Ok this poll is to decide what to do about the fluff topics (ie hugs, kisses, nookie, tickles, wedgies, pies, etc.). Rock the Vote! :D

I think at this point it's best to just get rid of them. It takes away from space for new, legitimate topics and some of those topics tend to either get ignored or have minimal responses.

Second, we have been noticing less members signing up. This might or might not have something to do with it. Plus, we have been getting some younger members. It's not just us late twenties on up people anymore. Like I said in the other post, there is a board that is very similar to this one I won't name out loud that is quickly catching up with us in members. I want to see us stay #1!

It would be just sad to skip it with all those entries...but keeping them in an own forum sounds good for me. ;)

Have only one - for all the pies (guilty for starting that one), wedgies (guilty), freaks(points at Roem :) ), smoochies etc. But at the very very bottom of the Xchange.

I have to admit when I came back and everyone had stalker or stalkee on their tag lines I was a bit perplexed but I had been around before and then got into the spirit because Notman is a great stalker - lots of fun but well.... I don't want to lose members.

Another idea too is because there are younger people coming to the forum maybe we should put a password on that thread if we do move it. You have to have had at least 100 posts to get used to the place and understand the rest of us crazy 80s people to get access and you have to be over 18. Sorry Ted but some of the stuff with you participating could get us in serious trouble when you think about it. You are tons of fun to bug but in a more adult thread I have to be honest I have a 13 year old and I would freak if he was reading this stuff and he likes the 80s too.

Well leave it to the great guys that hold this place together to mull that one over.

Funny you should mention this Zel, because us Admins and mods HAVE been mulling this underage thing over as of late in our little area ;)

My vote's to close 'em out and let 'em float down the Lounge archives...

Think about it...you wanna give someone a virtual smooch, hug, whatever...just do it at the end of a post you make in another discussion (not quite in EVERY post or we'll be back to square one, but ya know what I mean) :p

I think keeping only one going would be ok. Maybe the hug forum?

I like think we should have one up or take Roemy's idea and just add something occassionally at the end of a post. Think it is getting a little out of hand now.

Sounds good Mystie :) We should probably keep it PG-13 too while we're at it. Some of the posts have brought tears to my eyes from laughing so hard but... :)

I noticed that the freakfile pretty much stood on its own and the IT file went of for a while but in the past MONTH some of US (including myself) got carried away not that it wasn't a lot of fun. I think maybe and I love to hypothesize, this was our way of dealing with the stress and the onslaught of horrible images over and over again in the news. I could turn the news off and come in here and be silly.

Well, I've closed most of 'em out for now...if we end up keeping one, we'll open it back up and keep it available...

Did you get the one here on the front page of the Member's Lounge? Myst brought it back awhile ago before she read what was going on. I know she didn't mean to.

I voted to keep one. The love forum was nice :) IMHO, if you think its silly don't post in there.

We do need to keep it PG-13. :) However, being this is an 80s message board for people who grew up in the 80s not born in the 80's, I don't think we should have to watch everything little thing we say.

Sorry Ted! I really mean no offense to you ;)

As I stated previously, I think one forum/topic will be sufficient!!!

I had to vote other Roem. Can we keep just one AND move it out of the Members Lounge? Also, is there anyway to prevent the topic from jumping up on "Today's Discussions"? Those of us who'll use it will check it anyway. That way it won't interfere with any of the other topics and new members probably won't even find it till they are comfortable on the Xchange.

I would like to say that getting caught in between Zel and Not Man or TC and Ted in one of those forums really does add to my enjoyment of this community. It's a little space to add some spontaneity (and sure frivolity) to the discussions we all have. I think that makes the Xchange a little more than "Here's my opinion on this", "I'm listening to this". I am in complete agreement that we have too many topics: one is definitely enough. But it'd be a shame to have none.

One is sufficient....takes care of everything....

I'm gonna let this poll go on through the weekend...give everyone a chance to have a say, but I can see the most likely scenario is gonna be to leave one in here that covers it all.

Bogie, I don't think there is a way to keep it off the active topics list...that's not really a problem either if it's just one single topic....it's not gonna hurt anything.

As for the moving thing...this really only makes sense to have in a general forum. It's not a creative thing, so it wouldn't even fit in the 'stuff from our members' forum really...

I have posted in these things before but as of late I haven't. I don't mind them being here I just choose to ignore them. I don't think they are hurting anyone.

None taken. :) I really don't think you guys need to watch anything you say, I'm not sheltered! I'm even nastier than you guys sometimes. And geeze I'm 15! lol soon to be 16, I can certainly take a few jokes. :) And I like having just the love forum, No need for all that fluff out there.

My 2 cents :)

They should have there own forum, Roem, if your at a loss for what it should be named how about "Mushville" :D

The new forum is made and named.....but still a work in process...see what happens next... ;)

I hadn't thought about it until this topic was brought up. Everyone is having fun with all the topics on the Xchange now, but we are getting away from "80's" topics lately. Another forum for the fluff topics could remedy that.

I vote to move them to another forum, one that's purpose is solely for fluff. I think other topics are getting lost in the Member's Lounge.

just my opinion.

I was thinking that as well. If there's a way to keep it out of the "Today's Discussions" page, by all means do it! Like Bogie said, those of us who use it will know to check it.

Keep one and let it have its own forum.

I voted to keep one. I like a topic that I can go into and I don't have to be so serious about life. I come here to ignore my problems for a while! To lose them all would be depressing.

Like Zel, I would like to know what's considered fluff? There are other topics in M.L. that I wouldn't consider substantial discussions, but that's my opinion.

Ted I know you are not a normal teenager :) I'm just concerned about other young people coming on the board. I have a lot of young kids coming to my page and asking about lyrics. My son is 13 (well will be in December) and I don't want him involved in adult conversations :)

Roemello

Haven't made my way down to the mod forum yet, but as far as I know so far, we'll be moving all the hugs, kisses, nookie, etc. to a new forum at the bottom of the mainpage.

With this being a private forum, new posts to the topics within it will not appear in the 'today's discussions' area.

I don't think they hurt anything and can be kind of fun, but I wish they were in their own little place.

WOW
Alot happens when you are gone for a couple of days. Did i miss something?
I didn't realize that those forums were that wrong. I thought everyone was having fun with them, and right now we all could use some humor in our lives.

Roemello
10-15-01, 06:12 PM
It's not that they're wrong Milani, they just take up way too much space in the lounge, make it harder to keep up with everything, and we do have to put into consideration that we do have minors on the board, so it's probably in better taste to put all that in it's own private little area.

You'll be able to get back into that groove soon enough...still getting that new forum ready ;)

Milani we are still going to have our fun at another forum topic and it will have an age question before you get access. The board could get in serious trouble. I'm with you we we're having fun and we still will :)

Yeah, I hope it doesn't become taboo to toss a pie every now and then. I am missing some of it allready. This is a very good idea to combine them all though. :)

Just for you Imsoosure :) Here's a piece of apple pie to tie you over until Sal gets back and opens the forum :) (no throwing though we must be good) :)

We will all still have fun in there,, and i agree just one will be sufficient. I have fun no matter where or what I do.

I am just having nookie ,, smoochies and hug withdrawls...

Hurry Taz.. pm me.. NOW!!!! :p

I noticed today that there was a (click) here on top of the screen for 18 and over. I did click on it.. now what?

Roemello
10-17-01, 06:13 PM
Ok, this is what's going on with that fluff forum as far as I know at the moment...

I think all those (unless known to be underaged) who regularly posted in those areas are going to be given access to that forum without having to e-mail the birthday....I THINK..that's not definite until I hear otherwise from Sal.

After access has been given to the majority of those who posted in those forums before, all the hugs, kisses, nookie, etc. forums will be moved from the Member's Lounge to the new forum, opened back up, and boom...there ya have it.

When is this gonna happen? As soon as Sal can set up the access for people which may not be until next week, but that's not definite. New members or non-regulars will have to click on that link above to verify they're over 18 and want access to that forum area.
