Heck yeah! I've been watching the trailers obsessively *g* I first read The Hobbit when I was ten or eleven, and I've been hooked ever since! So far the movie looks great... here's a place where you can download the trailers in Quicktime.

I have read the books several times. I am really looking forward to the movie(s). I even went to Burger King and got the cool glass goblets that lights up. I know they are geeky, but I can't help it. I have a feeling that my wife will accidently drop them one by one VERY SOON.

The cruelty! Hehe. I keep meaning to get at least one of the goblets, just to see. How cheesy is the light-up effect?

I went to see Harry Potter with my mom, and it was the first time she'd seen an LOTR trailer. She was so excited, she kept grabbing my arm and going "ooh! ooh!" like a little kid. Score one for the hippies who got into Tolkien way back when.

I just got roped into a dumb meeting on the afternoon of the 19th, when I was planning on taking the day off and standing in line. Rrrr! It's probably just as well.

It's very cheesy, Mary. Two small red light shooting through a thick glas hardly makes any effect. But it scores high on the geek-meter ;)

I wanted to get a goblet too, but the wicked powers that be took all the Burger Kings out of my town this summer. I'm sooooo bummed! :( Now let's see how much of a geek I am...I haven't decided whether a road trip is order yet or not. :p

Only 14 more days.....

VioletFoxx, I agree, it sucks to have lost Burger Kings in town and a roadtrip is a necessity. San Antonio still has Burger Kings, but on the way to Houston I saw several boarded up when I was up there in August.

What? There is no Burger Kings in Corpus Christi? That is weird! I know you have plenty of Whataburgers though! LOL Like a friend told me that lives in C.C., "Yes, they are on every corner."

A bust of Gandalf  COOL!!!!

I'm not allowed to use my goblets during dinners anymore. I drink myself full and never finish my veggies. Same reason why I can't have my lightsabers back. :(

The evil Empire of Whataburger is WHY we have no Burger Kings anymore! And yes, they are on every corner. Lucky me though, my buddy in Dallas is getting me a set off goblets for Xmas. YAY!!!!

So, who saw the movie? How was it? Please do post reviews. I'm going this weekend and I can't wait!!!

P.S. - Flixxy, you're too funny doll! :D

Saw it, loved it, would recommend it to all but little kids. :D
It lived up to it's billing and was true to the books. Not an ounce of fluff in this movie. This was the first time I ever left a movie feeling guilty for only paying $7 to see it. LOL! :D

OMG! Buc, you are sooooo right! I just got back from seeing it half an hour ago and I am on cloud 9! This movie rocks! I couldn't believe how beautiful the sets were and the costumes, and the music, and just everything. I'm already planning to go see it again later this week. It was a huge emotional roller coaster for me...I laughed, I cried, I got mad, everything. Go see this movie as soon as you can! You will not be disappointed!

Trixter, dude, I'm so there! This is definately the best movie I've seen in forever. I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm doing it....Lord of the Rings is the Star Wars of this generation. There, I said it. *will now duck in case things start flying* :D

Hope your aunt is ok, man. Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery!

As for your Star Wars comment, that is absolute blasphemy! :D Just for that, the Force won't be with you! LOL

I'm not sure we can declare LOTR to be this generation's SW just yet. As far as movie quality, LOTR is just as good or better. But as far as cultural impact, it's got a long way to go to rival SW. Part of that, I think, is that many people already were familiar with the writings of Tolkien, whereas the whole SW story was a complete surprise! SW was a watershed in cinematic innovation also (I know, so was LOTR, in some people's opinion).

Will LOTR have the same impact? Perhaps, even probably, but it's too soon to tell. Besides, I haven't had the chance to play with the LOTR action figures yet. :D
