And is obscure and rare stuff which may was only released locally also welcome?
Ah...no matter what - I like it! ;)
Sal Collaziano 11-03-01, 02:10 PM Actually, Smalltown - this idea is for actually submitting your review of albums. Let's say "Bon Jovi: Slippery When Wet". You'd go over your opinions on the entire album. Mention songs you like and maybe why you like them - along with dislikes.
As for Wavemaster's question, this can also be for compilation albums OF music of the 80s.
Even beyond this, I think we should have album reviews for bands that SOUND like 80's bands - ex. Livesay!
Sal Collaziano 11-04-01, 10:36 AM The system has been updated a little bit. There is now more functionality within the pages...

I'd appreciate that Sal. Alot of people on the board have the CD, and have made comments about it, but no one has really gotten into detail about what they liked or disliked about it. We could really use the input! :D
Also, how about reviews of new discs by 80's bands that are still chugging along?
Sal Collaziano 11-04-01, 12:23 PM That is a definite. Artists that were popular in the 80s and still creating material will go herre as well.. As soon as I can, I will start adding reviews of my own...
Iluvthe80s 11-04-01, 12:45 PM Okay everyone, let's start getting in here and making some reviews. Don't leave it just to me, wave, and SurlyOne.
djdaffy1227 11-04-01, 04:17 PM This is a great idea Sal. I'm enjoying reading the few that are in here already. Let's get going folks and post more!
