View Full Version : What are you like in "real life"?
BrandyBlue 1-15-09, 07:41 AM I am pretty much the same as what you see here, really. It would surprise most of you to know that I really am not a big talker, though. It seems to take more words to get a point across on the board, or in an email. It's the lack of facial expressions, body language and vocal inflections.
Otherwise, WYSIWYG.
You?
Slayergrrl 1-15-09, 07:46 AM I'm pretty shy. It takes a lot for me to open up and start talking. A lot of people have thought I was a Beeeeyotch. But in reality just shy. :yesnod:
BrandyBlue 1-15-09, 08:47 AM I can't imagine your ever being a bitch!
I think I am just about as down to Earth as a person can get. I really make fun of myself a lot.
What you see (and read) is what you get.

I make fun of myself all the time. I love to make people laugh. It makes me happy.
KimJoy69 1-15-09, 10:08 AM I'm shy too. I say WAY more, here, than I do face to face.

You sell yourself short. You do very well talking face to face. :)
80s Queen 1-15-09, 10:44 AM First of all Brandy, this is an awesome thread. I feel like I'm getting to know all of you a little better through reading this. Good Job!
As for me, what you see is pretty much what you get. I try to be a loving, caring and friendly person. I love to make people laugh. As a matter of fact, I always say that if I can make 1 person laugh each day I feel like I've done something to make their day a little brighter. I have an insecure side to me that rears it's ugly head every once in a while, but I try not to show it very often.
Oh yeah, and I'm talky. Guess you already knew that. :lol.
Torchwood Fan 1-15-09, 11:03 AM I'm a shy person when we first meet, but I'm a chatterbox once we get to know each other. What you see here is what you get in real life. :)
I'm pretty much the same as what you see here. I don't believe in "hiding" my personality or the fact I don't drive a ferrari or the such. What you see is what you get.

:lol:That's pretty much me, too, minus the talky part.

So the Ferrari is in the shop, eh? I hate when that happens. It's the last time I let the head housekeeper take it to the grocery store, I tell you what. Give these people an inch and they take a MILE.

Do be careful, and have the stable boy pick the bits of the butler out of the grill before you go. Nasty business, that...
I think most of us feel like we can be ourselves here.
For me, I tend to be more outspoken here. IRL I am shy at sometimes but it's more that I just don't like most people.:p I can odd at times. I don't always "fit in" I have been called snotty at but only because I am not that outgoing toward the general public. Odd that I work with the public. Believe me, I have to fake a whole lot!!!
The thread Dude posted about palm reading had given results, what I thought, was close to me.
You have a dual nature. Sometimes you are such an introvert and otherwise you cant just stop talking and mix around easily. You are also prone to mood swings. You generally look at both sides of the coin , you need to at times be rational and walk on the edge.
You reflect the happy medium between idealism in love & the reality of sacrifice. You masterfully employ both to attain harmony in love. You are dependable in your affections, once you permit yourself to let go and love all the way. You work hard for personal satisfaction. On an intimate level with friends you show them your calm and deep nature.
People generally having a fork are fond of reading , writing , sitting & imagining. You dont like much of physical activities , you prefer leisure & rest. Get going and be adventurous, if you are able to prove yourself just once that you weren't afraid to face adventure , it could mean a whole new world to you. Believe in dreams and stand by them. You have strong faith in the existence of God and you try your best to help others.

I fake it out there like you wouldn't BELIEVE sometimes, but when I care, I REALLY care.
I try to treat ANYONE like I would want to be treated but almost everyone needs to remain way more than arm's length away, seriously.
I can't imagine your being "snotty" TC, I just can't. I think there is a difference between being cold and being cautious. I think you have to be careful about whom you allow in, simple as that. With me, it's an EXTREME few. EVERY animal on Earth is allowed snuggied right into me, though! Even the ones what wanna kill me!
Caligula 1-15-09, 08:32 PM I think I'm the same as here, usually quiet and shy (if I don't know you), if I'm around people I know ie friends/work etc, I'm talking a lot being sarcastic , making comments I think are funny etc
I have always been shy, until I get to know you. I hang back until I see who I'm dealing with. At work, I have to be somewhat outgoing to make the new people feel welcome, which is awkward for me. I tend to say what comes to mind before I think it out, which can be a real pain in the ass. I say things usually just for a laugh, but I've hurt people's feelings before without realizing they didn't know I was joking. Frankly, the same as I am anywhere on earth.
If you're nice to me, I'll be nice to you. If you're fake, I'll be nice until you cross me. Then I'll be civil if I have to be (work) or I won't bother with you at all if I can help it. If I care about you, I'll do anything I can to help you in any way I can that doesn't make my son go without and I'll forgive you your faults and hope you return the favor. If I love you, I love you 100%, warts and all. I may tell you when your warts are pissing me off, but I won't stop loving you because of them.
I tend to think I'm adaptable. I think we all have a little bit of everything in us, it just comes out at different times. Sometimes we're in mommy mode, taking care of everyone around us except us. Sometimes we're selfish, we're generous, we're seductive, we're beautiful, we're flirty, we're shy, we're ugly inside and out, we're mean and bitchy, the nicest person you ever hope to meet......we're full throttle, mediocre, outrageous, laid back, hyper, intense, serene and content, introverted extroverts.
Which is why, to answer your 'theme song at the moment' thread, mine has always been Bitch.
sandyu732 1-15-09, 09:30 PM Im still very outspoken and crazy in real life as I am on here!
i am pretty out going... love to be around people. so talking is definitely my strong point. i usually know what's going on before it happens. people come to me to find someone or find out what is going on. my friends are my friends until they do me wrong. and once that happens it's all over. it takes alot to do me wrong, but there have been people that have gone there. those who know me know that i will be there for them if they ask but also know not to push it.
but the number one thing if you haven't figured it out already is that i am a total sport fanatic! so i tend to get a little rowdy sometimes.
i usually have alot going on so i am going a hundred miles a minute... i try to stay busy and live life. so anything fun i am up for...i love a good laugh, a good song, a good book and good times.
Great thread!
I am a bit louder and opionated in real life then I am in here.
I tend to act the same way on the board as I do in real life. It would be hard for me to keep track of two different personas, let alone remember who I told this lie to and who I didn't. I've met too many people who fit the song "I'm So Much Cooler Online", and so I feel it's absolutely necessary to be true about who you are. Me, I'm a joker who's rarely serious, and just likes to have fun. I am a bit slow to speak when I first meet people, because I believe in the phrase, "It's better to keep your mouth shut and have people believe you;re a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt!"
Not a PC thug 1-16-09, 07:42 PM I tend to be quiet and shy in real life. I'm slow to get to know people. I like coming here where I can open up and say things that I doubt I would ever say to someone in person. I guess I am very stoic in that sense.
I don't post on here too much. If you counted the posts that were lost when we were hacked a few years ago, I might be up to 1200 after 4.5 years. :spin:
Iluvthe80s 1-17-09, 07:43 AM I'm kinda shy in real life. I have to get to know you first before I can become talkative with you. Usually if you are an outgoing person who likes to talk, then I come out of my shell quicker.
I'm slightly introverted, but when I'm with my friends I am much more relaxed and outgoing. On line I'm automatically relaxed and outgoing, although I do sometimes say things I never would off line.
I'm the same person here as I am anywhere else. I'm open and friendly to (nearly) everyone. It takes a lot for me not to like a person, but it has happened on occasion. Then, if I don't like you, I don't talk to you. It's as simple as that. I feel very close to my Xchange friends. You were here for me at my darkest hour. I'll never forget that. :ghug:
This ties in with my thread here (http://80sxchange.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50280) quite nicely :)
I am basically the same :)
Equalizer 2-03-09, 04:23 PM I tend to be reasonably chatty (as on here) and will take people as I find them without making snap judgements. I can be a bit quiet especially in groups of people but if I've got something to say I'll say it, and if someone asks my opinion they'll get it, undiluted and to the point.
I am a fairly social creature on the whole, but I insist on my own space and time and believe in giving the same to others. I'll be a loyal friend for life if you earn my trust and respect, and if I can help you I will without hesitation, but if you screw me over that's it - I tend to find it difficult to forgive and can hold a grudge. I posted some more stuff along these lines in the 'trust' thread also.
But I'm a nice person, too nice for my own good sometimes...
Ask Topcat and Val about me. They can give a better answer than I can.

IMO, Ron is pretty much the same in person as here.

Yeah, an ass.
 KIDDING!
He is pretty much the same, though. Tells you what he thinks, to hell with you if you don't like it, funny when he wants to be and loyal to his kids. What you see is what you get. ;)
TC knew who I was my first day here, and I had an alias. So I must be the same.
BrandyBlue 2-03-09, 09:03 PM Yeah, an ass.

Oh Puhleeeeeze (or however you spelled it  )
Ron is pretty much the same in person as here.Ah man!!
I did suffer social anxiety disorder until I was about 23-24, but got over it. I'm still quiet around those I don't know, but that can change, depending on the other person's personality. I tend to sit back and observe a lot, which is why some people can think I'm snobbish or up myself, like my best friend did. Other people I get on with straight away. I have a mouldable personality. I've always been at home here with you guys, and you guys have helped me come out of my shell over the years too. :D
Shei, where the hell have you been?
If you sneak off again, we're sending Retro out to fetch you!
 Missed ya, girlie! :)
Hey Val *hugs* Retty hasn't even been in contact with me for a while....but neither have I...oops. Will write soon Retty! :)
