View Full Version : Rock Star: The Movie Sal Collaziano 8-20-01, 02:48 AM September 7th - The premier of the movie, "Rock Star". Adding this to the calendar. Let's see how it works. :) Shakey 8-20-01, 07:04 AM Kind of looking forward to that movie. Gaining a lot of respect for Mark Wahlberg as an actor. TopCat 8-20-01, 09:47 AM I can't wait to see it :) Mark Wahlberg is an excellent actor. :) (who knew??!!) sassy 8-20-01, 12:03 PM I am glad i am not the only one who wants to see that movie. After seeing his performance on Planet Of the Apes i have respect for the guy... Iluvthe80s 8-20-01, 08:52 PM I want to see that movie too. Yes, Mark Walburg is definately a better actor than a singer. Hard to believe now that he was actually part of New Kids On the Block at one time. Poison PJ 8-20-01, 10:32 PM Donnie Was In the New Kids, Not Mark (My Lil Sis Used To Love Them So I Have tHe Unfortunate Memory Of All The Facts , hehe) I'm Looking Foward To Seeing Jeff Pilson & Zakk Wylde In It :D Sarg 8-20-01, 10:55 PM Mark Walberg did go from a badboy to a very respectable actor in the last couple of years, and he deserves it. I have yet to see "Planet Of The Apes," and "Rock Star" also looks like it's going to be good. Taz 8-20-01, 11:09 PM Marky Mark must be a good actor to pull this movie off because he was quoted in a interview that he can't stand Hard Rock & Metal music. So, in the aspect of his musical tastes... I have no respect for him. It'll be interesting to watch. Anyway, just like PJ said... it be worth it just to see Zakk Wylde and Jeff Pilson in it. Nikki_91 8-21-01, 01:05 AM I can't wait to see this movie! I loooooove Mark Walhburg. He's so Fine. Oh yeah, Stacey, he was in the music business. He was a rapper. He had one cd that I remember and I can now admit that I own. He used to go by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch..his one cd was called "Music for the People". He had a couple of hit songs off of it. One was called "Good Vibrations" and the other was a remake of "The Wild Side". Iluvthe80s 8-21-01, 09:03 PM I know. I just get those two confused sometimes. He is better at acting than singing. I liked that movie "Fear" he was in. Pagan 8-22-01, 05:59 PM I have mixed feelings about this movie... One, if it's a hit, all the little wannabe's will start looking like they're rockers again....and it will be so false that it will make my skin crawl and my stomach turn. Two, personally, I thought Walberg sucked in Planet of the Apes. His performance was much better in The Perfect Storm. As an actor, he's okay. Al Pacino he isn't. Plus, could they have picked two NON metal types to star in this movie? Walberg and Jennifer Anniston? Geez...why didn't they just cast Travolta? The correct quote, as brought up by Taz, was "The hardest part about making this movie was having to listen to that God-awful metal music." Well Mr. Walberg....go fluck yourself. The other rotten part will be that once the movie comes out I'll be hearing people yell out "Hey Rock Star" as I walk down the street. Happens with every movie with someone with long hair. "Hey Tarzan," "Hey George of the Jungle," "Hey Airhead," "Hey TEEN WOLF," for Goddess' sake! I've heard them all. That is why I have mixed feelings. As far as Zakk & Jeff go...that'll be pretty cool. But as for watching that poser Walberg pretend to be a metalhead.....well....in the words of Wayne & Garth...NOT!!!! Flix 8-22-01, 06:41 PM I saw Rock Star a little while ago, because of my job. I think Mark Wahlberg will surprise a lot of people. He is very good and very believeable in the role. Maybe because I don't know enough about rock music, but I was still very well entertained. Caligula 8-22-01, 07:38 PM The movie should Rock, The band is actually former big name musicians from bands like Donkken, Third Eye Blind and Bonham himself. Since seeing Wahlberg as Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights, I have no doubt he can pull it off. Also as a bit of trivia, Mark Wahlberg was an original memeber of New Kids on the Block but left before they got big, because he didn't like the squeaky clean image they portrayed.(it's in his biography on www.imdb.com (http://www.imdb.com) sarasunshine 8-27-01, 11:12 PM It is sort of believable to see mark wahlberg in this role...but Jennifer Anniston????...I just don't get it. I think he also does his own singing in this??? I'm not sure though abcmcd 9-05-01, 12:55 PM I'm interested in seeing all the cameos that are in the movie. Even if Marky has no musical taste, if he's a good actor, it looks like it should be good. Only two more days now! Iluvthe80s 9-06-01, 07:16 PM Okay, i'm going to go see this movie tomorrow. What I want to know is the band (Steel Dragons) supposed to be playing this new rock stuff or is it going to be more old school? I'm not into this new rock stuff. In the commercials they seemed to be dressed 80's like with the leather and long hair and all. Poison PJ 9-06-01, 07:34 PM Its Old Skool 80's Style Hard Rock Stacy, I Have the Soundtrack. ImSoooSure 9-06-01, 10:39 PM I can't wait to see this movie because I loooove Timothy Olyphant. I think he is one of the band members, not sure. I started liking him in the movie "GO". That's a fun movie if you have a chance to see it. I think they tried to release this movie atleast a year ago under the name "I wanna be a rock star"..or something like that. They kept delaying it's release so I'm excited about this one! :D 80sTrivia 9-07-01, 10:04 AM I enjoyed seeing some of the promos for this movie; the ones that feature members of Kiss, Slaughter and Dokken all giving the film their two thumbs up!!! I plan on seeing the movie this weekend! MDC: Official Stalker of DD86 :D Poison PJ 9-07-01, 05:05 PM Just Got Back From Seeing Rock Star And I Have To say It Really Really Ricks Major Ass. I Loved Every Minute Of This Movie I Give It Four Horns Up. \m/  \m/ Iluvthe80s 9-07-01, 08:32 PM Ah, Poison ya beat me! I saw it too this afternoon and it was great! I definately want to buy this when it comes on video. I recommed everyone to go see this movie this weekend. I really enjoyed the music too. This weekend also on VH-1 there will be a RockStar weekend. At 1pm ET/12 pm CT tomorrow will be a Top 40 Hair Band Countdown. Also included will be hair band Behind The Musics, plus a Behind The Movie on RockStar with interviews with Mark Wahlburg and Jennifer Anniston that will air at various times over the weekend. Taz 9-08-01, 11:11 PM I have to disagree... I was kinda dissapointed. Marky Mark did an ok job and the movie was entertaining but it just wasn't realistic enough. Maybe I'm being too critical cause I've been in bands myself. I guess for a hard rock/metal fan, I'd wait till it comes out on video... not worth the ticket price. Just my opinion Not Man 9-09-01, 12:29 AM Thanks for the warning Taz. *Not Man waits patiently for it's release on DVD* :) I rather watch movies at home anyway for a couple of reasons......If Mother nature calls you won't miss anything. Nobody will sit behind you and talk through the whole movie. Last but not least.....I think my surround system sounds better than the one at the movies. Red 9-09-01, 03:50 AM Judas Priest tried to distance themselves from this movie because it became too commercial. Still, there were a lot of references to the band throughout the movie. It was entertaining and the soundtrack was absolutely awesome. But, at times, it lost me. I'm not sure what they were trying to say with this movie. The ending was, well, it left a lot to be desired. Did anyone else notice that during the outtakes the name of the movie was still Metal God? Its worth seeing though. Iluvthe80s 9-10-01, 08:40 PM I'm very dissapointed. I was reading the top grossing movies of the weekend and "RockStar" only came in 4th place grossing $6.02 million. I don't know about you guys, but I wanted this movie to really do better. I want to see the 80's come back in a strong way. (Especially the music.) I thought this movie would be one of the tools that would help it. I get so tired of all the Britney Spears, Korn, N*Sync, Limp Bizkit crap that is out there. I want to see REAL metal rise again, along with REAL cool pop songs, etc. It would be so nice. Nikki_91 9-13-01, 04:22 PM I saw Rock Star on Sunday. I liked the movie and I really have to admit I loved the music. It had some funny parts in it as well. I love that guy who played his brother. (Don't know what his name is though) I remember him from the Wedding Singer, he played Glen, the one that was supposed to marry Drew Barrymore's character. |
