Hi everyone.
In a few weeks, I will be going to Norway, which is a 6 hour flight. The thing is that I'm taking my year old daughter, and this will be the first time traveling on a plane with her. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//eek.gif On the way there, we will be leaving at night, so I hope she will just go to sleep. But does anyone who has traveled with their kids have any advice, tips or hints? I am hoping for the best, and preparing for the worst.

You're thinking right, preparing for the worst. In May, we are driving 10 hours to Missouri. And I have 3 kids, including a 1 year old. So, I feel for ya.
You might ask your doctor what you can do for your baby to help deal with the pressure change.

Hey, D2Girl. I'm gonna move this over to the "Advice" forum. I'm positive you'll get more responses over there. With all the posts this morning, this one got kinda lost in the shuffle (pushed way down to the bottom). So if you look in the topish, leftish corner of the page, you'll see a red image. Just click that and it'll bring you right to your message in the Advice Column. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

I too am traveling this year too. I'll be flying from San Francisco airport to Lihue airport in Kauai in July. My son is 4 and he's got two big brothers, 18 and the other one will have just turned 16. I'm lucky where he's got bigger brothers, but still, I'm worried about the flight too. Any help for all three of us posting here would be a blessing! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//wavey.gif

My advice for traveling with a 1 year old is the following: DONT DO IT!

But if you MUST, then I would recommend giving the child a decongestant that would also make her sleepy. The reason is twofold. Firstly, it would help them sleep. Secondly, a child cannot valsalva (make thier ears "pop") on thier own, so this would help keep thier ears clear and they will not have any ear pain in flight. Ear pain in flight is a big problem with children. (I work for the Air Force with thier Areovac flights) Hope this helps!
