View Full Version : How Bout Them Dolphins?!
Ah...back on top where we belong! What a glorious weekend! The Dolphins win...the JESTS start their annual December slide, and the Colts pretty much get eliminated from playoff contention. Life is good! :D
Now...we have to beat the Colts next Monday and the Steelers have to CRUSH the Jests for me to be even happier, but we have to watch out for those pesky little Patriots!
I just posted a response to the Dolphins game somewhere else. They looked good. Your man Chambers did well again. Any word on his injury?
I see we have a conflict of interest in the Jets - Steelers game. I hope for a Jets win, since the Dolphins will have no problems with the Colts. They are horrible and my prediction is that Manning will find Zach Thomas for a TD next week. A loss to the Steelers will do the Ravens good before the BIG GAME in two weeks between the Ravens and the Steelers. I seriously doubt that the Jets can beat the Steelers though. Testaverde is overrated and his arm is horrible. They won't get much of a running game against the Steelers D.
Squish The Fish - GO RAIDERS!!!!
Chucky Rules!
:D
Iluvthe80s 12-03-01, 09:02 PM I watched the game, Pagan! What a turnaround! I really am starting to hate the Jets. We can never beat them! At least we don't have to play them again for the rest of the season.
Iluvthe80s 12-03-01, 11:11 PM By the way, I want the Dolphins to win the Super Bowl. I want a Dolphins Super Bowl Champs shirt. You know how hard it is to find Dolphins merchandise in Cowboy country?
whoops...double post...sorry

Ya see Flix buddy, it's like this for me. I root for two teams....the Dolphins and anyone who plays the Jests. If the Jests went 0-16, I'd be pissed off that there wasn't more games in the season for them to lose!

Steve, are you talking about the same Raiders that lost to the (chuckle) CARDINALS this weekend? :D PS - Chucky may be leaving to go coach Notre Dame after the year is up...heard it on ESPN today...

About as hard as it is to get some in (cough, wheeze) Jets/Giants country!!!
djdaffy1227 12-04-01, 03:27 AM I still think the Lions are going all the way......to the #1 draft pick (sheeesh). They have a perfect record going right now, no one else can say that.....no one else wants to say that. :D Well at least no one can call me a bandwagon follower.
PS I only root against the Steelers when they play the Lions. It's an Erie thing. You have to like either The Steelers or the Browns.
It wasn't a good weekend for us Raider fans, agreed... :(
Davis should do the right thing and get Chucky signed up for a long term deal. Unfortunately, when has Davis ever done the right thing?
I personally don't think Gruden will go to Notre Dame, but will become free at the end of next season going on to become one of the highest paid coaches.

I feel the same way about the Redskins. I am so disappointed that they already got five wins.
The Lions looks horrible, Daffy. I don't even know where to start. They need a lot more than the #1 pick to turn the team around.
Steve, I have a feeling that Gruden will take the job at Notre Dame. I think he likes the challenge and the fact that he doesn't have to deal with overpaid NFL primadonna's.
Well, Notre-Dame is certainly one option open to him. The San Jose Mercury had this
to say on the subject:
Despite Gruden's fond childhood memories, Notre Dame is far from a perfect fit for him. He would have to schmooze with boosters, make sure his players go to class, spend hours on the phone calling 18-year-olds. He would be good at all that, but it would take away time from what he likes best -- watching film and game-planning.
If he thinks Darrell Russell and Sebastian Janikowski are headaches, and he does, he wouldn't relish having to baby-sit a roster of 80 knuckleheads.
``If you're going to coach, you want to coach the ultimate,'' Raiders receiver Tim Brown said. ``And that's the NFL, not college.''
Iluvthe80s 12-11-01, 01:25 AM Pagan, how 'bout them Dolphins tonight. That was one of the best games I have seen them play. Now if they can just win the next 3 games. :) Hopefully it will be Super Bowl time!
Damn straight Stacy! We put a good ol' fashioned ass whuppin' on those Colts!
I've said it before and I'll say it again...keep your eye on Chris Chambers!
Bring on the Niners! 9-3, two games up in the east....the Miami Dolphins, BEASTS of the AFC East!
nolanbuc 12-11-01, 08:05 AM I must say, Pagan, the Dophins put on a clinic for the Colts on MNF. It was almost too horrible to watch, like someone beating a helpless woman.
Since his little brother QB's for my alma mater, I had to feel sorry for Peyton. The poor guy can't buy a break. The team is all built around him, so when he has a bad night (or month) the rest of the team folds up like a junior high love-letter.
Chambers is awesome! If he continues to grow as a reciever, he'll be what Randy Moss wants to be when he grows up. :D
Next two games are the gut check games. Next week in SF, a game the Dolphins could actually afford to lose. Then after that IN New England, which will be the game that decides the AFC East. After that, the next two should be wins, home against Atlanta and Buffalo. So I'm figuring winning three of the last four to finish at 12-4, fist place in the East, and a first round bye in the playoffs. That would be a wonderful start to the new year!
Darkside 12-11-01, 09:55 PM We spanked the Colts and sent them home crying! I hope they can play this good for the remainder of the season.
nolanbuc 12-12-01, 03:42 AM Yeah, Pagan, those next two games should be fun to watch! Who would have thought that the Pats would be in the running for the division at this point?
Iluvthe80s 12-16-01, 11:39 PM Pagan, did you see the game today? What the f**k happened? 21 to 0...I can't believe they didn't score. :(
This team is frustrating the hell out of me! You never know which team is going to show up each week! Top it all off with tyhe Jets and Pats winning, and next week's game with the Pats is a MUST win for the Phins...
nolanbuc 12-17-01, 08:23 AM Oooooh! The Drama! Makes the game next week MUCH more interesting! :)
BTW, Pagan, how did a New York guy like yourself end up a Phins fan? Everytime I see that commercial with the bar full of Jets fans with the one Miami fan celebrating a TD, it reminds me of you! :D LOL
& (on an unrelated note) for those of you who secretly mocked me for keeping Manning on my fantasy team this long.... :p

I don't want interesting! I want a sure thing! LOL....
Buc, EVERYONE I know says that to me! That's me in the Meadowlands every year! I started liking Miami when I was 6 years old, the first year they were in the league. My father said I saw the helmet and that was it, I was hooked! So...I've been there from Joe Auer running the first kickoff in Dolphin's history back for a TD to now...a fan from the start!
Iluvthe80s 12-17-01, 09:58 AM What I have been noticing about the Dolphins is usually they will play this wonderful game, then the next time start making stupid mistakes.
The 49ers really killed Miami's offense. I could not believe that they completely shut down Chambers, McKnight and Gadsden. They should beat the Patriots, who seems to squeeze in a lot of lucky wins this season.
The Ravens lost...sigh...At least the Redskins lost as well. So much for Tony Kornheiser and his %&"!@! Redskins bandwagon. Congrats to Steelers fans. You finallly got the QB in Kordell that you deserve.
Actually Flix, the didn't shut down Chambers, McKnight & Gadsden. They blew through the left side of the Dolphin's line and never gave Fiedler enough time to throw.
There were three plays where Chambers was WIDE open on a deep route. Twice Fiedler overthrew him, and once he was pressured and had to get rid of the ball. The Phin's line is banged up beyond belief. I doubt very highly they'll go far in the playoffs because of this. Fiedler's a good QB when he has time, but when he's pressured he falls apart.
The other thing they did that drove me nuts was calling plays that didn't allow Fiedler to float the pocket. That's when he's at his best, and they kept him a sitting duck most of the game. Very frustrating....I think I need to be their new coach! ;)
Fiedler needs to get used to pressure. That's playoff football for you. They won't get far without any protection from the offensive line.
