GOD IS GOOD!! YES, I have now secured a generator & will be going home Wed!!!
OMG, the story is unreal!! After calling every store we could think of between here & about a 100 mile radius, we kept coming up empty handed!! No shipments coming in ... all going to Houston or waiting lists as long as your arm for half a dozen coming in a day or even worse, getting on a waiting list to purchase one at twice what it is worth. Earlier today, I threw up my hands and gave up and said, "It's in God's Hands ... There's nothing more I can do!!!"
I packed up the kids to take them to Inner Space Caverns & decided not to worry about it!! Before we even got to the caverns, we got a call from home that the O'Rielly's there had generator's. I called Stephen to tell him, but he said Baytown was CRAZY chaotic & he didn't have the cash on hand to pay for one anyway.
BUT, we called info & got the # to O'R's here ... get this. The guy was on the other line ordering generator's ... I GOT ONE!! They're coming in Wed morning at 9am!!!
I went to pay for it then to make sure I would definitely get one!! The guy then told me he had ordered as many as corporate would let him and this was the last order they were allowing. I forget how many smaller (2500 watts) they were ordering, but they were only allowed 2 of the larger ones (6000 watts). Ty had told me we needed at least 3500 ... the higher the better!!
The guy was actually ordering the two large ones for a buddy here in town who needed it for purposes not related to IKE. But after talking to me while placing the order, he called his buddy & told him he could only get 1 and sold the other to me. He said he figured we needed one more than his buddy did!!!
I call them God Winks!!!! Those little coincidences that all line up just right when you need them most. All the things God puts in place to make sure we are taken care of!! Things only He can arrange for us when we finally let go & let Him take care of it!! Not more than 10 min after I'd said, "It's in God's Hands ... There's nothing more I can do" ... it was DONE!!! The generator will be here Wed morning!!!! A larger one than I'd been able to find for less than I'd been prepared to pay!!!
I'll spend tomorrow gathering supplies. I'm thinking of renting a little u-haul trailer to load as much as possible to bring in enough to help out my neighbors that may need groceries or ice. I'm not sure. We're travelling w/ my car & my friend has a pick-up so we may be able to load up enough w/ out the u-haul. We're trying to figure out what's best!!
Even MORE to the story ... I was so discouraged w/ everything before all this that I had planned to just head home tomorrow just so Stephen & I could at least be together...being apart really makes things tough. When I happened to check our bank account, I freaked noticing it was WAY off!! As I looked closer, I realized the hotel had already charged our account THRU WED!! I had decided I didn't want to deal w/ that right away & would handle it after letting off stress by taking the kids to the caverns!! Seems that was just one more "wink" in the whole plan!!!
GOD IS GOOD!! I'm going home ... WED ... WITH a generator!!! Since power, phones, cable, internet & cell towers are all out, it may be a while before y'all hear from us except from Steve at work when he can. We'll get back in touch as soon as possible.
