Been looking for something like this for yonks! RetroMan 1-17-09, 05:06 PM Dude111, you have impeccable timing! I am actually building my own jukebox to go in my bar and I has always thought that a program that takes care of the normalization process, degrades the MP3 (decodes, adjusts the volume, then recodes back to MP3) This usually compresses the sound even more (degrading it) but this neat little program you found doesn't!! nice work Dude111 :thumb: BrandyBlue 1-17-09, 06:02 PM Here I am, complete musical moron, just dealing with the sound just like it happens...I guess there IS a fix for everything. Dude111 1-17-09, 11:55 PM Im glad everyone enjoys it :) RetroMan 1-18-09, 07:05 AM Here I am, complete musical moron, just dealing with the sound just like it happens...I guess there IS a fix for everything. Ok, excuse me a moment while I put my geek hat on: Normalization is the process of adjusting the gain (volume) of your MP3 files so they are all the same level - make softer ones louder, make too loud ones softer so they all play at a pre-set dB. A nice happy medium For instance, you don't want to be sitting back with a nice drink listening to you Def Leppard MP3's when another song comes on (from a completely different album) that one of your friends encoded at some ridiculously loud volume! you would blast you out your chair and there would be diet ice tea everywhere!! well, it's never quite that extreme, but you do sometimes get a LOUD MP3 when you have to turn the volume down manually from time to time In the past, they had a programs that would fix this problem, but in order to do so, it would have to decompress the MP3 back into a wave file, adjust the volume, then compress it back into an MP3 - this would degrade the sound of the file. I got excited over the link that Dude111 did because this program doesn't degrade the quality - it somehow normalizes the volume on your entire MP3 collection without losing quality crikey! it's a bloomin' miracle! :thumb: BrandyBlue 1-18-09, 08:56 AM Ok, excuse me a moment while I put my geek hat on: Normalization is the process of adjusting the gain (volume) of your MP3 files so they are all the same level - make softer ones louder, make too loud ones softer so they all play at a pre-set dB. But what do I know about normal? Dude111 1-18-09, 09:07 PM "Normal" is a made up word Brandy,do whatever makes YOU happy :) |
