Chasey

Just when you were all thinking that ol' Chasey had forgotten to post his top picks for April, due to a constant barrage of PM's from you all I decided I had to get around to posting April's selection of 80's classics....:D
- OK, so I made up some of the above, bet ya can't guess which bit?
Anyway, enough with the waffle and away we go with what was on my youtube playlist for last month......
I've really gotten back into Frankie in a big way these last few weeks. Getting out 'Relax' seems to always signal the beginning of the Summer as far as I'm concerned.
'Welcome To The Pleasuredome' was the 4th single to have been released from the bands 1984 debut album 'Welcome To The Pleasuredome', and this is the ultimate mix of 'Welcome To The Pleasuredome', 'The Pleasurefix Mix', released on vinyl in 1985:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/w-YXmZNGcs4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/w-YXmZNGcs4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Next up, it's ex Styx singer Tommy Shaw and 'Girls With Guns'. Tommy cut a few singles as a solo artist in the mid 80's, and 2 of his hits were featured in the Miami Vice series - 'Dangerous Game' and 'Girls With Guns':
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/25dSxa8-LdQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/25dSxa8-LdQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Next up, it's some Italo Disco with Max Him. Max already had a hit with 'Lady Fantasy' and this was his other well-known European track. So it's on with those Wayfarers, and away we go...
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZVjS5pFTAYs&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZVjS5pFTAYs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
More Italo Disco, with a high-energy track from a band called Mozzart who had a hit in 1986 with 'Money:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/b-Qu3EZXz1c&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/b-Qu3EZXz1c&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Back to 1981, and some full-on 80's weirdness with the classic from Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin - It's My Party:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zWEQCOOj7JI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zWEQCOOj7JI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Continuing with the synthesized vein, here's Ultravox with an absolute classic track entitled 'Paths And Angles' that was originally a 'B' side, and was MIA until it appeared on the re-release of 'Rage In Eden'. One of the best things about this track is the lyrics of Warren Cann, who occasionally and brilliantly guests on vocals:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sPFz4EgtYzg&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sPFz4EgtYzg&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Classic funk from 1985 from Midnight Star now and 'The Midas Touch'. This sort of stuff stands the test of time so well, and sounds as fresh today as it did then:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DVe0o6lRgcY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DVe0o6lRgcY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Right, how best to described the next artist! Think of a cross between the late Drag-Queen 'Divine' and Liberace - and bingo, you've got this next guy!
The artist named 'Fancy' was part of the Italo Disco movement in the mid 80's, and had several big hits, from 1985 here is 'Lady Of Ice':
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/r59nGnQsytA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/r59nGnQsytA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I started with Frankie, so i'll finish with Frankie. This is gem from the superb debut 1984 debut album 'Welcome To The Pleasuredome' entitled 'Black Night, White Light':
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xJ5juKY9xos&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xJ5juKY9xos&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
