I just found out yesterday that I'm losing my job. They are getting rid of my position throughout the whole company (and US for that matter) with the exception of our corp. office. All our work is going there (BIG MISTAKE!!!). I need to know some good job websites that I can check out here at work. Don't suggest Monster.com, been there, done that, they are totally useless. I used them on my last job search and came up with about a week's worth of phone calls for jobs that I never specified I wanted & calls from temp agency's. I've got till July 13th ladies & gentlemen. HELP!!!!!

I know where you are coming from Pebbles....I recently lost my job too after eleven years. They decided that they didn't have enough work for me.

Sorry I couldn't help you any.

The last place I was with did home loans & credit cards. They got rid of the home loans and I wasn't about to go to credit cards so I quit and got my job here in SEPTEMBER. By May (my birthday is on Wednesday!), I'm hearing look for a new job. Damn it!

Sorry to hear that, Pebbles. I've been down that road. You're right though. Monster and all those other boards are pretty useless (at least in MHO).

I noticed that you are in California, so you may try this site - http://www.cajobs.com/

It may well turn out to be like the others, but it is all I have to suggest. Good luck.

Good luck in your search Pebbles. Wish I knew of a way to help you. I just went through something similiar. Luckily something opened up in the same store and I got it. Know how you're feeling right now though.

Losing your job is not an eay thing to deal with, sorry to hear you're going through that Pebbles. I bet California has something similar to the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) that they have in Texas. Its a free program that can get you ready for college, training for new jobs, information about the local job market, and a listing of local jobs in your area. I found out about this place through the local branch of the Social Security Administration office, other people have told me they heard about it through the welfare office. It may be worth checking out. I hope this helps.

I lost many jobs in y lifetime. The last one was when after 4 yrs of building my cliental. The owner of the barber shop I was working in just closed up. He gave me 1wk to finish up. On the last day he accused me of stealng 73$! Which makes no sense. He was doing drugs and probley forgot he took it out. Later on someone else took over and remodled the shop. My custmers then went to his video buisness and told him he had better rehire me or he will have no customers at the new shop. He did and now I own the shop I was acutally out of work for 6 months when the first owner closed down. I was at an all time low and so depressed Now im back on top Sometimes things happen for a reason and the answer is not always there when we want it to be

Hi Pebbles.
Sorry to hear about your job. I also went down that road, and I took some classes that helped in finding jobs. If you do go for an interview anywhere, dont wait for them to call you. Call them, thank them again for the interview, and ask if they have any more questions for you. The best advice I have taken was to send a thank you note to those that interviewed you. I swear that is the reason I got the job I have now. They say hardly anyone does it, but it makes such a good impression. About three days after I sent out my thank you cards after the interview, they called me and offered the job. Hope some of this helps in your search. I bet you this will turn out to be a good thing in the end. You will probably find something better that makes you happy. Anyway, I hope so for you.
